Location Is Everything...next door to the Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville Resort. Finally open, (after a $100 million renovation) Jimmy Buffett has put the finishing touches on his new Margaritaville resort next door! The entrance is beautiful, the beach restaurant and bar are lovely.
Why Parrot Villas?
Simple…you go on vacation to relax, recuperate and reconnect with friends and family. Parrot Villas gives you the space and amenities to spread out, relax and enjoy your company, economically.
It’s not easy to get almost perfect, 100% 5-star ratings, but the villa, its location and our customer-service philosophy has enabled us to do just that!
Why You’ll Like It…5-Minute Convenience.
Parrot Villa’s location on St. Thomas is perfect, with everything you need within a 5-minute walk or drive, so you spend time enjoying your vacation…not driving around and parking. Discover the best snorkeling on the island within a 5-minute walk, enjoy the most beautiful beach on the island within just a 3-minute drive.
Or put on your Virgin Islands formal wear (flip-flops and shorts), go to the beach restaurant and grab a coffee, cocktails, breakfast, lunch or dinner while you enjoy the white sand, palms and view of St. John from our beach (just a 300' short walk).
Want to stay home? Cranky kids? Walk them the 200' to the pool…you and the other "grownups" can enjoy each other’s company and a cocktail while the kids exhaust themselves playing in pool (and they’ll sleep soundly).
Later, you and your guests can extend your cocktail hour to the Villa’s garden courtyard, grilling your dinner to the sound of tree frogs chirping and the wind rustling through the moonlit palm trees.
Actually, an after-dinner cocktail and a cool dip in the pool isn't a bad way to go, either! (Party blender included for brain-numbing rum drinks.).
You have options…convenience… comfort…no hassles. Quite a few of our guests said they felt like they were in their own home.
In the Caribbean, there are only 2 speeds...slow, and stop. Relax...you're on island time!
This is a single-story, very private 3 B/R, 4 bath villa with a lovely garden courtyard, fountain and BBQ. If the sun gets too hot, there is a retractable awning over the outdoor dining table so that you are very comfortable. You will often see humming birds and the USVI state bird, the Yellowbreast Bananaquit, visit the courtyard.
You are about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the villa to Coki Beach and Coral World. To witness a tropical fish feeding frenzy, bring dog biscuits and/or frozen peas to feed the fish at Coki (best snorkeling on the island). You'll be the most popular human in the 7 seas...they'll literally follow you. Bring cash or credit cards for an outstanding cocktail too! The rum drinks are as stiff as you want (in the VI's, rum is cheaper than the mixer!).
If you have little ones, they'll love Coral World. Or, if you're a loner and want to see a stunningly beautiful beach with very few people, head east (toward Red Hook and American Yacht Harbor) exactly 1 mile and you'll see a paved parking lot on the left. This is Smith Bay Park (a.k.a., Lindquist Beach, where they filmed the "Hannah and Her Horse" commercial for Direct TV - see YouTube). Pack a picnic lunch (no vendors) and bring a good book (You probably won't read it, but just in case.) The ranger at the gate charges $2 to park. Most say that this is the most beautiful beach on the island. About the only civilization you'll see are a few locals and an occasional wedding.
Yes, great coffee CAN be had on the island! Coffee snobs unite at either Picassos (across the street from the hotel entrance) or at Lattes in Paradise in Red Hook (upstairs/outside at American Yacht Harbor). My preference is to make coffee at the villa, fill a thermos and have coffee on Water Bay (100-yard walk). You can also get a "coffee to go" from the restaurant right on the beach!
For shopping, my wife and I will go to either Moe's Market (just across from American Yacht Harbor) or to Food Center Supermarket (on the right side just beyond downtown Red Hook).
St. Thomas is called a 'drinking island with a sailing problem', and the 2 old fossils manning the rum table at the airport will thrust a shot of rum upon you within steps of leaving the TSA security area. Food is expensive on any island, so I generally prefer to save money and barbecue dinner in the villa's courtyard with a rum drink in hand, listening to the tree frogs and the warm breeze wafting through the palms. There's one very tall palm just outside the villa, and when the moon approaches it and hides behind the clouds, it looks like a screen saver picture. If you don't want to eat at home, (we like having lunch out) there are plenty of really good restaurants. The Old Stone Farmhouse is VERY ROMANTIC for a special occasion or date (we had an excellent dinner there for our anniversary). If you want something a little less formal and laid back, there's always tons of restaurants in Red Hook (an 5 minute drive east) or you can go to Pengas or Margaritaville (open air and on the water), about a 300 yard walk.
You HAVE to take a day cruise over to White Sand Beach and the Soggy Dollar Bar in the British Virgin Islands (drinking my morning coffee out of a coffee mug from there as I write this). What would your trip be without sailing in the VI's? Ask me about diving if you're into scuba...the reefs are shallow (which gives you greater bottom time) and there are some great wrecks.
Coki Beach (walking distance) has a certified dive shop where you can try a scuba resort course. Or, if that spooks you, they have snuba or a 45 minute, helmet dive called 'SeaTrek' at Coral World (min. age is 8 years).
If you get island fever and want to explore, the St. Thomas - St. John Ferry is only a 5 minute drive (on the left, just as you enter Red Hook). Some rental car agencies will allow you to bring your car to St. John. St. John has some of the prettiest beaches in the world (Cinnamon Bay and Trunk Bay). Go to Starfish Market to get an outstanding bottle of wine and/or beers and snacks for the beach. This little supermarket rivals some of the ones I've frequented in Napa Valley.
Hmmm, what else? For you ladies that aren't divers, sailors or deep-sea fisher persons, you can go to the Ritz-Carlton and get a massage, pedicure, manicure, or just hang on the beach while being served cocktails until you need a designated driver. Just remind your driver to drive on the left, or you'll ALL be pulled over!
Speaking of being pulled over...Udder Delite is a must on the way to Magens Bay, they blend alcoholic milkshakes)!!!
Have an EXCELLENT vacation!
