Our group of 6 couples had a wonderful time celebrating my husband's 60th birthday at this fabulous house. Even at the end of our four night stay we were still finding intriguing details. It was very clean and everyone remarked how hard that must be as the house is very large and filled with wonderful items. It is truly a one of a kind house. The kitchen was so spacious everyone could be working or snacking and not run into each other. It was a great place for late night pool tournaments, sing a longs, and sitting around the fire pit. The hot tub couldn't have been better. The views of the lake had everyone relaxed and enjoying beautiful sunsets. I can only imagine how nice it would be in summer with the pool and fountains operating. Though we barely saw her, the owner, Judith, was so nice. She even left a surprise birthday cake for my husband. The only downside, and it was easily worked around, was that the double bedroom has no direct access to a bathroom and requires going into another bedroom or downstairs. Overall, it was an amazing long weekend in an amazing house and we would all like to go back.
We planned a guys weekend golf/horse race trip, and this house was perfect! Probably too nice for a bunch of guys..it was 16 of us! Everybody had a great time and loved the house. As I mentioned, the pics don't do it justice. Most bedrooms have ceiling to floor windows which give you a great view of the lake. You have to see this place with your own eyes to notice every little artistic detail throughout the house. And the setup outside is just as cool. 90% of our time at house was spent in the bar area playing pool, and we got plenty of use out of the hot tub as well.
You can get to town in about 10-15 minutes, which is pretty typical of most places on Lake Hamilton depending on where you're going. We got an uber everywhere we went, which is much more convenient.
Judith couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. I'll admit I was a little skeptical in booking this place at first with her being on the property because I knew we would be loud and coming in late, but she was cool with everything so we didn't have any issues. We forgot she was even there and only saw her when we arrived. She was able to provide us with a couple of extra air mattresses and was helpful in answering any questions we had. Couldn't have been a better experience!
If you like to have a good time, two places you have to check out in Hot Springs that we just happen to stumble upon while there.. Back Porch Grill and Boot Scooters bar.
Want to come back when it's a little warmer to enjoy the pool and lake!
We spent a great anniversary weekend at Lion’s Gate. The house is wonderfully eclectic. Will definitely plan on visiting again!
Great owner! One of a kind home! This house was perfect for our family gathering! Plenty of space! Amazing kitchen!!
Held a joint business meeting with my team. Fantastic facilities and location. Second time at this location and it continues to get better. I highly recommend this property.
We couldn't have been happier with our stay here. We had our family Thanksgiving here and it couldn't have worked out better.
First, the kitchen. Obviously, with 10 people cooking Thanksgiving dinner at once, we stress tested this kitchen. I don't think there was one thing we were missing. All the large and small appliances needed were already there. All the bowls, pots, pans, and serving trays were there. Double oven, six burner stove with griddle- we made a ham and a turkey with no problem. Mostly though- this kitchen is spacious! Plenty of room for people to come and hang out, plenty of room for them to have work spaces around to the kitchen to not get in each others' way. This kitchen is perfect for a large gathering of folks.
The bedrooms were lovely. All were spacious and there was a lot of privacy. Most of them are up away from the main living spaces so there was plenty of peace and quiet for those looking to get away for a bit or go to sleep early.
The décor of the house is super eclectic. We were there for about 5 days and by the last day we were still noticing novel furniture and art. The home strikes a nice balance between museum and cozy lake house.
The view out of the house is amazing from both floors. The sunset over the lake was beautiful every night we were there. The lanai had tons of comfortable furniture and also has a great view of the lake and the grounds. The pool was already closed up for the winter but we made tons of use of the large hot tub. We also had campfires in the fire pit most nights and the fire wood is right there for use. The pier also has comfortable furniture and was a nice place to go to get some quiet time.
For a family vacation I can't recommend this place any higher. There is so much space in the house and so many things to do (did I forget to mention the pool table and the pub?) that you never feel cramped up with the fam. Everyone can congregate in the kitchen with plenty of room but also go do your own thing with plenty of options and space. It so quiet and feels so remote, but you can be at a store in about 5 minutes and you can be checking out the hot springs national park in about 15-20 minutes. We drove about 5 minutes to get to a hiking trail in the mountains that was beautiful and plenty challenging.
Lastly, Judith was so easy to work with and so welcoming! She left us a cake that everyone agreed was one of the best they had ever had. We had a great experience here.
