Peaceful family getaway with adult children
The house was spacious and had every amenity we needed for a relaxing get away, including a well-stocked kitchen for cooking our own meals. Our hosts were extremely warm and friendly, and they provided us with many tips and recommendations that helped make our stay that much better. We were so glad for the opportunity to stay at this property for our first family getaway in years.

October Get-Away
Lovely home and gracious hosts. The hot water heater could be a little larger for 5 guests. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.

Nice House In Good Location For Active Vacation
This is a very nice house with lovely owners. It's in a great location if you want to do hiking / biking - close to some great hikes and in a mercifully flat part of the Berkshires so you can ride right from the house without killing yourself! (Also good ski location in winter.) It's less well suited for a lounge-in-the-yard-and-read vacation because it's quite buggy outside (river runs behind it, fiercely defended by the mosquitoes) and there aren't any lounge chairs (probably because of the bugs). The house is set way back from the (not too busy) road so it's pretty quiet. There is sometimes a faint country odor, probably from the dairy farm perhaps a half mile down the road - this really is country even though Great Barrington is close by. The Library Room was perfect for one in our group who had a lot of Zoom meetings. There is a formal dining room that we didn't use at all. The refrigerator and pantry shelves were totally filled, and guests are invited to eat whatever they'd like. This arrangement could be convenient for short stays or if you are going to eat dinners out but coming for two weeks with lots of food we had to start by making room for our own stuff. The owners report they're in the process of replacing the deck (it needs it) and presumably the deck chairs as well (also needed). A big deck fan blows away 100% of mosquitoes! The deck is great for eating and the new one should be terrific. (There's also a comfortable kitchen table plus bar stool seating at the counter.) Overall, the house has the feeling of being invited to use someone's home while they're away, with a definite sense that the owners stay here a lot and enjoy it.

We had this home custom built to be our elegant, comfortable year round home. It has all the furnishings and amenities we love and wish to share this lovely home with you. It is our year-round residence and we make it available for occasional short term rental at various points during the year.

Why they chose this property

It is both private and beautiful. It is an easy drive to all of the Berkshire attractions and of course a very easy drive from NYC or Boston. In the winter we are very close to Butternut, Catamont, and Jimminy Peak for great skiing. After a day of skiing what could be more relaxing than an hour spent in the steamroom off the Master Bedroom!
During the Summer we have Tanglewood and the beautiful view off of our back deck. Enjoy the abundant wildlife, a birders paradise. Spend some time splashing in the river. In the winter enjoy time around the fire after a great meal.

What makes this property unique

Enjoy the quiet beautiful privacy of the library and relax in the Steam Room in the master bath. It is a great home to spend some relaxing time away from the rush of daily life. Breathe deep and relax.
Close to museums, the great, special, grocery store, Guidos, as well as Stop and Shop.
Tons of fabulous restaurants in Great Barrington;
antique shops are everywhere or go to the Lee Outlet center.
Close to skiing and all attractions.
