The shared patio has seating for 6 and a propane fire pit which is available for your use weather permitting.

The private patio has its own wood burning fire pit that can be used whenever open fire restrictions are not in place. Please inquiry before using.

Making Memories for a Lifetime - Check!

  • 5 of 5

30 years ago already, my husband and I experienced Zion National Park for the first time. We camped, hiked, and splurged for dinner at the lodge before going back to our tiny tent. A picture of me in The Narrows has been one of my prized possessions ever since. Now, wanting to give that same experience of a lifetime for our two nearly grown daughters, our family of four stayed at Larry's Casita for four nights and I can honestly say, mission accomplished. The Casita was lovely, clean, and simple yet perfectly detailed. Larry is a gracious and thoughtful host and the level of care and commitment to this place is evident in every corner of his property. It is the cleanest VRBO we've ever stayed in, inside and out.

We greatly enjoyed morning coffee on the patio, listening to the coyote puppies in the early morning hours, and watching the antics of his kitty tribe at any moment. We did not even know of Best Friends Sanctuary before staying here, but ended up taking a tour (initially out of respect for Larry) and found ourselves fascinated by the whole place - conceptually, organizationally, and visually - very impressive.

Kenab in general was just right for us - great restaurants when we wanted them (Rocking V was awesome) and decent grocery stores when we didn't, thanks to the excellent appointed kitchen at the Casita. We could definitely see coming back for a week and doing a deeper dive into the town itself and surrounding area aside from Zion, Escalante, and the Grand Canyon. We hope Kenab does NOT turn into another Springdale or St. George and appreciate being able to visit such an authentic, functioning town so close to so many "main attractions". We went to Zion early (left at 6:30 am) and we went to Zion late (left at 4:00 pm) - both times were perfectly magical. Did the Narrows in the morning, and Angel's Landing in the late afternoon - neither were obnoxiously crowded - even in August. Even on the full tour buses, we enjoyed knowing that everyone there had made the decision to spend the time and money to see something natural and magnificent - how great is that? The Coral Pink Sand Dunes were an unexpected pleasure - just sayin'.

Thank you, Larry and kitties, for a new and equally lovely set of memories and we hope to see you again in WAY less than 30 years!

Owner's Response: Wow! I am truly humbled by your kind, gracious and generous words. I adored having your family here and thrilled to share this special place with you. I am so glad that your family had the chance to rekindle memories and make new ones and hope your delightful girls will cherish that and one day return with their own families. This is why I like hosting so much and I'm especially happy that you discovered Best Friends because of your stay here. I wish you the best and send you my sincere gratitude! Larry

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at The Casita at Purradise for a week for our 20th anniversary. It was like home. The kitchen is the best stocked kitchen that we have stayed in. It is perfect for a couple, may be tight for 4 adults. We saw jack rabbits, roadrunners and even a coyote from the house. Great location for many hikes we did during the week. Larry was great to work with and made sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely go back.

A very special place!

  • 5 of 5

We love the Casita!!! It could not have been more perfect and we really didn’t want to leave! It was so clean!! The kitchen had absolutely everything plus more than we have at home. The bed was wonderful to sleep in after each day of hiking. The bathroom had a great shower plus a towel warmer! We’ve never been spoiled like that before! The corner fireplace was great to add a little warmth when needed plus it added the perfect ambiance to this beautiful place. And speaking of beautiful, how special was it to go out on the patio each night and settle into super comfortable furniture and enjoy a glass of wine. I can just go on forever!

We’re looking at gorgeous mountains, enjoying the hummingbirds flying around us and a bit later, we heard coyote pups howling in the distance. This place is fantastic! It’s very private and inviting.

Larry is just super and very accommodating. He has a great notebook he’s put together to familiarize his guests with all the places to hike and good places to eat. He’s a genuine lover of animals and Tadpole was our very favorite.

You have to stay at the Casita if you’re visiting Kanab! It’s a fantastic place to make many wonderful memories!

Well-appointed, charming and comfy.

  • 5 of 5

The Casita at Purradise was built for concise comfort. It had every amenity that we needed for our stay. The Casita was the ultimate home base for our hiking experience in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. The location was perfect for exploring.

Also, the Casita has a picturesque and private backyard complete with trails. We enjoyed watching the jackrabbits in the early morning and the magnificent Utah sky in the late night.

Larry, the owner, thought out every detail for a perfect vacation rental. We appreciated being able to share his home for our amazing Utah vacation.

Great Location and property.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at the "Casita" for five nights and it was perfect for two. The Casita was clean, and nicely decorated, along with all necessary amenities. The location was centrally located with respect to Grand Staircase Escalante, Zion, Lake Powell and several other locations for hiking or other recreational activities. I would definitely stay there again and recommend to others.

Thanks for a great stay!

Almost heaven

  • 4 of 5

Very clean, quiet and secluded hide-a-way near Kanab UT. A couple of not-so-perfect items reduced the stars from 5 to 4 ... first, I could not find way to lock the door but this ended up not important since there were only two people at the home (me and one other female in the next door suite). I felt very safe and secure without the door locked. Then, I called the owner but only received voice-mail option and he did not return my call.

The next morning I was able to speak with him and we resolved the key issue.

TV settings were also inconsistent during the 3 days I was there so I gave up trying to watch TV. I could not locate the setting for WIFI either, apparently the name of the connection changed. Watching the jack rabbit outside the kitchen window, however, was fun :-)

Last issue, I was not able to control the inside temperature and the second day was hot, so I opened the windows. Since this is a desert area, the temperature dropped to a comfortable level at night but was too hot during the day.

My recommendation to owner is to meet with the temporary resident at the beginning of their stay and go over all of these instructions in addition to leaving the "Instructions" manual which was to me not very helpful. Overall, my stay was pleasant but lacked that "personal" touch that would have rated this stay a 5 Stars.

Owner's Response: Patricia, I apologize for the issues you experienced. We try our best to meet every guest upon arrival and explain everything about the space, access to the Wifi, TV, door security, etc. We definitely dropped the ball in your case and I do apologize. I am not sure what happened with the Wifi, but it should not have changed during your stay so we will look into that. Here in the desert as we transition through the Spring, we are challenged with when to transition from our radiant floor heating to cooling. If we do this too soon and have a freeze, we can damage the systems since they are evaporative. However, this year it seems we made the transition too late and for that I apologize. We strive for the best experiences for our guests so I apologize to you for dropping the ball here. Larry
