About Margaret Ryan

We are Maggie and Jim Ryan. Jim is a retired dentist and Maggie is an artist/yoga teacher. Originally from Peoria Illinois, we found this island over 40 years ago. We love it so much Jim became the part time dentist in Treasure Cay and our 3 children went to school here. It is our home in our hearts.

Why Margaret Ryan chose North Abaco

This property is not just a rental property - it is our HOME. We still live here part of the year so it is fully stocked with every comfort you would want in your own home. Maggie has decorated her home with an artists touch and attention to detail. The pictures show you her exquisite taste.

What makes this townhome unique

You can fall asleep to the sound of the ocean waves. Wake up and have coffee on the balcony over looking the crystal blue Abaco ocean. Walk the white sandy 3.5 mile crescent beach. Dine in or at one of our local restaurants. Satisfy all your water sports needs from simply swimming in pure waters to snorkeling, boating, fishing and exploring the out islands. It truly is paradise

Perfect base camp for paradise!

  • 5 of 5

As first time visitors to the Abacos, it's a little daunting finalizing a selection on where to stay. Remote island only accessible by boat? Marsh Harbour near the most resources? An isolated home out of the mainstream?

We settled on this lovely property in Treasure Cay. First and foremost, owner Maggie simply could not be nicer or more helpful, sending us a detailed orientation list and answering any questions we had. With over 50 years experience in the area, she really knows everyone and everything happening there! The townhome itself was perfectly suited - well appointed, comfy beds, nice linens, and a fully functional kitchen. There's an amazing view of the bluest water in the world....you'll feel like you're living in a Corona commercial. And the best part is this amazing beach is only a few steps out the back door.

Some of our best memories of the trip are the interactions with wonderful people in Treasure Cay. Cathi Cash, a one woman walking Chamber of Commerce, helped us secure a rental car when one wasn't available. Capt'n Forty graced us with stories and his charming smile. Manuletha Bootle was our super dependable airport shuttle driver who help explain in word and thought what it means to be Bahamian. With names and allure like this, it felt akin to living for a week in a Steinbeck novel - with an awesome beach thrown in for good measure!

If you are looking for a five star, extreme luxury hotel experience, this probably isn't your property. If you want a great base of operation that is clean and comfortable at a very fair price, then you won't be disappointed.

Nice location, nice place but desprately needs TLC

  • 3 of 5

We stayed April 2018. Wonderful time staying here because of the area but this place needs TLC.

PROS- Perfect location. Close to Treasure Cay resort and marina. Everything within 5 minutes walking distance. Beautiful view of the ocean and steps to Treasure Cay Beach. TV, Intenet & AC worked great. Had appliances that were needed. The washer and dryer was nice. The kids liked their beds and slept great. Decorated nicely.

Cons sadly- First thing I noticed that there was some kind of feces on the stairs from something small. Killed a few cockroaches while we were there which I know they are places like this and your bound to get them. The fridge and the front of cupboards looked like they had not been cleaned for a few years. I bought cleaner and did some cleaning. The oven looked like it possibly has'nt ever been cleaned. I washed every dish before I used it. I cleaned the sink before I would wash the dishes including the stoppers. Couches are dirty. When you walk out the dining area there is a screened porch with sliding glass doors between. The sliding doors were almost impossible to open. The screened area had a big hole in it and Im sure critters get through. The screened door that goes outside only opens a foot. you have to go out sideways. Now for the downstairs- when you walk in the main front door you smell a sour smell of a dirty black mop that has sat there and mildewed. The screen doors that go outside toward the beach do not work. Dont plan on listening to the ocean at night. We ran the AC every night because of all the screen issues. The bathroom by the kids bedroom had no water pressure so they used the one off the master bedroom all week. The master bath needs to be re-done. There has definently been a water issue and I felt it was just dirty. The poor husband cleaned the drain so we didnt have to stand in water while showering. The master headboard was not attached to anything so any noise made in that bed was heard next door and the kids could hear!! The sheets were stained. Found some others and changed them. Feet always got dirty. Yard was overgrown with a old car to go with it thats been parked out front since 2014-which sums up the place.

This place was probably 5 stars 4 years ago and would be if someone spent a week doing TLC. It seems that someone hasnt cared for it for a few years. Its a shame but things need to be taken care of especially to charge more than the yellow rental next door that was immaculate.

An ideal location in the Abacos

  • 4 of 5

The views from the second floor were fantastic. Your location is close to several restaurants, a grocery store and bakery, I don't think you could find a better location. Areas for improvement would be the water pressure, it was a trickle. The mattress on the master bed should be changed out, the screens on the top floor should be repaired and there is some painting on the top floor that could be done. Overall it is a great location and it was a great experience.

Treasure Cay Vaca

  • 4 of 5

Owner helped arrange for us to be picked up from MHH. The property was very clean with a nice decor. Bedrooms and baths are spacious. Restaurants and grocery within walking distance. Rented a boat at the Marina with a great guide to take us island hopping all day. I give the entire TC vaca a thumbs up :)

Canadian Couple and adult daughter

  • 4 of 5

Very comfortable, typical Bahamian experience located on a beautiful beach. Conveniently located to Treasure Cay social scene by foot. Very clean and nicely decorated in a seaside theme. Maggie was very helpful and Paula(the care taker was delightful) she had lights on and Jimmy Buffet playing to welcome us after a long day of traveling. Coco's served us dinner even though we arrived when they were ending their dinner service. All the neighbors were welcoming and friendly. A return visit is in the future....
