About this property

Whale House w/ AC @ Kehena Beach, Hawaii (Oceanfront)

********HAWAII TA-042-418-7904-01****************************
Aloha, come swim with our friendly dolphins at Kehena Beach - all year long!
Whales are here during winter months and can be seen and heard from shore.

You will love The Whale House @ Kehena Beach.
This unit sleeps up to 3-4. It has 1 bedroom w/ a queen bed and a comfortable leather sofa bed ( double bed sized) in the living room, fully equipped kitchen w/ large refrigerator, oven, utensils, plates, glasses/cups, blender, coffee maker w/ coffee, pots/ pans, microwave, full bath, lanai, laundry room and more.
This is a deal considering the beautiful stretch of oceanfront land in this area.
This cottage is one of three on the estate. Please check out our comment book!!!
We keep a book in the house to capture customers comments that are made about our place and how we can improve our accommodations. It is FULL of messages just like this!

1) Susan And Andre...We had a wonderful time here! The patio overlooks the ocean and we saw whales jumping and crashing right in front of us! The cottage is located on the beautifully lush Red Road and is very convenient to the cool town of Pahoa and also a short drive to Hilo. There is an awesome black sand beach directly across from the cottage and a farmers market at the end of the road (west end I believe) that was one of my favorite activities. Local vendors, music, food, dancing - farmers market was definitely a highlight. We would absolutely stay here again.

2) Thank You so much, the past 3 nights in the cottage have been FANTASTIC! I realy look forward to coming back to visit.

3) Very nice cottage! We really enjoyed! Two thumbs up! We will recommend this place for sure!
The Whale House is located in one of the most beautiful places on earth - Kehena Beach, on The Big Island of Hawaii. There are actually 4-5 black sand beaches in the area to chose from. (Kehena Beach, Mackenzie Beaches and sea caves, Kaimu and Kapoho Beach ( must hike to ).

Our spacious cottage is one of the closest cottages to Kehena Beach on Kalapana-Kapoho Rd (aka) State HWY 137.. Our cottage also has a washer & dryer, FREE Super fast WI-FI internet, land line w/ free long distance, Direct TV, flat screen TV w/ Netflix, tile floors, outdoor rock or gas BBQ’s and typical household amenities that give you the feeling that 'you are at home
It doesn't get much better than this.
It also has an ocean view from every room in the house, including the bathroom.

If you are interested in Yoga, we are situated 3 doors down from Ramashalla, located here on 'The Red Road'.

Many people come to Hawaii to visit Volcano National Park - home of Kilauea and the periodic lava flows just a short distance from us. There are also Hawaiian jungles, tropical rain forests, beautiful coastal views, geothermically heated ponds at Pohoiki Beach, can snorkel at Kehena/ Pohoiki (when water is calm) , surfing at Pohoiki Beach, whale watching w/ dolphins that migrate to the warm Hawaiian waters from Alaska. You can often see them from our lanai off our beautiful coast - in the Kehena Beach area. Many of my tenants have told us that they were able to swim w/ the dolphins and you can too!

This is the place for water lovers - you should see the spectacular ocean view & sunrise over the south pacific from our lanai - where you may want to eat your breakfast!!

Also, did you know that we have the newest black sand beaches in the world? These were created by the recent volcanic eruption and are now the most popular beaches in Puna. You can easily navigate all of these places from the cottage in Kehena Beach.

For those of you who are seeking night time entertainment, check out 'Uncles Outdoor Hawaii Bar' if you want to sip a beer, listen to live Hawaiian music, eat great food and enjoy a farmers market at the same time.

In addition, Volcanoes National Park is just a 45-60 minute drive.

You are also close to the lava viewing area, KaMauna Caves ( large lava tubes) , coastal tide pools, snorkeling, fishing areas, Akaka, Kahuna and Rainbow Falls, Boiling Pots, hiking, Farmers Market (1/2 block away), Space Community Arts Center, Keck Observatory, Kilauea , Uncles Bamboo Tiki Bar w/ live music, cafes, food markets, Volcanoes Nat'l Park and so much more - are just 10-45 minutes away.

My mission is to make sure that you have what you need to make your visit a happy, and memorable experience ! This is also a great place to relax and enjoy nature. Many people come to Kehena Beach to 'get away from it all and breath clean air, eat great food, soak up the sunshine, exercise, commune with nature, and meet some wonderful people. So come and find out 'what the aloha spirit really is'. We invite you to come truly is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

You will love this place !

Absolutely Heaven
This little cottage by the sea was just what we wanted. Beautiful early morning wake-up calls from the birds and geckos and the sounds of the waves. Night is especially amazing as the stars are bright. Loved the black sand beach and chatting with locals. Close to everything. Really hope we can visit again soon. Thanks Andre and Susan for a wonderful week.

What is Not to Love?
There really is nothing but positive comments I can make about the property, the owners, or the location. My only regret is that we didn't plan to stay long enough. The photos are correct; the unit looks fine from the outside, but it is gorgeous inside with everything anyone would need. I have stayed in the area before and know my way around so it was easy to find the rental and navigate around, nevertheless Susan was very thorough with her directions and tips which were great because there is a lot more going on in the area than it seems. Kehena beach was great, easier to get down to the second time. The surf was pretty high so be careful. In summary who could ask for anything more?

Magical little piece of heaven!
On our way there, we drove through a heavy rainforest downpour. A bright chunk of rainbow appeared at the end of the storm, and we literally followed it right to our doorstep! We were greeted at the cottage by Hawaiian music pouring out of a little stereo and Izzy's beautiful rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" just happened to play as soon as we arrived! Magic!! The cabin was immaculately clean, beautifully and comfortably decorated, with gorgeously high ceilings and lovely ceiling fans. We loved spending time on the lanai in the mornings gazing at the ocean, and the evenings, waiting for the little "coqui" tree frogs to begin their nighttime chorus. We visited the beautiful little black-sand, clothing-optional beach across the street: you must have enough agility to climb down a steep little stony path, but it's well worth it! Due to the location of the cabins, the internet is a wee bit of a challenge. There seemed to be numerous routers and passwords and there was some conflicting password and router information provided by the owners. We ended up helping a couple staying one of the other cabins get online with information we found in our cabin which they did not seem to have access to. We couldn't get the TV in the bedroom to connect to any of the routers, but it didn't really matter to us. There is no cell phone reception there (land line phones are thoughtfully provided!) so having that bit of internet access is important for communication, but it's also nice to feel a bit off-grid and more one with nature. <3

We have lived in Hawaii for about 12 years and can't think of living anywhere else. We love the slow paced lifestyle and 'the aloha spirit'.

Why they chose this property

This property is located on The Big Island which is one of the most beautiful and diverse places on the planet. It has a fantastic view that you can only dream about. It truly gives you the 'Hawaiian view' that you have always wanted to see - coconut tress blowing w/ the trade winds against a blue pacific ocean back drop.

What makes this property unique

Just a walk across the street to the Kehena Beach View Point and beach.
Also, it is right in the center of all the popular visiting sites (Kehena Beach, the active lava flow in Kalapana, Ahalanue warm pond, Kaimu, Pohoiki surf spot, Lava Tree State Park, Kapoho Tide Pools, and Volcanoes Nat'l Park.

WE RENT WELL MAINTAINED BIKES FOR $15 PER DAY OR $45 PER WEEK HELMETS AND LIGHTS INCLUDED

HIGHLY RECOMMEND RIDING BIKE TO LAVA FLOW TO SAVE WALKING TIME
