Whether you are visiting the Memphis area for fun or business or a little of both, our house is a great location in a quiet neighborhood right on the lake. We are 25 minutes from the Memphis airport and Graceland, if Elvis is your thing. We are less than 30 minutes from downtown Memphis, the heart of B.B. King’s “ Bluesville” and Beale Street and famous restaurants like the Rendezvous where some of the best BBQ ribs you will ever have will be found. We are one hour from Old Miss at Oxford. There is also the FedEx Forum and AAA minor league baseball team the Memphis Redbirds. At the end of Beale Street, there is the mighty Mississippi River where you can steam up and down the Mississippi, visit Mud Island or The Cotton Exchange, where they chased Tom Cruise through the streets of Memphis in the movie, “The Firm”. A leisurely ride on the old time trolleys is a must. And don’t forget Memphis in May – a month long celebration of fun, food and world class musicians from Santana to Eric Clapton to blues legends Howling Wolf and Muddy Waters. They have all been there. If you like golf, there is an excellent course just minutes away, There are premiere golf course minutes from the house. A little further down the road are nine Vegas style casinos with every game imaginable poker, blackjack, slots, roulette, craps – just name your game – 24 hour action. Each casino has its own buffet, steakhouses, coffee bars and snack bars along with major name restaurants like Paula Deen’s at Harrah’s Casino. Or visit The Tunica River Park and Museum just 15 minutes away where you can board the Tunica Queen for a trip down The Mighty Mississippi River (visit their website for dates and times of operation).
You will also find Top Star entertainment year-round at several of the casinos major venue auditoriums. Check the casinos for entertainment schedules. If you are in the area to explore the roots of blues, you are six miles from “Old Highway 61” where if you travel south you will come to the famous Crossroads of Robert Johnson fame in Clarksdale, Mississippi about 45 minutes south. Known as the cradle of the blues, dozens of famous bluesmen traveled Highway 61 from the farm lands of the delta, strait into downtown Memphis, Beale Street and Sun Records and the heart of the blues scene that is Memphis. All the honkeytonks and blues clubs are still open in Clarksdale. Come and rub elbows with bluesmen, famous and up and coming. You might even end up having a steak sandwich outside of one of the many clubs of Clarksdale talking to the guy beside you. It turned out to be Watermelon Slim. It is a wonderful place! I hope you will come and stay with us soon. There is more to do here than can be done in a week, but with a little effort, you can get a great feel for Memphis, the Blues and Tunica from our house. We hope to see you soon. Tom and Anita Bostick contact us at 1 (334) 354-8440.
