Dale's House on the Lake

  • 5 of 5

Dale's house overlooking Lake Tahoe is spectacular. We had a wonderful family gathering there. The house lends itself to both time together and the ability to have space apart as well. The views from all other bedrooms, except the owners suite are spectacular. The 2 elevators make getting luggage and groceries to the house and then dinner from the kitchen to the outdoor table easy. In general the house provided the perfect get away and gathering spot for our family. We even hired Dale to take us out on his beautiful boat one day and had a great tour of the Northern portion of the lake and ended with a great Lunch at Garwood's. We all loved the lowest deck, which had ample natural shade and a small beach next to it right at the lake.

There are some particularities to be aware of when renting Dale's house. 1) Dale will likely be on the premise on a regular basis. 2) The house is well maintained, but there are elements that are dated and could use some updating. There are beautiful hardwood floors in the house but there is also shag carpet in areas that feels a bit worn. 3) The driveway is directly off route 28 which makes walking from the house unappealing. 4) The bed sheets are mostly polyester. 5) the owners quarters is not in the main house and does not have views.

For our group, while we noticed these as potentially less than 5 star issues we adjusted and saw the positives pretty quickly. We were happy to be at the property all day and get exercise using the stairs and swimming. We also accepted that Dale was an active on site owner and invited him to join us for dinner on the final evening.

In all Dale's place is a wonderful place for a gathering of the sort we had hoped to have with the family. (Though next year we do hope for cotton sheets.)

Owner's Response: Hi Rob, Thanks for your comments it was a pleasure to have you. The sheets we use are Spalena Spa sheets which are microfiber, 50,000 strands per inch and known to be superior to cotton sheets which are much cheaper. The Microfiber sheets are supposed to be superior and breath improving moisture management. We have had many positive comments that the sheets are more comfortable than cotton. However that being said if anyone wants cotton sheets we have those too and we'll put them on for you. Thanks Again and come again. Dale

Amazing views, very warm and beautiful house

  • 5 of 5

We just came back from 4 days in Tahoe.

This year we decided to splurge a bit and tried to find a home with a beautiful lake view.

We were blown away!!!

When the first morning came - and we saw the amazing view of the lake and realized that we have our own lakefront with a peer was truly unbelievable.

We got pictures and memories for a lifetime.

The home was big and very well taken care of.

Dale, the owner, was also great host:

To put this in comparison with the other review that complained that the owner was a overbearing, Dale welcomed us at his home when we arrived, showed us around, and then left us.

He sent us a text 2 days later to ask if everything is ok and whether we need anything and then finally he wished bye bye the day we left.

Anyway , again we were very happy with our stay

For the past 5 + years, 14 of us men go on our annual Guys Trip. This year, we picked Incline Village area, Dale's property. Ok, one positive, location close to Hyatt and beaches. Now, negatives, and there are several. First, check in was 3pm, we showed up early, 230p. Dale and his guest did not leave the property until roughly 5pm, Not acceptable. 2nd, 2nd day, Fri am early, I was outside Trying to enjoy the view, when Dale and his 2 dogs came onto the property to Suppositely retrieve something from his pier/dock area. Afterwards, Dale requested If he could use the bathroom, said having bad diarrhea this am. I said it was ok. Not only did he use the bathroom but he proceeded to take a shower in one of the bathrooms connected to property we were renting. UNACCEPTABLE. After all this, he then fiddled around in his garage, stating he needed to move cars around so he could use one. 2hrs later, DALE still on property. In the almost 30yrs of renting properties for vacation, have I Ever experienced such unprofessionalism from an owner. I could go on and on but I imagine I have lost most reviewers attention.

Bottom line, DO NOT RENT FROM DALE. I'm up in incline several times a year, would rather sleep in a park, in the snow, than stay at his property.

Owner's Response: This was the only bad experience I have ever had with renters EVER. One can see from my consistent 5 star reviews that there is obviously something wrong here. The negatives are largely made up and I certainly did not shower at the property during their stay. This group only rented for three days yet I had 6 trash cans full of bottles, cans and trash to haul off. I have never seen such alcohol consumption. In addition they broke a $600 umbrella that I had to replace. I only charged them 1/2 of the replacement cost and they were very upset to have to pay anything, thus the true reason for a negative review. My house was left a mess. I will never accept a rental for a "guys weekend again" These guys came in multiple huge jacked up trucks taking the entire driveway. They even got into the garage without permission and unloaded their trucks, into the garage which was not included in their rental contract.

Perfect place for a perfect wedding

  • 5 of 5

We had our wedding there and stayed a week. At first I thought it was a lil pricey but once you look how much you would spend at a resort in Tahoe or another venue you realize that at Dales house you get a better more secluded view than anywhere else. The house was beautiful and though a lot of stairs it does have elevators so no worries!!! Dale was on sight when we needed help or had any questions but definitely did not overcrowd us. We had a great time and highly recommend this venue for a relaxing getaway and I implore you to look first here for a wedding destination it was perfect!! Thank you again Dale for being a part of our perfect wedding date!!!

Beautiful home, stunning views, kind homeowner

  • 5 of 5

The home is beautiful, grand, and well-appointed, as-advertized, and Dale is a thoughtful and generous host. He spent lots of time making sure we had a thorough tour of the home and knew how to use all its features. He was very accommodating and wanted to ensure that we had a great stay. The kitchen is spacious and well-stocked with all the kitchen tools and cooking essentials (spices, oils) you might need, the home was very clean and in excellent condition, and the fireplace and hot tub were very popular with our group. I highly recommend this property!

We found this property on VRBO and decided it would make the perfect place for our wedding on 8/15/2015. Dale did not disappoint! He went above and beyond to make sure things went smoothly for our perfect day. He even rewired an outlet in the house on the spot to accommodate our lighting for the reception! We booked the house for a few days prior to the wedding and a few days after. We had relatives staying there with us that had never been to the lake and they were in awe. The property is so well taken care of, Dale clearly spends a lot of time to care for all the little details. We rented his second buoy and had our boat on it for the time we were there also which was so convenient.

The day of our wedding was perfect! All of our 160 guests loved the house and the party was amazing! Thank you Dale for being such a wonderful host and help.
