About Doug McGlumphy and Jennifer Greer

Doug McGlumphy and Jennifer Greer have been married for 24 years and enjoy working and developing our family farm. Doug works as an artist and educator while Jennifer works as an academic advisor. Both enjoy raising their two sons and passing on the property's history to the next generation.

Doug McGlumphy and Jennifer Greer purchased this cabin in 1997

Why Doug McGlumphy and Jennifer Greer chose Stone Creek

Our cabin is located on 150 acres of rolling farmland in the Stucky Valley, of Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Originally settled in the 1830's by the Moomaw family, the farm was purchased in 1903 by Doug's great-grandparents, German farmers, Jacob and Emma Hisrich. It has remained in our family for over 110 years.

The farm subsequently passed down to Doug's grandparents, Laura and Vernon Hisrich who lived, raised a family and farmed the property for many decades. After their deaths the main house, outbuildings and land remained underutilized for many years and fell into decline until we purchased them, along with Doug's parents, Ed and Pat (Hisrich) McGlumphy in 1997.

In addition to the built environment, the farm consists of approximately 60% tillable land and 40% woods. In an effort to preserve the property as farmland, a local farmer uses the fields to plant crops for his dairy farm. The remainder acts as a bird sanctuary, as well as habitat for local wildlife.

We enjoy our farm and its family history and invite you to come and enjoy its peacefulness and tranquility with us. It is a labor of love and continues to be an ever-evolving endeavor. There is always something new to look at with each subsequent visit as we always have a new project in the works.

What makes this cabin unique

Our cabin and rural setting offers a truly unique experience for couples, families or friends to get away and relax. We even have a baseball field, hiking trails and an art gallery right outside your front door. Come and enjoy!

I can still hear the birds singing and the chipmunks chirping outside my window. I didn’t want to leave this beautiful place.

Immaculate and peaceful get away!

  • 5 of 5

Three friends and a baby snuck away to enjoy some time to catch up, leave the hustle and bustle, and just enjoy some peace.

It was sunny the first day, rainy the last and in between in the middle. The rain on the roof and skylights is so peaceful. All the blooming daffodils seem perfectly placed throughout the property.

Don't be fooled by the age of his home as the owners have thought of many things to make this a comfortable stay (although the upstairs futon is pretty hard and we'd say it would sleep more like 5 with the main floor bed being smallish (full maybe?)).

The beautiful cabin offered us just what we needed. We also enjoyed watching and listening to the birds and squirrels play outside. The sheets and linens are of good quality and the artistic characteristics of the owner are displayed as well. The bathroom is up to date with a rainfall shower head to enjoy. Clean, just so clean. (We've stayed in newer homes that are not so well kept.) my friend stated she expected to see more spiders or bugs for the age of the home and we did not see but a couple little ones outside the door. (No dust bunnies either.)

What a treat. Thanks so much, you've done a fantastic job restoring this cabin. (The pics of the process are displayed and such an amazing transformation!) blessings!

Very unique rustic cabin that is comfortable, clean and charming

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place for a peaceful serene getaway. Great for couples but also a small family can relax and unplug in a naturally beautiful setting that takes you back in time. The hosts are very friendly but also give you plenty of privacy. The primitive details of the cabin are impeccable, truly appreciated the artistry. A very unique experience!

What a great place for a getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this cabin! The longer we were there, the more comfortable we got, and we really didn’t want to leave. We were there for a February weekend which turned out to be quite wet, so we didn’t get to take advantage of the nature trail or the outdoors. But that was ok because it just gave us more time to cozy up inside this wonderful, rustic cabin. We believe we will definitely come back at some point, perhaps in the fall or spring when we can explore the trails and enjoy a fire at night. Doug and Jenn were great hosts and made us feel right at home. We definitely recommend this place for a romantic getaway

Amazing stayed 1/28 - 2/1/2018

I can't say enough about this place. We stayed for 4 nights and I didn't want to leave. The cabin is cleaner than a five star hotel and has everything just like you are home. The owners actually make you feel like you are home. It was snowing while we were there which was wonderful and we got to use the fireplace. We woke up in the morning no snow on the porch and cones we're set out where there was ice on the driveway. These small touches go along way. I already miss the cabin.
