Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom, 2.5 Bath, Maximum guest party of 4

Fenced Yard! No pet fees! You want to get away from it all? Look no further for the right property to visit! The Dog House is a dog-friendly 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home with a large wrap-around deck and a fenced in yard (4' chain link). You will see and enjoy great views from the deck - beautiful trees and ridges to see and the sky is usually amazing as well. Our guests comment over and over how private, and clean, our house is.

We use natural cleaners in the home. We try and provide cruelty-free, vegan products when we can for shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

You'll have wifi, satellite tv, comfortable furniture, and plenty of space!

We are in Whispering Pines just 1/2 mile from the East Verde River if you want to go and play in the cool water. Otherwise, there are plenty of hiking trails around and the national forest right out our back yard! You won't see your neighbors, except the wildlife.

The house has a large great room complete with comfy furniture, and windows galore! The room is overlooked by the loft, which we've set up to use as a reading nook or game room. We've assembled a fairly good collection of board games to enjoy on a rainy afternoon or cold winter's night.

The kitchen is complete with all appliances, including coffee maker, microwave and dishwasher. We've stocked some basic spices as well as coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

Wildlife sightings so far: bobcat, elk, white tail deer, raccoons, coyotes, rabbit. We've seen bear prints, but no bear yet!

We are licensed by and pay taxes to the State of Arizona for this business. We also donate 5% of our gross income to a local animal shelter.

About Dena Pierre

After vacationing with our dogs in several VRBO homes over the last 11 years, we decided it was time to purchase our own vacation home! We searched for over a year for the perfect vacation setting in Payson, Arizona. We live in Scottsdale and love to travel to the Payson area and up into rim country. We moved to Arizona from Ohio (with a couple of stops in Florida and Oregon as well!) and although we miss Ohio State University, we enjoy the state of Arizona and all it has to offer. The diversity is amazing. We have been using VRBO as guests for the last 5 years, so we like to think we know a thing or two about what our guests might want. That's why it was such a hard search for this home. We are huge pet lovers - Tom is a pet photographer in fact. We never travel if we can't take our pets, so that's why our focus on dog-friendly accommodations.

Dena Pierre purchased this house in 2013

Why Dena Pierre chose Payson

This property is private and has a beautiful deck you can sit and enjoy the cool breezes and wildlife from! And with this home you don't have to rough it - it has all the amenities as you would expect, so you'll be comfortable enough to relax. This is no 'little cabin'. You will not be roughing it here.

What makes this house unique

This lot is as near perfect as we could get! It backs to the Tonto National Forest and the other sides of the home are well protected from the trees and space so you can forget there are other people living nearby!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We always enjoy your home! It's super private and quiet and always so clean. Love being able to bring our dogs with us while we relax in the pines.

Very relaxing beaufiul excape

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time at the Payson Dog House with our dogs. It was super clean and had everything you could want in a secluded cabin in the woods! We even went into town and brought back Pizza from Payson and it was still warm when we got back to the cabin. We enjoyed some of the area hikes and there are some spectacular views in the area just right out your back door.

Super clean, secluded doggy fun land!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for just a couple nights, but wish it could have been more! The house and amenities were wonderful. We have a couple senior dogs who had never used stairs before and had a learning curve to all the stairs on the property, but after the first night they were old pros(there is even a dog ramp off the master bedroom). Besides the beautiful home and furnishings they also provided anything your dog could need...bowls, beds, towels, and toys! If you want to go up north and bring all your dogs with, this is a great place to stay!

We had a wonderful stay at the Payson Dog House!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the layout, location & cleanliness of the Payson Dog House!

Only one thing that we would’ve liked even more is if the property had an outdoor grill. But overall, we enjoyed our stay there.

Owner's Response: Thanks! Glad you enjoyed yourselves! Since we have many months each year with fire bans, an outdoor grill becomes too much of a liability. We also don't want to draw in skunks, mice, etc.

The Dog House-My favorite place!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot rave enough about this property! We decided to "unplug" for the Christmas holiday with our dogs and knew right where to go...The Dog House. We have been here before and it never disappoints! The dogs have a blast running on the secured, fenced property barking at elk and chasing squirrels! And we just relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful pines. This house is so spectacular and the views are beautiful. If you want a real get-a-way with your fur-babies in the pines, this is the place to go!!! My husband calls it Disneyland for dogs and I think he is right on the money! Thank you Dena for allowing us to stay in your home, it is truly one of my favorite places!

Beautiful very large and welcoming home in gorgeous surroundings! Loved our stay here!!

  • 5 of 5

I really loved this house. It was well maintained and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. The floor to ceiling windows/glass doors in the main room had amazing views, particularly at sunset! We loved the area as well and spending time outdoors walking trails through the woods and enjoying the firepit in the large back yard. Look forward to hopefully staying here again!!
