About this property

Simply Elegant Log Home Only 3 Minutes From Butternut! Recently renovated!

Comfortably sleeping 8 to 10 people, this sunny log cabin has a fireplace on each of its three levels, making it especially cozy after a day of culture, hiking or on the slopes. The main floor has an updated open kitchen, dining room and living room with cathedral ceilings, skylights and a wood-burning fireplace. There are also two bedrooms and one bath on the main floor. Upstairs, there's a spacious master suite loft with a gas woodstove and full bath. The lower lever has a recently updates bright family/entertainment room with a flat screen TV , gas woodstove, two bedrooms and a third bath. Two large decks provide excellent private outdoor space for year-round grilling, and a gas heater for autumn stargazing on the comfy patio furniture. 3 minutes from both Ski Butternut and the Appalachian Trail, this house is a quick drive to downtown Great Barrington, its restaurants and shopping, and 20 minutes to Tanglewood. A perfect place for shared meals by the fire, yet with a separate level for kids to hang. We invite you to kick back and relax for a weekend, weeks, or the whole season.

Where we feel at home...
As our winter memories grow (along with our kids) year after year at Strongwood, we couldn't be happier with this home. The home itself is in an ideal location - close enough to all the things the Berkshires have to offer, yet quiet and secluded. The layout is great for dinners with family and friends. And the owners are just fabulous - kind and responsive. They make continuous updates to the house over the summers and we always look forward to spotting what's "new." This property is truly our home away from home during the ski season, and we savor every moment and memory we create there!

Another great stay at Strongwood!
We just finished up our third ski season at Strongwood and, once again, it was very hard to pack up and depart. So many great memories being made here, and it's amazing watching the kids grow and how much they appreciate the house. We loved hearing that the house seemed "happy" after we had been there. This is a great house, great location and perfect for family and/or friends. The owners make updates every year and their love and appreciation for the property is clear. We are already looking forward to returning.

We are privileged to share our second home with others for family gatherings. parties and escapes. We love to share our home with repeat guests, and hope you will make your own warm memories here.

Why they chose this property

We bought the house when our 3 now adult children were little. We loved the warmth and simplicity of the log cabin, but the space and light of the five bedroom design clinched it, and the separate family room on lower level is a kid haven, recently updated. That, and the great room, which really fosters hanging out and conversation, in any season, any time of day. Some day, we will retire here, but until then, we like the thought of nice people using our home to escape, re-connect, sink in. Its a comfortable house.

What makes this property unique

One feels like one is far away, but if you forgot to get milk, it is literally five minutes to Price Chopper.
There is utter privacy on the back deck; you can do yoga there, or watch the stars. The front deck is big enough to seat twenty for dinner, and you feel like you are in a tree house. There are raspberries in summer, and an infant sized sledding hill in the winter. Or drive around the corner, and Ski Butternut, the most family friendly ski resort in the northeast. If you bring a kayak, it is five minutes to the ramp on Lake Buel. If you hike, try the AT, or Bear Mountain State Forest, or East Mountain State Forest , which our property abuts.
