About this property

Short walk to village...with private wooded setting. EV Charger in parking area.

As Lake Placid Club grew from its inception in 1895, it experienced many expansive changes. At it's height, the private club included 6,000 acres in an extensive development of accommodations, recreation facilities, service buildings, farmland and forest. In the early part of the 1900s certain members of the club were no longer satisfied with the hotel-like accommodations in the large club house. Over time some 40 cottages were built near, but separate from, the main building. Today, fewer than a dozen of these historic buildings remain. Our house, Juniper Cottage, built in 1923, is one of them. The total renovation of the property, completed in July 2005, has been as respectful as possible to the original Juniper and is designed to maximize its secluded forest setting and the variety of mature trees which surround the house.

Juniper has 4 bedrooms each with their own screened in porch and bathroom. The master bedroom has a gas fireplace (gas), queen bed, sitting area with two chairs, and a closet. A second bedroom on the main floor has a queen bed and closet. The third main floor bedroom has two twin beds and a bathroom with whirlpool tub. The fourth bedroom is located down a spiral staircase from the main floor to a walkout lower level. This bedroom has two twin beds and a private bathroom. The laundry room is also downstairs with both a washing machine and dryer.

The living room has a 14 foot cathedral ceiling, great views of the forest and a large stone fireplace. The room is perfect for sitting around the fireplace reading, chatting, watching TV, or listening to music on the Sonos system. Juniper is equipped with an iMac and high speed internet. Want to unplug? Then feel free to read one of the many books at Juniper, play one of the board games or do an old-fashioned jigsaw puzzle.

The galley kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, gas range and oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, microwave and a large selection of dish ware, glassware, pots, pans, utensils, etc. If you prefer to grill, there is a gas grill right outside the front door.

If you come in the winter to ski, we have plenty of room for your equipment. There are racks to hold eight sets of skis. Also, inside the front door is a small, heated mud room with benches and coat racks so you can easily remove your winter clothes and boots without bringing them into the cottage.

There is a small shed near the parking area of Juniper to put garbage and recyclables. And in the back yard there is a hammock for enjoying the good weather and a lean-to in case you want to spend a night outdoors or just enjoy the fire pit in front of it.

Juniper is close (10 minute walk) to town but situated in a private-wooded setting. This allows for privacy when grilling and/or dining outside. Or just when sitting with your family and friends around the outdoor fire pit roasting marshmallows.

From Juniper Cottage you can easily access many activities. It is a short walk or bike ride into town and all that that has to offer including a park, public beach and tennis courts. On the Lake Placid Club grounds there are three golf courses designed by Scots for the Lake Placid Club.

There is access to many hiking (and biking) trails right outside the front door. In the winter, these trails are great for cross country skiing. With a car, skiing at the Whiteface is 15 minutes away. In all seasons, near-by activities and attractions are truly limitless.

For property security, outdoor security cameras are located at the front and rear doors and cover portions of the front and rear yards. Ringing the doorbell on the front door will ring the indoor chime and will send a ring alert to us.

Snowy weekend
Great little spot. The kitchen is very small…. can’t be much more than 20sq ft, I would definitely knock down the wall on the one side to open up the area. One of the bedrooms on the main floor with two single beds was very cozy too. I would say place is more for two couples with two kids each versus an 8 adult space. We enjoyed it though!

Nice house but false advertising
Great little house, cozy, great location. THEY DO NOT HAVE A HOT TUB. The jacuzzi bathtub which they advertise as a hot tub cannot be used because there is not enough hot water to fill it. We always look for properties with a hot tub, and this house lists one as an amenity, but does not have one, and has no evidence of ever having one. Other than that it was a great stay

We have been vacationing in Lake Placid for the last thirty years. It is our favorite family vacation spot regardless of the season because there is always something to do.
In addition, we love the international feel of Lake Placid and enjoy meeting people from all over the world.

Why they chose this property

The private setting that is only minutes from downtown Lake Placid is what drew us to this property. Also, we love that it is in the historic Lake Placid Club with access to golf, tennis, and a private beach. We know many of you are concerned about Covid-19 and the effect on Lake Placid. As of May 2020 the village is beginning to open...and plans are underway to close half of Main Street in town to allow businesses to expand into the street and sidewalks. It is beautiful in Lake Placid as I write this and hiking, biking and water sports are still here and waiting for you.

What makes this property unique

Adorable cottage in great setting! Juniper is cozy but big enough for large families and/or groups of couples or friends. Each bedroom has its own bath and private screened in porch. If your feeling adventurous and want to sleep outside bring your sleeping bag and spend your night in the ADK lean-to in the back yard. We fell in love with this cottage the moment we saw it. We're pretty sure you will like it too. Its secluded setting, close proximity to town and just about anything else you plan to do make it the perfect Lake Placid get away.
