We loved our stay at Southard Comfort! The house was impeccable, great amenities and the management staff was fabulous and checked in regularly to see how we were doing. We would absolutely stay here again.
We loved the home. It was just perfect. Everything about it and its location was spot on.
September 2019 Stay
The house was in a good location and was as pictured. There were a few things that keep it from being a five star property. The bathrooms are not what you would expect. The master bath is well done except for the height of the shower curtain that you have to duck to get under. The second bathroom features a lovely claw foot tub that includes a shower unfortunately it is surrounded by heavy plastic shower curtain that clings to you & makes it a challenge to find your way out. The fans throughout the house could stand to be replaced. Some vibrate when on high. The property management group was great. Their customer service was outstanding.
Hi Cheryl, thank you for giving us a review of Southard Comfort and we appreciate your suggestions. It is a lovely property with a nice size pool and convenient to Key West activities as well. We are glad you enjoyed your stay in Key West. Cindy & the HKWVR team
Beautiful historic home!
We absolutely loved this beautiful home. The location is great - walking distance to Duval Street but far enough away to be out of the fray. It's in the residential area and just walking around the neighborhood and admiring all the historic homes was one of my favorite parts of our trip. The bedrooms were comfortable, the pool was perfect for cooling off in the afternoons, and the bathrooms were updated. Two of the bedrooms share a unique jack-and-jill setup with a shared area with 2 sinks - it was fine for us since we're all close friends, but might be awkward if you're traveling with people you aren't close to. The outdoor shower was a treat and we often ended up fighting over who got to use that one vs. the claw-foot tub shower. The check-in and check-out process was easy and communication was great. Highly recommend this lovely home for your visit to Key West!
Hi! Thanks so much for your perfect 5 star review! We're so happy that Southard Comfort met all of your expectations for a memorable vacation. The location can't be beat for getting to all that Key West offers. The best part though is then coming home to a private pool and lush gardens for relaxation. We look forward to your next visit to our island.

This home was more than we expected. It was beautiful inside and out. The pictures do not do it justice. The property management company was great to deal with. They were very helpful with checking in and making sure we were OK over our stay. The house is about a mile from Duvall St. which wasn’t a bad walk. There is plenty of room for 6. There was two full bathrooms upstairs with the 3 bedrooms, a half bath downstairs and an outdoor shower. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The pool was nice to relax in and cool off. There was two parking spots which is great for people driving there. If you don’t want to walk we took Uber a few times and it varied between $5-$10. I would definitely recommend this property.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review of Southard Comfort. Duval St. is loads of fun, but then coming home to a cool pool is a dream. Please come back for another great stay in Key West.

The property manager was very helpful.
The vacation rental was spotless.
I was very happy with the location.
I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.
The house was beautiful it checked all the boxes for sure. The pool was a nice touch to relax in after a hot day out on Duval St. The property management company was great. They were friendly and helpful. They gave us tips on things to do, they called us to let us know the house was ready to get into early. It was about .8 mile from Duval St. which was fine with me. We did Uber sometimes because some of us were not as happy about waking and that was around $6. I would recommend this house for anyone planning to stay in Key West.
Hi Nicole, Thank you so much for your wonderful review of Southard Comfort. Duval St. is loads of fun, but then coming home to a cool pool is a dream. Please come back for another great stay in Key West. Smiles, Mary Ann & the HKWVR team
ABOUT THE HISTORIC OLD TOWN KEY WEST NEIGHBORHOOD:
The heart, and some would say the soul, of Key West is Old Town. Originally the city’s center, Old Town is today the central location for Key West’s historic district and tourist destinations.
Old Towns Duval Street, which stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean is the main artery in Key West. Intersected by Truman Avenue, Duval Street provides the backbone from which Key West’s historic homes, seaport and cultural centers extend.
Old Town, particularly those areas North of Truman, is the neighborhood most people think of when they think “Key West.” Its homes are modest bungalows and magnificent mansions that live side-by-side along Fleming, Eaton, Margaret and Southard.
Old Town is generally the area west of White Street. Locals divide Old Town into two parts: South of Truman and North of Truman. Bahama Village, the neighborhood settled by Bahamian immigrants, is officially part of Old Town and it has maintained its character and distinctive Bahamian culture.
Old Town reflects the island’s long history as a seaport and cigar manufacturing town. Wealthy landowners built the magnificent Victorian and Gothic mansions surrounded by the small cottages that have become quintessential Key West. Since the 1970s, renovation and restoration of these homes has been a major part of Key West culture.
Beautifully updated inside and historically significant outside, these homes reflect the partnerships among homeowners, architects, builders and landscape professionals.
Strict construction and architectural guidelines and restoration and renovation consistent with Key West’s history have ensured Key West’s Old Town maintains its exceptional sense of place.
