About the host

Hosted by Alan Burricks

Host profile image
Basil is an architect and his wife Elsabé is a historian. In
2012 they relocated to Hermanus from Johannesburg, where they had previously
resided for approximately 30 years.

They have a son who stays in London and a daughter who recently moved to
Pretoria with her husband and four young sons, having stayed at 13 Wandel
Street in the Gardens since 2013.

Why they chose this property

Your host and hostess Alan and Lorette Burricks saw
the potential of restoring a portion of a heritage home, now Lemon Court, to
ensure that the convenience and comfort of local and international visitors
are fully catered for. To achieve this objective, they focused their
considered and creative efforts on the inherent authenticity and uniqueness
of the building.

What makes this property unique

Identified layers of use over time combined with a
sensitive approach to restoration provide for a unforgettable and enjoyable
experience at Lemon Court. This venue is located within walking distance of
the Houses of Parliament, the central business district of Cape Town,
fascinating places that are rich in history and several amenities.
