About Tasey Miyahira Owner/Manager

I grew up here on Maui by Mama's Fish House on the beach of Kuau with many fond memories of spear fishing, catching lobster, and grilling our catch on the beach. One day, me and my buddies were watching Don Ho singing, 'Tiny Bubbles' at Mama's Fish House as a young boy peeking in the window.

As I grew, I went hunting for deer and pig upcountry. Then I knew, upcountry Maui could be my piece of paradise in the clouds. The tranquil cool breezes, lush greenery, and the many rainbow skies were for me.

Tasey Miyahira Owner/Manager purchased this house in 1991

Why Tasey Miyahira Owner/Manager chose Makawao

Our piece of paradise is this mountain home. We work all day or play all day; then return to relax at our private country home. We enjoyed raising cattle, planting fruit, and flowers of different varieties to share with our family. The elevation keeps it cool and green year round. There are close amenities, shopping, and activities.

What makes this house unique

Our sunsets, rainbows, and ocean view from the lanai at breakfast or early dinners.

Where the home was built on the back of the property for privacy.

The separate lower level for our older children; after a hard day at work, sometimes allowing our six children to invite cousins and friends to the lower level to watch their kid movies, play games, or listen to their stereo.

The separate upstairs den, TV, and stereo for us adults. The master suite Jacuzzi for relaxing.

Family cooking together and visiting outside our carport with the cool breeze. Where our children would run, bike, and play with no worries down the private drive.

The small town amenities, activities, and the open green mountain pastures minutes away.

Wonderful setting.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much. The home was very clean when we arrived, there were plenty of towels and kitchen equipment. We really enjoyed the goats, and the outdoor patio/Bar area.

It was really quiet in the evening. We especially enjoyed the lemons from the tree.

Peaceful retreat in the Upcountry

  • 5 of 5

Three adults and two teens had a restful time here for 8 nights. We live on some acreage in suburban Seattle with a couple of horses so we enjoyed the goats and cows nearby. We even saw a few newborn baby goats. The house is big with spacious rooms. Beds were great as were bathrooms and kitchen. This location is a good takeoff spot for all in Maui. We will definitely consider this property again when visiting Maui.

Thanks,

The Weaver Family

A stay in paradise

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house. It was just what the doctor ordered. Tasey keeps this house immaculate. The kitchen was well stocked. The house is in a quiet neighborhood. There are many shops and places to eat close by. This location is really nice, because you are in the middle of the island. It is a nice drive to the beach or local attractions.

The home is clean, comfortable and convenient to many activities! Plenty of laundry facilities and a well stocked kitchen. The home and yard is spacious and even has everything you need for a fun day at the beach! The nearby town has the best bakery and a fun town party every month. Perfect home base for a Maui adventure!

Great place for our family vacation

  • 5 of 5

This house is awesome! By far one our very favorite vacation rentals. It was very peaceful, comfortable, beautiful and well stocked with kitchen items! Being from a rural area in our home state, we loved being by the neighboring farms with cattle and goats. It was lovely and peaceful to watch them graze and watch the baby goats play. One goat even had babies on our last day there! Such a miracle.

We had beautiful rainbows there everyday. The grounds were lovely with beautiful birds and even some chameleons!

We will definitely be back!

Private Sanctuary

  • 4 of 5

The property is pretty private for the most part. You can see other homes around but it's not like it's right next door. They are pretty far apart. It has a very country environment yet pretty convenient to the local access roads around town.

When you first arrive, there is a long private driveway to the property itself. There are goats and two cows grazing on the grass near by so it was wonderful to wake up every morning, have our coffee and breakfast, take a morning stroll with our family and then watch the goats and cows come out later in the morning.

There are two bedrooms on the main floor of the home. One is a master with a nice master on suite bathroom equipped with a bathtub and separate shower. The bathtub is big enough for two people and baby. The jets in the tub were not worth turning since there wasn't much pressure to them but just move water around. The Master room bed wasn't comfortable and both my husband and I woke up with soar backs/necks each morning. The mattress is soft and even though there was some sort of mattress topper on it, there was some weird lump on one side of the bed. The 2nd bedroom has two queen beds so it's a limited space to put anything but for larger families I'm sure that wouldn't be an issue . We only utilized the 2nd bedroom with our baby's portable crib and barely had any room to place it in there. Can't speak for the comfort of the beds since we did not use them.

The living room, dining room and Kitchen are open. Living room has plenty of space to lounge, dining room has a long table to accommodate a big family (more than what we needed but was nice) and the kitchen was nice and open. I would say the kitchen equipment can use some updates. The pots and pans are all teflon lined but very scratched, cooking ladles were either plastic or cracked up wood and there was a plethora of kitchen knives but every single one of them were dull. We got a knife sharpener and sharpened a few to get by. But then again, it's a rental and I'm sure it's hard to keep nice kitchen equipment around.

The lower part of the home has two bedrooms and set up with a full kitchen and living room. Our dad used the master suite that has it's own on suite bathroom. There is no bathtub but has a nice full shower. He did also mention his bed was not comfortable and also woke up feeling achy in the mornings.

Overall it was worth our stay here and recommend others to stay. The location and environment is pretty awesome.
