About Rick Lifto

Recently retired, own and operate ranch with our house 1/2 mile south of the entrance. The cabin is another quarter mile south out of view of the main house. We run horses and cattle on the ranch, but they will not bother you and we ask you respect their solitude. We love the country, rodeo's, golf, boating on Lake Bridgeport, swimming, tennis, racquetball, travel and the peace and quiet of the country.

Rick Lifto purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Rick Lifto chose Bridgeport

We bought this ranch from the granddaughter of a man who homesteaded this ranch in 1886. The stone house near the gate was originally part of the property. After we rehabilitated it with the intent to start a winery, the neighbors horse pasture was sold and changed the scenery, so we sold the house to a friend and developed the ranch land. As you arrive at the gate, you will have been provided a special temporary code to open the gate. Or, if you lose the code, just call Rick's cell number which will have been provided.

What makes this cabin unique

If you enjoy solitude, modern comfort, yet the ability to enjoy the country, we believe you will enjoy staying here. You can fish in the pond close to the cabin. It is stocked with catfish, perch, bass, and crappie. Each year we add more fish. In December 2017 we added another 1000 perch, sunfish, bass, blue gill, catfish & crappie. You can keep up to 4 fish to eat for each two days at the ranch. If you stay six days, that would be 12 (all in the same day or spread out). Anything five pounds and above does not count in your number.

Bring your horses, and you can use our corral and trails.

For the ranch bring your ATV, 4 wheeler, or simply enjoy the ranch on hiking the trails, biking, grilling or simply relax around a camp fire. Use the gun range with agreement to abide by the safety agreement. Also, we have bow and arrows for use at the range. We have two flat screen televisions with cable TV, DVD player, movies and Wi-fi. Enjoy an evening soak in the two person hot tub, located in the master bedroom.

Didn't want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

It was amazing! The cabin is fully stocked, extremely clean and comfortable. Rick, the owner, makes everything SO easy. He is very quick to respond to questions but does not intrude at all.

It is very private. It has so much to do already set up for you (horseshoes, GIANT fire pit, private gun range, canoe and more). It is worth it to take him up on the use of an ATV for a minor extra fee. It's close to restaurants should you feel like not cooking. Rick can give you some suggestions and I loved the Rooster's Roadhouse in Decatur. There is literally so much to do that next time I want to stay a week!

Loved our stay - we hope to be back!

  • 5 of 5

We were celebrating our son's 16th birthday with some his buddy friends and this cabin was the perfect answer to keep all of our boys occupied. It was rainy on Friday which was a bummer, but the boys did still have fun watching movies (great DVD library!) and playing Monopoly.

On Saturday the weather got better and we were so glad we rented the four-seater ATV... the boys had a ball. There was an issue with the battery at one point but Rick was kind enough to make some other arrangements with some four-wheelers while we waited for the ATV to be back in action... I thought that was so kind and Rick really did go above and beyond to make sure our weekend was extra special. We also enjoyed the shooting range, really nice firepit (loved the rocking chairs near the pit!) and the boys also enjoyed fishing and the use of the canoe.

The cabin was well stocked - I didn't really notice anything I was "missing." Only thing we noticed was that the pull-out couch can be difficult to pull in/out and the mattress was not in the greatest shape (but I think that is always the case with pullout couches :-). My youngest loved the "Spongbob" guest room too.

The master bedroom was also nice.. it was a little weird to have french doors (glass) leading from the master to the bathroom... so we had to be a bit creative sometimes with locking the bedroom door if we're using the bathroom. But really - this was such a minor thing.

I thought this was such a warm, cozy very clean cabin with all sorts of amenities for a very good price. We really do hope to be back... I so appreciate Rick's hospitality and extra special touches. Thank you so very much!

Super relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The cabin and property was perfect for what the wife and I were looking for which was a change of scenery and a lot of R&R. The on-site range and fishing was just what we wanted. We even got a bit of snow which made everything that much more different for us.
