Wonderful spot
Sugar Bear is a great find just outside Franconia Notch. Our family of four (plus our dog) had a lovely time staying here. The host, Kat, is very responsive and provided clear directions for us. The cabin is a recent build and very well appointed. Our 7 yo loved the drum set in the basement (parents beware!). We’ve been disappointed in the past with places rated highly for cleanliness only to find that others’ definition of clean must vary drastically from our own. That’s not the case here! The cabin was spotless and we were instantly comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need. We cooked most meals here as there isn’t much in the way of takeout options in Franconia. The Franconia Market had everything we needed, though, even with some dietary restrictions and a picky young eater in our group. The location is great with lovely westerly views and feels secluded on a heavily wooded site. We didn’t see any moose but heard them at night and found ample evidence of local wildlife (moose, coyotes, etc.) exploring the grounds. We used Sugar Bear as a jumping off point for hikes through Franconia Notch State Park which is about 15 min. away. If you’re looking for a peaceful, comfy place to stay, you couldn’t do better. We’d definitely stay again!

Perfect Winter Weekend
This was our fourth visit to Sugar Bear, we love it! The accessible walking trails and shared sleds and snowshoes are great. The view is the best! We always conclude our stay with a trip to Polly’s Pancakes and Cannon Mtn.

Hi! We are Kat & Matt. We bought this cabin because we love to adventure in the White Mountains. We hope you enjoy the property as much as we do, and please let us know if we can make your stay more comfortable.

Why they chose this property

We like to travel a lot, and whenever we do we like to stay in people's homes versus a hotel. We have set up the house with the guest in mind, making it as comfortable and cozy as possible. Plus you could not ask for a better location in the White Mountains!

What makes this property unique

The house is super private, and quiet. We own 14.5 acres and have a fire pit for the summer and a hiking trail on the property for any season! 2 sets of snow shoes provided! The front yard is great for sledding.
