beautiful setting
Grounds were lovely and impeccably maintained. Secluded location, surrounded by fields that seem to go on forever. Gorgeous and peaceful. Property owner easy to work with. Appreciated her attentiveness to providing directions augmenting GPS, which sometimes cannot locate the property, given its isolated, rural location. Dwelling interior definitely has seen better days. Furniture was shabby and worn (couch with broken springs, etc), and appears not to have been updated in decades. Disappointing, especially for the price paid.

A quiet getaway
This property is tucked away in a quiet, secluded spot. There is plenty of room, though the bedrooms and only bathroom in the main part of the house are pretty small. The best feature is the addition which is a large open room with three beds and a window air conditioner that opened up to the back yard with a nice patio, a grill and a burn pit. Also, it is nice that pets are allowed. Had the biting insects not been so bad we would have made use of the back yard. Also, The owner was very nice and easy to deal with. Perhaps we didn't arrive at the best time of year, because the ticks and mosquitoes made it unbearable to even be outside (not the owner's fault). The furniture was rather worn out, and the door knob fell off one of the bedroom doors. There were dirty dishes in the cupboard left behind by a previous tenant (perhaps no dishwasher was a struggle for someone). Having just the one bathroom made it difficult for my family but we knew that going in. There were plenty of towels, blankets and other necessities, as well as books and games. Wifi there worked well, and there was a small television in the livingroom. Overall, if you're looking for a camping type experience without the camping, this might be a good option.

A place to relax and free the mind.
Although not a traditional home was one of the better homes I have rented. Beautiful landscapes, friendly owner and so many new things to experience. I recommend this rental highly!

Wonderful farm and home
This home is in an ideal setting on a family farm. The home has plenty of sleeping spots and it has an interesting history. There are many bird species in the area - if you’re a birder - you’ll love it! Wished that we could have stayed longer!

About the host

I moved with my husband and my 4 daughters to this property in 1986. It is the home and farm on which I grew up. While my husband managed the farm, I worked as a Nurse Practitioner until I started my own business on the farm. My business was called Pipestem Creek. Along with several employees, we manufactured hand-made edible birdfeeders which we sold on the wholesale gift market. Our marketing success culminated in a TV segment with Martha Stewart. I am now retired with the exception of hosting weddings and reunions and other guests on the farm. We spend our winters on the South Texas coast. My passions are my family, birding, swimming, and nature in general, among other things.

Why they chose this property

The home is in a very peaceful setting on our farm. We are very rural. In the summer, birdsong is abundant. There are hundreds of feet of walking trails through different habitat. The gardens are open to all guests and are beautiful all summer and fall.

What makes this property unique

Working farm setting with total access to extensive gardens and walking trails.
