About Dawn Kingsbery

Our family has been vacationing in Port Aransas since the 1950's. As youngsters we swam in the Gulf waters, collected shells on the beach for hours, played and fished on St Joe Island, fished from the boat and jetties and stayed in the small fishing cottages that once were quite common, and now are treasured, in the original Old Town Port Aransas. Port A has been a life-long part of our family!

Dawn Kingsbery purchased this bungalow in 1988

Why Dawn Kingsbery chose Port Aransas

Our bungalow suffered minor damage due to Hurricane Harvey. We have made those repairs and are ready for summer! This is the 3rd hurricane for the little cottage, so we know she is sturdy and strong - just like the entire island.

Our delightful bungalow was purchased by our parents from the original owner, Ray Pollock (the activity center at the Presbyterian Church in town was named after Mr Pollock). Port Aransas has been our home away from home ~ and has continued to be for our next generations!

What makes this bungalow unique

This charming cottage has undergone a transformation with a light and airy front pergola covered porch and landscaping, new paint, new windows and a new air-conditioning/heating system. It is a quick walk to the Corpus Christi Shipping Channel, the beach and the marina. On your walk to the beach you might want to walk through the amazing University of Texas Marine Science School's nature trail! In addition to the beautiful beaches, Port Aransas offers many Summer activities including a 4th of July fire works display on Robert's Point (which can be seen from our front yard), educational tours, birding walks, First Friday Art Reception, live shows and music in the park, fishing tournaments (for adults and children) that are all offered to everyone! Additionally, there are some of the best restaurants in Texas located on the island.

Perfect quaint bungalow

  • 5 of 5

You are right down the street from a very uncrowded beach. It's pretty close to the heart of port a so you are never far from anything. There was plenty of space for our family of 6. I loved the fact that there was a washer and dryer so we could wash clothes and not have to bring so much. When we come back to port a this is where we will stay

Lovely Bungalow in Old Town Port A

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay at this lovely little Bungalow in Old Town Port Aransas. This was our second time to enjoy the comfort and coziness of this home with plenty of space for our family of 7. Everything you need is provided to prepare a nice meal, do your laundry, or just relax after a fun day at the beach. One thing that we did not like this year was the overgrown backyard. The grass and weeds were so high that we didn't feel comfortable letting our little ones out to watch the colorful lizards and birds and enjoy exploring the way they had the previous stay. We are looking forward to booking this lovely home once again next summer for our family beach vacation.

Owner's Response: Our wonderful original property manager is back with us! We have always strived to maintain somewhat natural landscaping, but never neglect. We are looking forward to your return this summer and know that you will be pleased that last summer's issues are all taken care of.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

As soon as we drove in we could tell we were home. The front of the bungalow is very cute and inviting. It has a great size front porch with a great view of flowers and wildlife running around. The back yard has a huge deck and outdoor shower to rinse the sand off from a day at the beach and the yard is awesome birds fluttering around every where. The inside was beyond our expectations. It was very well decorated looked as though it was decorated for us. The temperature was preset at a cool 73 degrees. The bed has memory foam mattress which is exactly what we sleep on. The kitchen is very well stocked with lots of dishes and amenities that you would want. The master bathroom is awesome. It's very large and includes a washer and dryer. We use VRBO for all our vacations from Hawaii to Port Aransas and Dawn's bungalow is by far the best place we have stayed. We make several trips a year to Port Aransas with one being a week long we always try to stay here from now on. Thanks Dawn for opening your house to us.

My Heart will always be in a Bungalow by the sea!

  • 5 of 5

This cute bungalow will always be our favorite place by the sea. It was not just another vacation rental. It is a home lovingly taken care of and opened for family coming to visit. There is a large pantry stocked with dishes, cookware, everything a grandmothers pantry would have. Lots of charm. Cozy furniture and bookshelves full of quaint knickknacks, sea shells, and interesting items. It has a large back deck and a beautiful "jungle" for the kids to explore. Birds, geckos and lizards will visit as you relax. It is a great place to stay. It was perfect for our family of 7 (4 adults, 1 teen and 2 little boys). A short 5 minute drive from the ferry and a couple of blocks from the beach. Within walking distance of several restaurants. Old Town Port Aransas will always be our choice location. We will return to this sweet bungalow. We have found our beach home!

Wonderful getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family came from Lubbock and stayed a full week at the sea coast bungalow and it was wonderful. We had all ages from 7 to 66 and everything in between. The house is open and roomy with everything there you need. The front and back yard are green, plush, and tropical. The beach and ocean are just down the road for tons of fun. Lots of restaurants and shopping are close by as well. You can be as busy as you want or relax and do nothing everyday. The option is yours. It was a great place to stay and we will be back for sure!!!
