About Curtis Gallagher

We moved to Colorado to enjoy the outdoors, what better way than to build your own dream home high up in the Rockies.

Curtis Gallagher purchased this house in 2010

Why Curtis Gallagher chose Quandary Village

This is a great home for entertaining large groups. The Chef inspired kitchen makes it easy to enjoy cooking for a large group. The home is close to everything in Summit County. The home is big enough for your group to all be in the same room, and spacious enough for you to get away as well.

What makes this house unique

The open floor plan with exposed wood beams, local blue stain pine from beetle killed trees, and raw steel makes this mountain getaway truly unique.

Rates are for entire 5 bedroom home, please inquire with owner if you have a smaller group.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We LOVED Curtis's home! A group of 9 of us stayed here for 2 nights and it was perfect. The pictures don't really do it justice--the decor and the size is really lovely. Everyone was really happy with their rooms. And the kitchen---WOW! We basically stayed in there the whole time. It's MASSIVE and has everything you need. I was a little hesitant booking only because no one else had reviewed it and I usually gravitate towards highly reviewed lodgings. However, I am SO glad we decided to stay here. I'd recommend it to friends and family and hopefully we can make it back in the summer. Only advice I'd give--if you go in the winter--and there is a chance for a snow storm--make sure you and your guests have nice mtn cars with 4 wheel drive. It's a bit off the beaten path but so worth it. Curtis was super helpful with the booking--he even added some pictures of the house I requested. It's about 20 minutes from Breck in snowy weather. Have fun!

Gorgeous home in Breck

  • 5 of 5

Spring break with the family couldn’t have been more perfect. We had snow 5 out of the 9days we were there, which was great as my daughter had never seen snow. As mentioned by the other reviews, the house is 11,500ft in altitude and the altitude sickness is real!! We rented an oxygen machine from Big 02, which made a big difference and lots of water. Curtis was very helpful and kept in touch during our stay. The last day (Easter Sunday) we had an issue with water, which unfortunately was just an inevitable problem. Curtis came to address the issue promptly. It was a memorable vacation.

Amazing House in the Mountains!

  • 5 of 5

I rented this house for my birthday weekend with friends. It's everything that the description says it is. It was a total of 8 of us that stayed in the home. Everyone enjoyed the space, their rooms and the amenities. There are 3 fireplaces, 4.5 bathrooms and a kitchen with all the appliances you'll need. We were about 20 minutes away from Breckenridge and about 30 minutes from Frisco. The drive really isn't bad and the house is totally worth it.

A few things to keep in mind:

1. The house is in extremely high altitude. I rented an oxygen concentrator in advance and I'm very glad I did that. The high altitude is not a joke. No one got altitude sickness but a few of us did get really bad headaches. DRINK WATER.

2. Get an all wheel drive vehicle, especially during winter. Enterprise did not give us an AWD vehicle and we got stuck on the hill coming up to the house after it snowed. We managed to figure it out but if you can avoid it please do so.

3. Cell phone service is very shaky/nonexistent up there and the Wi-Fi is really slow. It works for the basics but you cannot stream on it. It will slow it down for everyone. No biggie, we worked with it.

Overall, Curtis was amazing and easy to work with! He provided all the information we needed and was very helpful. The house was a hit with all my friends and made my birthday weekend amazing! Thanks Curtis!

Owner's Response: Yes, we highly recommend a AWD or 4x4 in the winter months. We are located in an Alpine environment and you never know when it will snow or how much.

The house was clean, spacious, located not far from the action, and most importantly reasonably priced. My family loved the house very much and would consider staying again.

Beautiful Home with many amenities!

  • 5 of 5

We were a party of 10 that stayed in this home the week before Christmas. I’ve stayed in many vacation homes before so I am familiar with how this works. Upon arrival we were not disappointed. The house was immaculate and the decor was beautiful. It felt like a newer home with the latest technology and design. It was also very spacious. Two rooms upstairs, two ( including the master) on the main level and a whole extra living /kitchen/ bedroom /laundry area arranged in the basement. That was a great place for our older boys as they had a TV and pool table.

I love to cook and was very happy with the large amount of cooking supplies provided. We weren’t able to access ALL the kitchen appliances available. Some of the ones I remember using were the Kitchen Aid mixer, the crockpot, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, Stainless tea pot and of course the stove/ oven. There were plenty of dishes, serving dishes, plates, bowls, silverware and cups. Upon leaving I even noticed Christmas china in the downstairs kitchen!

The outdoor experience and location of this home is fantastic. Our older children built a sled run out back by the fire pit and were able to use the snow shovel and sled provided. To our complete surprise, we were able to meet and get photos of the amazing neighborhood red fox that came to visit us several times during our stay. He even ventured toward us on occasion. The night before we left the snow had begun to fall and we awoke to a virtual Winter Wonderland. It was absolutely beautiful outside as all the evergreens were frosted and a fresh blanket of white covered everything.

I absolutely loved this house. The only issues we had were that it is kept quite warm temperature wise. We actually needed to turn it down and wear summer clothing at times. I had wanted it a little cooler so I could enjoy the fireplace and my winter clothing more often. You also need to be aware of the altitude. The house is higher than any we’ve ever stayed at in Colorado. In fact, it is even higher than the ski resorts. I say that because you may experience some symptoms of altitude sickness. Most of our party was able to overcome it in a couple of days. My mother however struggled because she has asthma and unfortunately had to depart early to relieve her symptoms.

Curtis was attentive to respond to our messages and communicated well with us. We are so thankful he allowed us to stay in his home this past Christmas. We made many wonderful memories!
