Great view and location, all beds 👌, spotless bathrooms, spacious, lovely stylish colour scheme

Cappnacush is a hamlet a few miles from Kenmare so at this house, you can soak up the remoteness of this area, see the sunrise over the bay and take a walk down the empty lane whilst being near enough to shops cafes and pubs with famous Irish hospitality. We had a lovely well thought out hamper awaiting us as we came into this gorgeous property. The house is spacious, warm and well thought out in design. We had 7 kids tearing about and 6 adults in our party and we never felt cramped. The large dining table in the kitchen area was perfect for us and we loved the smaller, more formal dining room with views too. One of our party commented that normally in a rental property, one bedroom has a good finish and the rest are mediocre but here all were beautifully fitted out with fantastic beds, shabby chic furniture and stylish farrow and ball colours. All fittings are good quality, stylish and sturdy so even with the kids we weren't worried that something would get spoiled. The crockery was lovely to use (we loved all the artisan serving bowls and platters) and the kitchen is well fitted out. The house feels like a well loved family home and a 5 star hotel all in one! We made great use of the firepit and enjoyed the cosy fire in the sitting room (by arrangement). Great location for both the ring of Kerry and the ring of Beare, lovely activities (horse riding, canoeing, swimming, seafari, walks on the Kerry way) nearby and about an hour to famous spots like Caherdaniel beach, Molls Gap and Macross House/Torc falls. There is plenty of garden to roam in to the front with the firepit and garage at the back. The visitor info was second to none with lovely books explaining everything. Our tips if you book this property are: remember the hot water is on emersion (we ran out a couple of times because we forgot to flick the switch). The upstairs skylights shouldn't be open wide at'll get the sideways rain in! Bring eye masks if you are in upstairs rooms as skylight has no blind (not a criticism just a hint if you need dark - downstairs have great shutters), when it rains go out anyway, we found it brightened up to blue skies every day despite dismal forecasts, try Paul at Skellig Michael Cruises if you want to visit Star Wars Island - he rang us every day to try to get us out there despite raging seas! Plenty to do for everyone here...enjoy!

Loved Every Moment

  • 5 of 5

Returned from Ireland a week ago and I'm not happy about it. I miss the Emerald Isle and all of its wonder. Traveling in a group of ten, we spent time in Dublin and then came to Kenmare Bay. The views from this house are truly stunning. You do have to drive a bit up the hillside to get to the house but that was not difficult. We had hired a private driver and a coach for the trip and still had no problem with the roads. The house itself was wonderful. Very welcoming and comfortable. Well kept with modern appliances. There are three bedrooms on the first floor which was great for us as one member in our party was 75 and prefers not to do stairs. Two bathrooms on the first floor and one on the second. Decorated beautifully. I very much enjoyed working with the owner of the house. She was very helpful and gave us some wonderful suggestions of things to do. From this location we headed out to the Ring of Kerry and Killarney one day. One day to Cork and Kinsale. One day to Cobh and Blarney and then some time in Kenmare. Great location for day trips. We had some hikers in our group and they were able to hook up with the Kerry Way trails which are marked by signs in Kenmare. I believe you can go all the way to the Killarney National Forest from these trails. We made some wonderful memories here that I will always cherish.

A lovely clean modern house with beautiful views from high up across the bay to Beara penisular.

  • 5 of 5

The house is modern and has a huge modern kitchen with granite worktops. One side provides a breakfast bar on the dining area side of the room. It's very easy to keep clean as are the hardwood floors. There are bedrooms and well appointed bathrooms on the ground as well as the first floor.

Outside the dining area of the kitchen/dining room is a covered sitting out area with a fire pit which we did not use but would be good for BBQs. There is also a large sitting room with fireplace which we also did not use because it was beautiful June weather.

The location half way up the hill overlooking Kenmare bay is fabulous and one can drive down to a pier for boating and swimming in the bay.

Going to opposite way, there are great drives over the hill/mountain to the Blackwater Valley, Molls Gap and Killarney. And it's also very handy to be so close to Kenmare ( about 10 mins drive) as well as to be able to go along the Ring of Kerry towards Derrynane.

Altogether a wonderful holiday.

Fabulous house & wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

Our group consisted of four families , including a mixture of adults and young children and found the house to be spacious , beautifully decorated and very welcoming. The whole house, and especially the kitchen, was well equipped and we spent many a night sitting around the fire pit toasting marshmallows and having a few glasses of wine. A real pleasure to stay in!

Aileen was fantastic to deal with , prior to our arrival making sure that we had plenty of really useful information about activities for both adults and children whatever the weather, and on hand to answer any questions we had about the area. The house itself is ideally located for exploring the Kenmare and local area.

I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone visiting the Kenmare and will certainly be looking to re-book next time we are in the area

The property is 5 minutes from Templenoe Pier, which is a hub of activity for the local community, swimming, fishing, boating (each pier in the area has it's own crews and races are held on Sundays during the summer months and are hottly contested), kayaking, triathalon training, shellfish collecting and, of course, a chat!

We are halfway between two other local community hubs, Pat Spillane's Pub and the Blackwater Tavern Pub in Blackwater. The Blackwater Tavern holds traditional dances on Friday nights, which are fantastic way to meet the local people and learn more about the area.

Cappanacush is 10 minutes drive from Kenmare town with its award winning restaurants and bars. We are minutes from Dromquinna Resort and the fabulous Boat House Restaurant.

The house is minutes from the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara is just across the Bay. To drive across the Caha Pass and down into West Cork to the towns of Glengarriff and Bantry is a must, as should a trip to Garnish Island be.

You have a choice of golf courses from the Ring of Kerry course (less then 5 minutes from the house), to the Kenmare Golf Club, to the internationally renowned Waterville Links Course or Killarney Golf Club (where the Irish Open was held). There is no shortage of golf courses each with a more spectacular view than the previous one.

Almost directly across the bay is Star Sailing Activity Centre with both land and water based activities for all the family. If a more sedate pace is your preferance there are a choice of boat tours of the bay to spot the wild life and hidden trasures which can only be viewed from the water.
