Villa Ratto is a private two-acre family estate that has been passed down to the next generation. The estate is nestled among the stunning California Redwoods on the bank of historic Austin Creek. It is the perfect setting for a memorable vacation with family and friends or a romantic couple's getaway. Plus, it’s the ideal spot to relax, unwind, and balance yourself with nature.

The grounds offer a large grassy area for outdoor games such as volleyball and badminton and a campfire ring in back for a relaxing evening by a warm fire.

The newly remodeled contemporary style accommodation showcases simplicity, style, and comfort. The main room with it vaulted wood beam ceilings features a large living room area, an open gourmet kitchen, and a spacious dining area that seats up to ten guests.

The living room area with its stone fireplace includes a comfortable and spacious leather sofa.

The fully stocked gourmet kitchen includes: 2 sinks, double ovens, ample prep areas, gas cook top, wine refrigerator, and quartz stone counter tops.

The master suite has a king size bed with a private bathroom. The master bath showcases a large walk-in shower and double vanity sinks. The two guest bedrooms are spacious with queen size beds and large closets.

About Tony Ratto

For over forty-five years, Cazadero and the Russian River has been our family summer and weekend getaway. Our family vacation home holds a special place in our hearts since our parents bought it in the summer of 1969. It holds wonderful memories and it is our pleasure to share it with you.

Why Tony Ratto chose Cazadero

It is a great place to come together with family and friends. The redwoods, the creek, the sunny open space, and the location are the perfect setting for a memorable vacation. Plus, it's only a two hour drive north of San Francisco. Great for a quick weekend getaway.

Also, it's only a 5 minute drive to the Russian River and the charming town of Duncans Mills, 15 minutes to Guerneville, 15 minutes heading west to the scenic Sonoma Coast, and close to some of the best wineries in Sonoma County.

What makes this estate unique

It’s one of those places that you have to see to believe. You can enjoy spending the whole day here. As evening approaches it becomes quiet and calm. It's the perfect setting to start a warm campfire, sit back, and relax.

This place is beautiful! The pictures don't do it justice! Very well stocked and easy to find and use everything. The fire pit and hot tub are a great time and Tony is really nice and easy to deal with!

fantastic property, great location

We spent the weekend here with 3 couples to relax, cook (and eat) and hang out and had such a great time. The house is fantastic, very comfortable, awesome kitchen, hot tub is great and our dog loved the spacious yard. We'll be back!

Absolute gem in the redwoods!

Thank you for sharing your home with us. Our family (3 generations) had a very enjoyable weekend, cooking together in your gourmet kitchen, playing badminton and volleyball, relaxing in the hot tub, hiking along the creek, watching movies and more! Your home is spacious and beautifully appointed. Your thoughtfulness shows through in every detail. So peaceful. So serene.

Mark W. gave a great review below and I second all of his comments in an attempt to not be too redundant, but I do have to add a little of my own two cents. I've utilized VRBO/Homeway for almost every vacation in the last 6 years and I have never had a better home than this one. What makes this the best:

1. Communication - Tony was amazing. Super responsive, super communicative, super nice.

2. This home has EVERYTHING you need. I wish there was a bigger font for the word "everything". Seriously - you can cook whatever your heart desires in this home. You can play games. There is plenty of wood for the fires. The grill is first rate. Chairs and tubes ready to go for your Austin Creek adventures. I could go on and on.

3. The house is spotless - eat off the floor spotless.

4. All appliances are top-notch and work perfectly.

5. Many of the homes in Caz are near the Cazadero Highway and the road noise (although not horrible), does bother some. This is tucked away across from Caz Hwy and set back off the road. It's very peaceful. You'll hear the cars when you're down on the creek, but otherwise, you truly feel away from it all.

6. Did I say this home has EVERYTHING you need? :)

And if you are contemplating a trip to Sonoma/this area and have never been, a few recommendations in addition to the great ones made in reviews below:

1. This is the perfect location if you don't mind short drives. 45 min to Healdsburg, 15 min to Guerneville, 5 min to Duncan Mills, 15 min to Jenner, 20 min to Bodega Bay. Beach, River, Wine Country all within a short distance, but yet you return to serenity and beauty of Villa Ratto.

2. Wild Flour Bakery (Freestone - a short 30 min drive) - Get the Egyptian Bread. OMG! Killer good. Only open Friday - Monday. And just down the road is the Freestone Artisan Cheese shop. Some great cheese and a lovely owner who will let you taste everything and have a great conversation with you.

3. Look at Tony's book for local farmers markets. Really great opportunity to enjoy local produce/crafts/etc. The Bodega Bay FM even had live music and food too eat.

4. Take a trip into Caz on a Saturday and look for their tiny little "farmers market". Look for the Whey Behind Blackberry jam - just like my grandma used to make it. SO good. And her soft goat cheese in the jar - amazing.

5. Sonoma Canopy Tours - super fun zip-line adventure!

We had an excellent time here. The house was beautiful and well equipped.

The kitchen was well equipped and we did a lot of cooking and grilling. In addition to the hot tub we had a pool and beautiful deck for sunning. The pool patio had steps leading down to the creek where we played with our grandchild. Overall, the property was stunning with amazing redwood trees in the front and back yards. I would return here and also recommend this place to friends as an ideal place to stay when exploring this part of the Northern California coast.
