Great Spot

  • 5 of 5

Had a really nice time at this cabin. The cabin is more like a house, but lots of wood and a good rustic feel. Very nice inside and well maintained - no bugs. Seems recently renovated with big windows, newer carpet and bathrooms upstairs. The furniture was in good shape and pretty new. Not much old "grandma" furniture here like some other rentals.

The kitchen was really nice and well equipped with all the needed items. TV and DVD worked well, Inet is satellite based so don't expect anything more than basic email and light surfing, but it works. I had my Mifi and got good reception.

Location is on quiet side of lake but lots to do. Really liked having a garage and privacy. Views are great and wrap around deck is awesome. Kids loved exploring the hillside. Private master bedroom downstairs and all the rooms are large.

Owner was super responsive and great follow through.

Can't wait till next year.

Fantastic Views of Lake Tahoe & Meeks Bay and Mountains

  • 4 of 5

I rented this home for my family to spend the Christmas Holiday at. The place was very clean and well stocked with supplies kitchen and bath as well as bedding. The kitchen was good sized for cooking and serving meals as well as the dining area. The surrounding area and homes were of equal quality and well maintained. You do need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to access the driveway if there is snow and ice which the owner made me aware of prior. The heat source was nice as you can control the room temp individually and the wood stove was a great source of heat as well. We truly had a great experience and I would plan a return visit to this property. The owner was responsive and friendly!

Cute cabin over Meeks Bay

  • 5 of 5

Older cabin, but well taken care of with a few updates. We only had 3 people staying there, so didn't use the basement bedrooms at all, however rooms were spacious, beds comfortable. The living room couch and bathroom rugs were quite worn, but soft and functional. The temperature had dropped quite significantly (first week of October, high in the 40's) so we used the wood-burning fireplace, but we could have just turned up the heat. Everything (kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, garage) was in working order, clean and accurate to the listing description. The owner was quick to reply and provided easy instructions for access, they also had a binder listing locations of local hikes, biking trails, restaurants, and various other things to do around town. The view from the cabin was perfect and from the back of the cabin, there's only houses below (so no worries about strangers peering the in the windows!) If you want to check out both the north and south side of Lake Tahoe, this is a great location to stay since it's in-between the two.

Lovely house, great location, amazing views

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Hope's property - the house is very spacious and has everything you need, it's in a great location for outings around the lake or just a short drive to the next beach/coffee place/supermarket/etc. and the views from the large balcony and the living room are breathtaking. Check-in/check-out was very easy thanks to the great host. Would definitely recommend it!

Great Summer Retreat for the Family

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful two-week stay at this property in July/August and found the house to be very comfortable for 8 sleepers. The upstairs living room, kitchen, and dining room are terrific open spaces for a group to socialize in. The bedrooms had a good amount of space and all had comfortable, sturdy, pine furniture with nice bedding. The windows upstairs have all been replaced and were very easy to open/close with new screens (the front door could use a screen for airflow). It was nice to have a garage to park 2 cars in. The wireless access was good & useful for those who had to check in to work. Great to have a washer and dryer too. We highly recommend this property, with a few small reservations.

It is an older residence that seems to be a work in progress in some areas in terms of remodeling. A deck runs along the north/west sides of the house with amazing views of the desolation wilderness that we thoroughly enjoyed for dining, hanging out, & remarkable stargazing, but it needs repairs/replacement. We had a "no bare feet rule" since nails were sticking up and splinters lurked--an issue since we had both elderly and young kids staying, ranging in age from 3-91 (only a few stairs in helped with the latter). The afternoon and evening got pretty hot out on the deck and we found that closing the blinds at that time of day kept the house cooler. The wind blows off the mountains, so keeping shade umbrellas up out there is a tricky option. The downstairs seemed to be a later addition & tricky to get to from the spiral staircase, but a broader staircase outside provided access too. The shower head and stall in the downstairs bathroom were old and could use replacing. The sliding door in the downstairs master bedroom had a broken lock (though twisting hand lock was provided) and could use a better screen to keep the bugs out (the other door could use a screen too).

Small things. One member of the party arrived first to tip us off that there were not that many towels, few closet hangers, a kitchen that could be better equipped (leaky drain under the sink too), and no broom, mop, or vacuum, to keep the floors clean. Easily remedied things, we could bring along or buy. The owners are very nice, responsive, and took care of business when we found some high ceiling lights out and that the neighbors had completely filled the outdoor trash cans on the day of our arrival. Thank you for everything & a really nice stay on the gorgeous west shore of Tahoe!
