Bathrooms1
Space 750 sq ft
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

Overview

About the property

1 bed, 1 bath. 4-6 adults, 2-4 kids. Roll out of bed, onto to the Beach

Sleep to the sounds of the ocean waves, wake to the smell of old growth forest and the ability to step right onto the stunning Chesterman beach that will give you hours of exploring pleasure, has Canada's best surfing and is rimmed in dramatic Mountains.

The cottage combines all the elements of having the inspiring expanse of shifting light, and horizon, and dramatic sunsets, with being cozy and embracing.

The cottage ideally takes up to 4 people. There is an another unit downstairs with queen bedroom, memory foam pull out sofa and full bath, which can be rented separately, but allows families or couples to travel together, and have a ample and private space to retreat to.

The construction of the house is such that you don't need to tiptoe if you are only renting the upstairs, and the flow of comings and goings is such that everyones privacy is protected. The deck and hot tub that has ocean views and out door shower are for your exclusive use

The bed is super comfortable with down pillows and down comforter. There is a pillow top for those who want a little bit more comfort there is also a fabulous sofa that doubles as a 2nd queen bed. it is firm rather than being a lumpy spring pull out. There is another down comforter under the window seats; which kids absolutely adore sleeping in, as they feel like they are in a tree house.

You can make a fire right on the beach, walk across the sand to the famous Wikininnish Inn to enjoy their world class dinning or indulge yourself at the Ancient cedars Spa.

There are great board games, and comfy reading chairs where you can watch the bald eagles and whales. There are few spots right on the beach as romantic as Herons Perch. We hope to make your stay a treasure of a memory.

Heron's Perch (aka: Paradise)

  • 5 of 5

Heron's Perch is perfectly located on the beautiful setting know as Chesterman Beach. Splendid views, long walks on the beach and West coast storm watching. The cottage is wonderfully outfitted and we lacked nothing. Our stay was relaxing and provided us with the opportunity to check out some of the local eateries. Highly recommend Heron's Perch.

Beyond all expectations

  • 5 of 5

This rental is the best I've stayed at in Tofino. We try to go at least once a year and have loved Middle Beach Lodge and some other VRBO rentals but this one takes the cake.

A huge part of this is location. The perch is right on the beach (okay there are some low trees for privacy that you look over the tops of) and close enough to town to make walking or better yet biking an option. The second part is the layout and design of the house. I build houses for a living so trust me I notice design. The window seats are phenomenal, the kitchen is a breeze to cook in (no BBQ but the electric grill works well), the deck gets sun (and yes we got sun!) and also has an area that is a bit protected, the hot tub is clean and if you are only renting upstairs you can drape your towels over the glass railings to block seeing the windows of the suite below.

We rented just as a couple (with our fur babies) and it was amazing just for the two of us. You could have more people or kids pretty easily as there is getaway space. In truth I almost wish it had rained the whole time because the house was so nice we didn't really want to leave!

Heron's Perch was great. Very beautiful west coast craftsmanship right on the waters edge.

This rental is beautifuly nestled in the wind swept forest directly on the shore of North Chesterman's . We loved the hot tub, fully stocked kitchen, late night walks on the beach, and surf at the door step.

We loved our stay!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for 3 nights in October and had a fantastic time!

The house is in a perfect location to the beach and to town. We had everything we needed in the house - the kitchen was well stocked for cooking and the bed was very comfortable.

Having a fire on the beach in the evenings was amazing.

We loved the hot tub on the deck and having our coffee on the beach in the mornings.

One minor criticism, would be the counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom. They were in quite rough shape and could be replaced.

We would definitely recommend this rental.

Cheers!

Paige & Ian

Owner's Response: Hi I am so so glad you enjoyed yourself. Yes - the counters are in dire need and are scheduled to be replaced - did you not see the very apologetic sign saying as much...? The cottage is booked solid for the next few months and so the first window in february has been slotted for it! I am sorry it was less than perfect for you:)) All my best, Catherine

Not at all what we expected

  • 2 of 5

If your looking for privacy or a romantic place, this isn’t it! Right beside beach access path and renters below this unit. Felt like we needed to tip toe as to not disturb people below. Uncomfortable furniture & bed.

Owner's Response: Dear Spencer and Shelley, Thankyou for your visit. It is unfortunate that you didn't have the experience you were hoping for. I must address, nonetheless, your comment that you were ignorant of the fact that people would be staying below you, for this information is clearly indicated in my listing. I had also tried to communicate that the house is built with big timber logs and that you didn't need to walk gingerly. Many people find being high up overlooking the roaring ocean while in the tall tress and secluded from the eyes of the many who walk Chesterman very romantic. I am sorry that didn't work for you. I also wish you had expressed that you prefer a soft bed as we have a yummy pillow top just for those who do. All my best, Catherine

Location

The Cottage is a private house located on a one half acre Right on North Chesterman Beach, which gets the longest sunset light. It is a world famous beach for its uninterrupted hard packed sand, mountains and world class surfing (it was the home of the entire Cold Water Classic Canada in 2010.)

Whether you're looking to catch your first green or you're a hot shot surfer this is a good beach to ride Tofino waves. You'll find all levels of surfers here and like all the Tofino beaches, there's lots of room for everyone. Stretch out in the afternoon sun and stay until sunset. Dogs run free and you can have a fire right on the beach. The stars come all the way down to the ocean.

Walking South towards the lighthouse and around the point you'll find South Chesterman Beach South Chesterman Beach perfect for surfing and often a good place for beginners, although you'll also find the experts there riding the waves. South Chesterman Beach can be a good place for the family to get into the water, there's lots of space for everyone to take that magical first surf ride or catch a wave on a boogie board. Bring a picnic and make a day of it.

Tofino itself is a wonder with its rich flora, fauna. It is where the whales play and you can take a zodiac into the inlet and watch black bears forage for shellfish along the shore. There is a lot of information in the cottage to introduce you to the fabulous adventures you can have and the incredible food that can be enjoyed. My favourite is Wolf in the Fog - which also just got voted best new restaurant in Canada:) You can rent bikes and surf boards while picking up excellent tacos just at the end of the road which is a 5 min walk. Everything in Tofino is close, easy and accessible, but waking up to the ocean view and the sound of the surf feeds the soul in a way that most of us have forgotten.

Hiking Trails

The Pacific Rim National Park offers many hiking trails through old-growth forest. Many of these trails are on boardwalk to protect the forest floor and take you either deep into the forests or down to secluded beaches. There's even one through a mystical bog. Closer to Curious Cove Guest House you may walk down to view the Tofino mudflats which is bursting with migratory birds, shore birds, ospreys, otters, seals and a beautiful view to famous Meares Island in Clayoquot Sound.

Shops and Tours

A short bike ride, a bit longer walk or a quick drive away is the village of Tofino. There you will find a vibrant community centre with whale watching tours, bear watching cruises, kayaking and surf shops, restaurants and cafés, galleries and book shops. The village is a perfect size for strolling through, looking in shop windows and seeing what makes this little town so picture perfect. Could it be the eagles nesting out front, the sunset from first dock, the boats in the harbour or the float homes glowing in the sunshine?

A perfect massage is a great way to end a long day of fishing or surfing at the Tofino Sacred Stone Spa. Be sure to book your treatments in advance as they are based upon availability.

Tofino means to fall in Love

If you come once; you will come again:)
