WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK? A fabulous ranch estate with 5 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, sleeps 12 (or more) on a mountain top. Mile High Hacienda is the Highest House in Texas and enjoys unbelievable views in all directions. The house sits on 10,000 acres (16 sq miles) of high desert. With two courtyards, one with a fireplace, the other with a Margarita Bar. It comes with a commercial kitchen and spacious dining area with seating for 12 plus. There are three large sitting areas and Navajo rugs add warmth throughout the entire house. Bedrooms are done in period style and the all adobe home offers privacy and views in virtually every window. The deck is truly a piece of work. It hangs off the front of the house and provides a perfect place for cocktails while providing an unbelievable view of the surrounding mountains and the lights of El Paso and Juarez, Mexico. The sunsets from the deck are stunning. It is the best view of El Paso you’ll see, we’ve been told.

Easily accessible, Mile High Hacienda is close to all of the El Paso & Juarez Metroplex. With national parks, hiking, shopping, and historical areas nearby, Mile High is a perfect setting for your visit to the El Paso area. Only 25 minutes from the El Paso Airport and downtown area, however you'll feel like you're a million miles away. Serenity and privacy are the comments we hear the most from our previous guests.

This estate is offered as a completely private unit for those that wish solitude, yet it is only 20 minutes from shopping. If this meets your requirements, book today, you’ll be very happy you did.

***EVENTS AND WEDDINGS***

The daily rental rates only apply to overnight guests up to 12 persons and do not apply to Weddings or Events. Mile High Hacienda can accommodate no more than 50 people due to parking on top of a mountain. If you'd like to discuss your upcoming event, contact us and we'll see what we can do for you.

About C.J. Johns

Greetings! I'm CJ Johns, a rancher, running cattle in some of the toughest country in the USA, and I wouldn't have it any other way. If you are here visiting I'd love to have you experience this wondrous country of mine. Some of my personal western collection is displayed in this home for your enjoyment. Mile High Hacienda was designed to give you the unique flavor and experience of this part of the Southwest. I hope you'll love it as much as we do.

C.J. Johns purchased this lodge in 1992

Why C.J. Johns chose El Paso

This was originally a large ranch adobe home that sat next to a 10,000 acre operation that I had previously bought. Rather than see it be bought and built into something uncharacteristic of the area, I purchased it. After completely rebuilding, restoring and remodeling Mile High Hacienda, it is now available for you to enjoy. With the ambience and solitude of the high mountain desert and the convenience of a city, Mile High Hacienda is truly a one of a kind find.

What makes this lodge unique

Views, views, views. 360 degrees of views from the top of the high mountain where Mile High is located. The stunning sunsets from the deck or the colorful Margarita bar, are argumentatively the best in the Southwest. When the mule deer come in to water in the late afternoon it is a truly breathtaking event.

Guided horseback rides are offered with advance notice as well as ATV rentals nearby. If you like hiking the Hueco Tanks State Park is only 6 miles away. The Guadalupe Nat'l Park and Carlsbad Caverns are down the road. Spanish missions are in the Rio Grande Valley.

Owner's Response: What a kind review, thank you very much. This property continues to get FIVE STAR reviews. Maybe it is the location, HIGHEST HACIENDA IN TEXAS or the beautiful views or the 10,000 acres it is located on or perhaps it is located only 30 minutes from the airport. What ever the reason thank you for your kind note and we hope to see you on your next trip.

This house was everything we wanted and more!

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful! It had more than enough room for our group of ten. The extras not mentioned in the listing were a great surprise. The views from every angle were amazing. We would definitly stay here again given the opportunity.

Incredible sunsets!

  • 4 of 5

Our group of eight adults just spent 4nights at Mile High Hacienda. The views are absolutely amazing. Beautiful sunsets and starry skies. The house is very large and has a well stocked kitchen. We took our own drinking water since it’s important to conserve. They have two storage tanks for water that is hauled in for showers. We had no problems with water while we were there. Our group enjoyed hiking Guadalupe Peak one day. That hike made the margaritas even better when we returned to the house. On another day we hiked Hueco Tanks. Don’t miss Cattlemans steakhouse in Fabans. All are easy drives from Mile High.

Fantastic Vistas

  • 5 of 5

The property is isolated, scenic, provides wonderful vistas in all directions and had ample room for our family of 9 adults and 3 children. The kitchen is well equipped and we had everything we needed to prepare meals. We also used the place to hold a birthday celebration for my wife's 90 year old mother and received many compliments on the location from guests. There was ample seating for the guests. Parking was a little bit of a challenge but was resolved without much effort. The property manager was also very responsive and accommodating.

If you rent this property (and I highly recommend it) plan ahead. You won't want to waste any of your time away from this place running into town for supplies. Get what you need, settle in and enjoy. Sunrises are wonderful and we experienced one of the best sunsets since we were in Maui. It was unbelievable!

March can be windy in this part of the world and we had big winds a couple of nights. The patio with the fireplace affords some protection from the wind and sitting near the fire was great!

I would definitely rent this place again if plans allow.

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous stay. Plenty of room for 12 adults with one bed to spare! Lots of gathering spaces for visiting! Kitchen had everything we needed. Didn’t get to spend much time outside cause it was windy. Beautiful views. Highly recommend this home.

Owner's Response: What a nice review! It really makes the team happy when they get reviews like this and makes all the little things they do seem very important. We will keep up the good work and continue to be one of if not the leading VRBO providers in the El Paso area. Thank you again. The team at MILE HIGH RANCH.

Atop the Hueco Mountains at almost 5,700 feet, Mile High Hacienda, is the highest house in Texas. With a 360 degree view encompassing two countries and three states, you'll experience legendary southwest sunsets, and a breathtaking nighttime view of the lights of the El Paso-Juarez metroplex and evening skies and stars.

Mile High Hacienda is only a 25-minute drive from El Paso International Airport. The Hacienda itself is a sprawling 6,500 square foot rustic ranch style adobe located within a 10,000 acre ranch (17 square miles). This makes Mile High a very private home that is also easily accessible to the city of El Paso. El Paso is the 17th largest city in the USA and the safest city over a half million.

It's five bedrooms range from king size to twin and an additional Stone Cottage for two is available. A spacious dining room served by a commercial kitchen creates a pleasant and comfortable environment for business meetings or dining. For socializing and entertaining we have a large bar room, a margarita patio bar, adobe walled courtyard with exterior fireplace as well as a deck built out over the cliff with an incredible view of the mountains and valley below.
