About the property

2Bd-2Ba Historic Coastal Cottage

Come on in and leave your worries behind because you will feel relaxed as soon as you enter. The house has over 40 windows for plenty of natural light and shades if your not ready for the sunshine yet. Upstairs, enjoy a glass of wine on the patio or go inside where you won't find any drywall, only tons of heart pine with a lil oak and driftwood here and there, and take a jacuzzi bath in the upstairs bathroom. There are 10ft ceilings and 2 fireplaces upstairs with a full kitchen, formal dining room ,formal living room, formal entry room and 2 sitting areas with great views. This house has tons of antiques along with a lot of my own personal touches. I have a Landline, Wireless and Satellite TV (just in case you still want to stay in touch with the rest of the world) also books, DVDS and boardgames if you have any free time upstairs. As you go down the original inside staircase you will find the master bedroom which has 2 fireplaces and the 2nd spacious bedroom and bathroom and a sitting/sun room. I have front loader Bosch washer and dryer just in case you feel like keeping up with dirty laundry while in town? And of course I am an animal lover!! So please feel free to bring your furry family members too!! Lets just try to make them mind their manners ;) There is a huge fenced in back yard with a gas BBQ grill, picnic table and extra chairs. Should there be a cool night or two, I also have a burn pit for the perfect s'mores. The property is settled on a charming corner lot with plenty of room for parking, just don't hit one of the pecan trees and take care when your around the magnolia tree. It came in a coffee-can from Birmingham AL, compliments of my 4th grade teacher that taught me at St.Marys Elementary School which is right up the road. The house is located in the historic district and is within walking distance to the waterfront area which is where the ferry is located for Cumberland along with shopping restaurants and bars. I generally have a few bikes and fishing rods laying around the house but I can't guarantee one of my neighbors or friends didn't barrow them so please feel free to bring your own. The house is fully equipped so just bring some clothes and a toothbrush and your ready to go:D

Quiet long weekend in St Mary’s

  • 5 of 5

The Oliver House is close to the river, shops and restaurants. Very quiet place with a very large back yard. Great if you have pets. We didn’t bring our dog because Cumberland Island tour is a long day

Eclectic Coastal House

  • 5 of 5

If you're coming to the St. Marys area, you will enjoy staying at this historic coastal home just blocks from the St. Marys River and town center. The kitchen is well-stocked and there are lots of enjoyable decorating details. The two bedrooms and a bath are downstairs with kitchen, living area, dining room and bath on the second floor. The two levels are connected by a winding indoor staircase with rather small steps. This was not a problem for us, but might be difficult for some to navigate .

We absolutely loved this house! It is a great mixture of old character and magical whimsy. Everywhere we looked there was something delightful to see. The house is extremely well stocked with top quality products. The backyard was so much fun! We brought our dogs and I can say they had as much fun as we did. We will be back!!

Best place to stay in St Marys

  • 5 of 5

My friend & I stayed at Oliver House Oct 18-23, 2017 for a girlfriends weekend. The home is very clean, nicely furnished with comfortable beds and furniture as well as the most fully stocked kitchen I have seen in any rental. We enjoyed sitting in the rockers on the front porch passing time reading or chatting with a wonderful breeze blowing. Ashley was very responsive to any questions we had although we did not incur any issues that needed to be addressed. Another positive is the neighbors are all very friendly so you never felt like you were not welcome there as a renter. Even though Cumberland Island was still closed due to the hurricane, we found plenty to do nearby. We will be back again when Cumberland reopens. The fenced in yard in the back is nice to have and next time I might bring my lab along. Recommend this home!

Relaxing getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This house is awesome. St. Mary's is a small town with lots of charm. There was unfortunately a lot of damage from the hurricane, so Cumberland Island was closed to visitors. We still had a great time, exploring the nearby towns and hanging out at the house. Ashley, the owner, is fantastic. She always responded right away and made everything easy. The house is one of the best I've ever stayed at. Everything you could need is provided. There are extra towels and blankets and tons of character in the house. It is beautifully decorated with whimsical decor which complements the 101 year old home perfectly. There are comfy beds, a fully stocked kitchen, a Jacuzzi tub and an amazing shower. We will definitely be coming back to this house again. Thank you again Ashley!

Fantastic Home!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the Oliver House. I do believe this is the best home we've had the pleasure to stay at. Also, it is close to everything we wanted but still very private. Will definitely stay again when we're back in the area. Plus, our pups loved the fenced backyard & all it had to explore for them.

I grew up in this small fishing hole town and always had a blast without anything but my ole beach cruiser. You can take a ride around town, go either way out of the driveway and your sure to end up at a boat ramp just in time for a lil fishing or shrimping. If that doesn't float your boat you can always jump on Langs Ferry and pop over to Cumberland Island for the day. Make all of your phone calls before you arrive on the island because you probably won't get the greatest service. It is truly like stepping back in time over there. You won't find any paved roads but you will find ruins of mansions, intact mansions, wild horses, turkey, hogs and deer (keep a special eye out for the white deer) to name a few. As your walking down the sanded paths be sure to pay attention to what is under your feet, could be sharks teeth? If your looking to get off off the oak tree shaded paths and have some fun in the sun, then take a path out to the beach where you will have 18 miles of one of the quietest beaches I have ever been to. Don't be shocked if you see wild stallions running up and down the beach just appreciate their beauty. The beach is great for shelling , as the seasons change so will the shells that wash up on the shore line. October and November and normally great months to get a few extra bucks, sand dollars is the island currency according to me. When you get back to the house on the mainland, give a hello to Charlie or Larry who live across the street;) Charlie will always know whats going on around town.. and tell him I said 'Hey Charlie, I miss you and see ya soon!!
