From the front door you can see through to the backyard which has unobstructed (no overhead wires) breathtaking views of Mt. San Jacinto. Fully tiled 1670 sq. ft. home eclectically decorated with sleek modern furniture and antique accessories from Europe, Indonesia, and Asia. A 52' flat screen TV in the spacious, sunny living room makes for a perfect movie night. Top of the line gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite counters, and view of the rear garden and blue tiled classic 50s kidney shaped pool. Main bedroom has a large desk for computer work,WiFi, plus TV and video components. Adjoining bath has a rain shower and floor length glass sliders to step directly out into the beautiful private sun lit garden. A delight to shower with the mountains at your back. Bath has added feature of a huge walk in closet/dressing room with skylight, to comfortably house all your belongings. Equally spacious second bedroom has own access to the garden and large spa set in a covered gazebo. We just renovated the second bath, which is now sleek, modern, and very sunny. The totally private walled garden sports a tropical feel, with vine, rose and jasmine covered walls which fill the night air with fragrance. The property has 18 large palm trees, a stand of timber bamboo, and many large urns filled with succulents and flowers that surround the midnight blue tiled pool. A separate structure with laundry, and a large stainless grill completes the picture of a desert escape with all the amenities.

About David Madison

I moved to the Southern California desert directly from Manhattan, New York City, where I resided for 28 years.

I've owned a floral and event production company for 37 years, bringing it to Palm Springs in late 1999. My instant love of the desert compelled me to create my own oasis in the heart of the historic Movie Colony. I've spent the last 13 years acquiring and cultivating exotic flora to complete the illusion, and brought to this property all the antique treasures I've found in my travels. The overall effect is that of a comfortable, elegant home, that certainly doesn't look like a hotel.

Location, location, location everyone says. This place has charm, privacy, comfort and drop dead mountain views, just minutes from the heart of Palm Springs life. Stay home by the pool, or walk your dog one block away at dog-friendly Ruth Hardy Park which includes public tennis courts and loads of grass and paved walkways. Just a couple of blocks away is the famous Movie Colony where you can walk or drive among some of the most beautiful streets and estates in town.

Palm Springs is all about outdoor living and the large garden with pool, spa, grill, chaises dining table, and landscape lighting will let you enjoy the sun or stars with equal ease. Backyard is VERY private!!

Best Ever

David is a great owner and fun to visit with. His place is impeccable and beautiful. His house is decorated with a lot of art and objects that are fascinating. I was there a week and was amazed every day. We were able to use the kitchen to feed 12 people over Thanksgiving and David had everything we needed to accomplish it. I used the hot tub and the pool several times and enjoyed a cup of coffee and a newspaper as I sat at the table by the pool each morning we were there. I can`t say enough about what a great visit is was. Just don`t plan on trying to get it for Thanksgiving next year, we`re going back.

The perfect oasis

Clean, convenient and super well laid out. This place had everything we needed. David was extremely accommodating, offered us guidance for dinner choices and even a doggie daycare. The pool and back yard are very private. It was walking distance to everything and in a great area.

Heaven on Earth meets Shangri-La

David has created an oasis in the desert with an interior likened to a fine art gallery and an exterior that is beautifully expressive...views of the mountains in the background with a foreground lush with plants, palm trees, a tiled pool all in a very private setting. We will be back!

Great location and host!

Rented this lovely home for a week long golf getaway with my girlfriend (April 8th - 15th). It was very nice, well priced and in a great location. David was an excellent host. Just a few things that I feel should be mentioned so you are well informed about your rental.

Pros:

- David was fantastic at getting back to me regarding questions and concerns we had. He was prompt and met us at the house when we arrived and went over everything which was great. No issue was too much for him to address and it was a pleasure dealing with him.

- Kitchen was very nicely stocked, newer and worked well for us for cooking some of our meals.

- Location (movie colony area) was a perfect 5-7 minute walk to downtown and 6 mins from the airport.Pool and backyard were very nice and well kept and attracted many hummingbirds!

- Master bedroom was very nice, bathroom and walk-in closet were nicely appointed; i wish both rooms were like this!

Cons/things to consider:

- Street was surprisingly noisy at night time due to cars driving fast etc and you could hear the plans flying overhead; - I used my white noise machine and I could still hear them;

- Bedroom doors (both) are french doors which are not covered so if privacy is an issue forget about it; not a real big issue for us because we were two ladies but my husband wouldn't have liked it if we were sharing the house with another couple;

- Second bedroom mattress was old and very uncomfortable compared to the main master bedroom which had a memory foam mattress; recommend replacing

- Second bathroom is outdated; old faucet, sink and counter top, shower was extremely small so I used the one in the master bedroom for the entire week; toilet is very tight next to the shower stall so difficult to reach for toilet paper;

- The house has an abundance of windows which is great - except for the two very long horizontal narrow ones at ceiling height in both bedrooms which face due east; in the morning it was blinding and we covered them up with cardboard for the week so we could sleep - highly recommend blinds for these windows because of where the sunlight hits the pillows in the morning.

Overall, a very nice experience, a great host and a fantastic location in PS.

I hope to return to PS in the near future for another golf getaway!

Car: recommended

Just minutes from the historic Riviera Hotel and Spa,The Palm Springs Tramway, (where you can see the mountains from a different perspective), the Palm Springs Convention Center, The Aqua Caliente Casino and Spa, North Palm Canyon Drive with great shopping, antiquing, restaurants, and art galleries, but nestled in a quiet area perfect to take advantage of all the activities, or just get away from it all in a secluded, totally walled private oasis.
