Hensley Hollow Lodge is an authentic 8 bedroom log home, built on 21 acres of secluded mountainside land that border the Shenandoah National Forest. This beautiful property is conveniently located 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Elkton VA, and the South Shenandoah River and 20 miles from Massanutten Ski Resort and 4 Season Indoor Water Park, and 25 miles from Luray Caverns. This incredible log lodge is nestled along the slope of a mountain, overlooking Hensley Hollow and the Blue Ridge Parkway with incredible unobstructed views. Enjoy the rustic natural solitude & park-like environment. The property also includes a one bedroom owner’s or guest cottage, an 1800 sq. ft. barn and 3 new out buildings.
This 4921 sq. ft. lodge has 4 bathrooms and 8 locked bedrooms and can sleep 24 in beds. Additional sleeping arrangements may be possible for a few other guests with prior approval. There are 2 master suite bedrooms with private bathrooms, semi-private patios and jetted Jacuzzi tubs & showers. The lodge has 900 sq. ft. of decks & patios, including a semi private patio for each of 4 of the bedroom suites. The kitchen is exceptionally appointed and has counter eating space for 8 as well as an adjacent dining table for 11 and an additional dining table for 4 in the game room, 6 on patios and 18 on outside picnic tables.
Activities in the area include sightseeing, hiking and camping along the Shenandoah Parkway and trail (10 minute drive), Snow tubing skiing, go cart racing, golf, swimming and horseback riding at the Massaunutten Four Season Ski Resort & indoor water park, wineries, antiquing, sightseeing (20 minute drive), tubing, kayaking, canoeing, picnicking, and fishing on the South Shenandoah River (10 minute drive). Explore the Luray Caverns (30 minute drive).
We furnish all linens, cleaning supplies, paper products, unlimited firewood, Propane gas, spice rack & some condiments as well as unlimited long distance service. Our beds are made with our linens prior to your arrival. Our maintenance and cleaning team are available if needed.
ENTERTAINMENT INCLUDED: This lodge includes (5) Direct TV receivers, 9 TVs (4 flat screen) with video & DVD players, 3000 video/DVDs library & stereo, PS2 & Nintendo w 50 games. The lodge has a 600 sq. ft. game room with gas stove, 1 arcade machine, 1 Large Air Hockey Table, 1 high quality Foosball Table (in the loft) and a very nice 8' slate bed pool table, several board games, an outdoor fire pit, and a dog kennel/house.

Hensley Hollow Lodge is a secluded 21 acre mountainside resort and is conveniently located 5 miles from Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway, which offers Virginia’s best hiking, camping and sightseeing. The Massanutten Four Seasons Ski Resort is only 20 miles away, and offers snow sports, inside pools, golf, spa with massage and a 100,000 sq. ft. inside Water Park. Massanutten River Adventures provides river trips, artificial wall rock climbing and tours to Washington, D.C. and local vineyards as well the Charleston Races and Casino. The Town of Elkton is 10 minutes away and also offers a large assortment of antique shopping, thrift shops and yard sales. The South Shenandoah River is 5 miles away and has free public boat ramps, restrooms, and picnic tables every few miles. It is excellent for picnicking, bass fishing, canoeing, tubing and kayaking. These picnic pavilions may be reserved through the town website. We provide river tubes, a 16 foot canoe, and kayaks. We have an outdoor fire pit with unlimited firewood.
Hensley Hollow Cemetery: The Hensley family cemetery (1790-1870) is located just at the bottom of our property. (The Hensley’s is the original settlers of the hollow. Benjamin Hensley Sr. and his family lived and died and were buried beside one another.)
Dining: The owners recommend Hank’s Smokehouse on Route 33 West for Cajun and El Paso on the town of Elkton for Mexican
Skiing / Snowboarding / tubing: You can be on the slopes in 20 minutes; 14 trails open till 10 p.m. Tubing is also great family fun, but has to be booked one day ahead. If your little ones have never skied before, consider the Slope-sliders program at Massanutten; you can sign up by phone the day before. They have a staff that caters to getting kids outfitted properly and coached in the basics. It covers most of the day, including lunch. They also have similar snowboard classes. Parents generally have a much better time, when their kids 10 are enrolled in Slope sliders.

Hiking: The lodge is 10 minutes from popular Skyline Drive and Appalachian Trail access points. You can actually see the lodge from the Hensley Hollow Overlook. There are a great number and variety of hiking trails just a few miles away.
Caverns: Luray Caverns, a 35 minute drive, is a U.S. Natural Landmark, the largest and most popular in the east.

Family River Activities / Canoes / Tubes / Fishing: The Shenandoah River has multiple public access points, several of which are right in Elkton. If you have two vehicles, it’s a nice “float” downriver to the 2nd access lot. There are local facilities to rent canoes & tubes as needed. The best local fishing spot seems to be accessible right from the Rt. 33 overpass bridge in Elkton (we see cars frequently parked there and have seen them fishing (and catching) bass, while we have floated downstream.
Antiques: There are several in downtown Elkton, and antique “malls” on both sides of Route 33 between Elkton and Harrisonburg (10 - 40 minutes). There are also signs along Route 33 for local flea markets.

The second half plus the refundable security deposit ($300 for 15 guests and below and $500 for over 15 guests) is due in 3 weeks prior to occupancy.
