About this property

Cozy Haven: A Lakeside Cottage Near Acadia

Cozy Haven is a new year-round private cottage built in 2020, situated among evergreens just 100 feet from the Toddy Pond shore with 242 feet of frontage. It’s just 7/10 of a mile off Rte. 1, heading to Bar Harbor. Enjoy cooking fresh Maine lobster and blueberry pie in a full kitchen, or grill in the open air on a gas grill. The living room is the perfect place to sit and relax after a day of adventure in Acadia or kayaking right on the pond, while you watch your favorite program on a 55" 4K flat screen TV while streaming Sling TV. Rest comfortably upstairs on a king-sized bed in the master bedroom or a double/twin bunk bed in the 2nd bedroom, or a queen-sized sofa bed in the family room. There is a full bath with shower located upstairs and a half bath downstairs. Listening to the loon calls and watching the sunset on the lake from the dock or the screened gazebo on the deck gives a sense of tranquility any time of day. Parking for 2 vehicles is available for each cottage.

Guests for our 3Havens all share private access to the dock and swim platform. We recommend that guests use water shoes while wading in the lake. Each unit has its own fire pit area and free use of 2 kayaks and a canoe (a waiver of liability must be signed for usage). We provide approved life-preservers in the bin by the kayaks. Wood for the fire pits may be purchased at Hannaford Supermarket or various roadside stands. Prices run from $5-7 per bundle. The dock goes in the lake the 2-3rd week of May and is removed the 1st week of November.

We like to leave our guests to themselves but try to be available when needed. However, should you need us for anything, we live on the same property as the cottages. Our other 2 vacation rentals are: Toddy Haven, a brand new first floor apartment furnished with a full kitchen, 1 full bath, sleeping up to 5; and Rocky Haven, a home away from home with washer, dryer, and dishwasher, sleeping up to 8. You can find each of them on our website: www.3Havens.com.

No animals are allowed on our properties due to family members with severe asthma issues. No exceptions.

Cozy Haven is a perfect name!
There is so much to love about this place. So peaceful. So secure. In addition, it is clean, feels new, and is welcoming. Mark (owner) gave us a welcoming call on check-in to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction. We loved our stay and left feeling refreshed. : )

Tiny getaway on Toddy
The house overall is very clean and well kept with modern finishes and simple decor. Getting to and from town is relatively easy by car compared to other locations on Toddy. Access to the lake is relatively easy and not overly steep with a nice dock and swimming platform! However, parking is very tight on a steep hill and the location is difficult to navigate if any party members have mobility difficulties. We had expected a little more space from the photographs but what you see is what you get. Window units did well to cool off the upstairs rooms, but guests downstairs were a little warm on a few days. Be sure to read the contract well prior to booking as the hosts do have a few additional requirements compared to other rentals we have stayed in. Overall I do recommend this host and location and we did greatly enjoy our stay.

Share with Neighbors; Close to Acadia
The cottage was nice. Very thankful we didn’t meet another vehicle on the road to get there. It was very narrow. Once there, everything in the cottage was great. I didn’t realize how close the neighbors would be, but it worked out fine. Loved that it was easy to get to Acadia for a day trip.

About the host

Host profile image
Mark is an entrepreneur, professor, minister, husband, and proud father. After living overseas for 14 years in Ecuador, we returned to our home state of Maine. Mark likes to sail, fish, play racket ball and is on a billiards team. Laurie is a musician, writer, wife and devoted mother. She likes to read, hike, garden and cook. We enjoy going out to new restaurants, sight seeing, traveling, going to movies and concerts together. Our favorite destinations to date have been Mexico and Italy, and we look forward to visiting the British Isles one day. We have been married for almost 40 years and have 4 children who have all flown the coop but come around every so often with our six grandchildren; all to our great delight!

Why they chose this property

Though situated just 7/10s of a mile off Route 1, it is such a peaceful and secluded spot here. The lake is deep and clean and the fishing is great. Nearly every evening and morning, loons can be heard gently calling across the water.

What makes this property unique

Though secluded, it is really close to so many of the sights people from all over the world come to visit.
