A perfect place to rest and feel at home, a place to yourself with access to the many attractions of the Niagara Region. Just up from the shore of Lake Erie the cottage is a quaint 2 bedroom - fully furnished with all that you need to be at home away from home . an open deck, a gas barbecue, open living dining room, outdoor tub and indoor bathroom with large shower - after you are up on the deck (three steps) it is all on one level for relative accessibility
We would love to have you stay at our cottage. As an artist i am often away from my lovely cottage and would love to share it with others. A great location, a simple comfortable space - great for summer but I also love it in the winter --- many artists, writers and visitors have graced the space with good vibes
Gerry Trentham purchased this cottage in 1998
The niagara region is rich with places to explore. This property slides into the landscape simply and gently. There are so many wonderful attractions within a short drive and the beach is walking distance.
Whether you’re planning to follow in Hemingway’s footsteps and need a bolt-hole in which to write the next Great American Novel or whether you just want to take the kids to the beach, Ridgeway Cottage is the ideal all-season getaway; surrounded by mature trees and close to the empty, sandy beaches of Lake Erie.
Ridgeway Cottage is a 1940?s worker’s shack that, over the years, has become part of the landscape it inhabits. Two cozy bedrooms, an airy, light filled kitchen and a large living and dining room will comfortably accomodate four adults. A futon-sofa in the living room extends into another double bed.
The kitchen is fully equipped with pots and pans, a stove, a large fridge and even a washer and dryer. For cool evenings, or in the colder seasons, there’s a cast iron gas stove for heat and comfort. An outdoor bathtub is ready to cool you down on long, hot summer days.
The cottage, on the Canadian side of the boarder, is only fifteen minutes away from the Peace Bridge and Buffalo, N.Y. Niagara wine county, the Shaw Festival, Niagara on the Lake, and Niagara Falls are less than a half hour’s drive away.
The Trans Canada Bike Trail runs by 500 yards from the cottage, allowing you to ride all the way to Niagara Falls and beyond.
my wife and i stayed at gerry's beautiful cottage in ft. erie the week of july 14th to the 21st and never had a better time. the place was clean and comfortable with so many things to do and places to visit we never got to them all. best of all was gerry's attentive concern for making sure everything was perfect. we'll be back. eleven stars out of ten!
bob --- Thanks Bob you were a joy to have stay !!!
Wonderful cottage close to activities but with a quiet atmosphere. Gerry was great and made sure we were taken care of the while time!
Bright, warm wide open spaces with wall to wall windows streaming in intoxicating, rejuvenating sunlight. Inviting, hypnotic gas stove with two very comfy rocking, swirling, shabby chic chairs for intimate conversations or just chilling out with a glass of your fav wine. A bright tranquil, inspiring space for writing, blogging, and/or creating that Picasso water-colour piece that's been on your back burner for like, (sigh) ... forever. The vibe reminds me of the old Brown Derby in LA back in the day. Not sure why, but it does! The illuminated by night mini twinkle light magical rain stone shower will revive and energize you! And that "crazy comfortable" fluffy bed in red will make you not want to get up! Yes, you guessed it ... a retreat for artisans and nature lovers alike needing to escape the daily grind. The wall to wall windows in the kitchen create an inspirational feng shui space for artisan gourmet foodies and bird watchers alike. Coffee bean grinder, coffee makers, a full fridge and a washer/dryer. It's all here. You need not bring anything except your suitcase and binoculars (a plethora of beautiful birds and squirrels abound and await you).
Location is everything! A short walk to the beach on Lake Erie, the Friendship Trail which takes you into town where you can pick up produce at the Farmer's Market in Ridgeway on Saturdays, dine at the Flying Squirrel, take in live entertainment at the Brimstone Brewing Company, the local microbrewery or pick up your favorite brews at the Beer Store. If you don't have a car Dominion Road is just a short walk and few blocks away where you can flag down a local accessible bus ($2.50 CAD) which will take you to major shopping locations. Catch the Mega Bus to the US at RoboMart. For $12 CAD Speedy Taxi will take you to the Peace Bridge where you can walk across the bridge to NY. Then you can take the Amtrak or a plane at BUF airport to NYC.
A bird lover's paradise -- cardinals, bluejays, chickadees, squirrels and more in an enchanted forest with mature towering trees everywhere! Relax outdoors in the functional old fashioned bathtub, BBQ, or build a bonfire and toast some Dandies Vegan Marshmallows. If you are looking to get away from it all and chill in a magical, peaceful setting this is it! It's all here just waiting for you. BTW, ... Gerry the owner is superfantastic! Thanks for everything Gerry! I had an amazing stay! Schmoozequeen (Instagram)
This cottage was perfect for our girls get away weekend! It was minutes from both Thunder Bay & Crystal Beach. It was homey, yet spacious & the spa shower was out of this world. All in all, we had an amazing time & will definitely rent again next year!
We had an amazing five days at this cottage. It was a quick drive to Crystal Beach, as well as to Niagara Falls. Loved the true cottage feel of the place with a beautiful modern spa shower thrown into the mix. My kids fully enjoyed the outdoor functioning bathtub at the end of their day. A truly relaxing stay.
We had an amazing stay at gerrys cottage. The place was a home away from home! Gerry was really helpful when we had to change our dates and very easy to work with. The place was just far enough away from all the business so it was a peaceful vacation area. Not too far away that you couldn't drive to the tourist places though. If we're ever in the area again we will probably look Gerry up first!
Delightful, warm, cozy, comfortable, relaxing, like home. I can't find enough wonderful adjectives to describe this house. We have never traveled to this part of the the US/Canada but could not have selected a better place to stay. The house was so close to so many things we wanted to see but far enough away that we didn't feel like we were fighting with all of the tourist. Coming back after a long day of playing we sat in front of the stove having a drink and relaxing. The ability to cook saved us quite a bit of money that we were able to use for other things. This is not a fancy house if you are looking for the Ritz. If you want a home away from home that you can enjoy you need look no further.
The cottage is only blocks up from the shore of Lake Erie and minutes from public beaches, and less than 30 minutes away from Niagara falls, the Shaw festival, Niagara wineries, Buffalo NY, Outlet shopping, and a number of world class golf courses - renting this cottage would be an ideal way to save accommodation money and still have access to the entire Canada/US Niagara region
