Enjoy the all-season comfort and convenience of this 1300 sq.ft. split-level house that's just a 5-minute walk from town. Situated in one of the friendliest neighborhoods of Camden, it features a spacious back deck and a yard with plenty of room for badminton, croquet, whiffleball, or a cookout. Enjoy the incredible beauty of this part of the Maine coast, much of it within walking or biking distance. Stroll to town for groceries, great coffee and bagels, a show at the Camden Opera House, a trip to the Library, or an evening walk around the Harbor. Bring or rent bikes and head out on the bike path to lovely Rockport Harbor or picturesque Beauchamp Point. In the winter, take a short drive to the nearby Snow Bowl or cross-country ski on the extensive network of local trails. The roomy entryway of this furnished home features a washer and dryer and shelves for storage. You'll go down a short flight of stairs to the three bedrooms and renovated full bath. Two of the bedrooms have full-size beds and one a twin. Each room has a closet and a dresser or shelves for clothes, and one of the bedrooms has a desk. Upstairs is the kitchen and one large sunny open room, divided into sitting/TV, dining, and living room areas. There is also a desk and an upright piano. Out the back patio door is the deck, complete with chairs, a bench and comfy mattress, shaded by an awning in the summer. There are plenty of books and games handy for vacation reading and fun. High-speed internet, Roku, and local access phone are also included. The house is small enough to stay easily warm in the winter and airy enough to be cool in the summer. A clothesline and large drying rack are available to help conserve electricity. Use this comfortable house as a launching pad for your Midcoast adventures, or just tuck in for a quiet stretch of rejuvenation. There is a one-room addition off the east side of the house for the owners' occasional use, but renters have complete privacy in the main house.

About Cindy Kallet

I am a traveling musician and teacher, and lived on the coast of Maine for 18 years. I now spend most of the year in the Midwest but return to Maine whenever I can. I am very happy to be able to share this home with travelers who appreciate having a taste of quiet and friendly coastal town living.

Cindy Kallet purchased this house in 2004

Why Cindy Kallet chose Camden

I loved this house and neighborhood the as soon as I saw it. We have wonderful neighbors and are just minutes from one of the most beautiful harbors and network of hiking trails anywhere. The back yard is perfect for games of badminton, wiiffleball and croquet. Being able to walk and bike to town means a lot to me, and I needed room for my family to spread out as well. It has been the perfect combination of space and energy-efficiency.

What makes this house unique

With a cathedral ceiling and a view out the double patio door to the elevated deck and back yard, there's a lovely feeling of light and space in the upstairs of this house, with its hardwood floor and open-plan layout. The downstairs has three carpeted cozy bedrooms, where one can tuck in for some privacy and quiet time.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This sweet house was enjoyed by us as a launching spot for hiking, museums, and exploring mid coast. The house has plenty of space to spread out and relax in between outings. The great neighborhood, quiet and friendly, is an easy stroll town and to the town beach off Bayview. We will be back.

Although there is no air conditioning unit, we run a dehumidifier in the downstairs hallway, outside the bedrooms, that keeps the bedrooms cool and dry during the summer. The upstairs is generally very comfortable due to cross-ventilation and the proximity to the harbor. Fans are also provided. Please note that we are doing some redecorating, and some of the room colors and furniture/decor may vary from those shown. We'll get updated photos here as soon as possible. It will still be clean, comfortable and bright!

Lovely House and Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Cindy's house and it is in a great location for walking in to the town and being able to do easy day trips (with a car) to other lovely spots in and around the coast. We thought this particular part of Maine is absolutely beautiful and have no hesitation in recommending it to others; it has plenty to offer which was important to us a we have two teenage girls and we managed to find things that we all wanted to do!

Not our cup of tea.

Cute neighborhood close to everything, but not our cup of tea.

Owner's Response: Barbara and I had communicated on two occasions during their stay, by phone and e-mail, and she reported that "everything is great at the house . . . all is fine." I was therefore taken aback at the two-star review and contacted her in order to find out more specifically what she and her husband meant by "not our cup of tea." She explained that she felt displeased with the fact that the house was "an older house" with some signs of wear; in addition, she strongly resented two of the reminder signs, one requesting that the bathroom fan be used during showers and the other encouraging use of cold water for washing, and the clothesline as an alternative to the dryer. I felt that she had an expectation that my house should be more like a hotel, without any requests or suggestions for guests. On the contrary, people who rent through VRBO are sharing their home with many people, and there are some necessary guidelines in order to keep the house in good shape and keep rental rates as low as possible for visitors. I pride myself on offering a home that is clean and well-cared for, and I am sorry that Barbara and Bill did not feel that the house lived up to their expectations.

Excellent stay

  • 5 of 5

We recently returned home after a two week vacation throughout the northeast during which we stayed at this wonderful property. Check-in was a breeze, and Cindy and the property manager were always available to answer any questions we had along the way. The property is in a great location and it is only a short walk into town. I would recommend this rental to anyone and I hope that we'll be back there in the years to come.

Wonderful Stay, incredible weather

  • 5 of 5

We came into town to visit family and really enjoyed staying at the house. It worked well for our group (5 adults), the beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was perfect for cooking full meals and the location can't be beat. We walked into Camden daily, as well over to Quarry Hill to visit a relative. The house is very clean and the common living space well furnished, with a living/dinning area full of light
