About Melissa Smith

Our family of four lives in Grand Rapids and we escape to Leelanau County every chance we get! We love walking the beaches with our Golden Retriever, hiking and geocaching throughout the county, waterskiing and tubing on pristine Lake Leelanau, and exploring new restaurants and wineries!

Melissa Smith purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Melissa Smith chose Leland

The Bluestone Cottage gives us a chance to be just one block from the most hidden and desirable beach in Leelanau and just a short walk along the lakefront back streets to Leland, the most charming town up north and one of 'America's Best 8 Lake Towns.'

What makes this cottage unique

We love the generous size of all the 4 bedrooms, the classic front porch, private back deck and 3-season screen porch for early mornings and we love being in-town Leland.

What a great place for a larger group!

  • 5 of 5

We went for a four day weekend in March for a "girls weekend" and it was the perfect place! The owner was very accommodating and kept in touch to make sure our stay was going well. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms. Perfect for our gathering of good friends, good times in a relaxing, comfy atmosphere. Everything we needed!. So close to the wineries, shopping... too cold to go to the beach, but this would be a perfect place in the summer because of it's proximity to Fishtown and the beach on Lake Michigan. Sure hope to make this a destination again! Thank you Melissa!

My family of 7 adults fit very comfortably in this home. We enjoyed our stay and the proximity to Leland and Suttons Bay where we spend the majority of the time. Would recommend!

Clean and accommodating

  • 3 of 5

This property was very clean and perfect for 10 people. It's close to the beach and just a few blocks from Fishtown. One drawback is that it is very close to the road and sits on a corner so there is not a lot of privacy. Also it could use a new coffee maker and toaster. Overall a nice, enjoyable stay!
