About Laura or Nancy
Two long time friends with one great idea: to welcome visitors to the magical beauty of Capital Reef Country with comfortable and affordable vacation rental homes. Nancy, a retired University of Utah research professor and Laura, a retired Montana State University educator, have renovated homes for use as vacation rentals in the historic town of Bicknell, UT. Nancy and Laura share passions for gardening, raising vegetables, cooking and preserving foods. We also love designing spaces and have exceptional skills as hostesses.
Laura or Nancy purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Laura or Nancy chose Bicknell
We love the magic of this area! There something about the red rock. If you like to hike, fish, scenic rides or just relax in the calm beauty, this is the place for you.
What makes this Cottage unique
We fell in love with the property that Little House sits on. It is quiet. Has easy access to Capital Reef and surrounding area that include: Boulder, Escalante, Bryce and Zion National Parks. Our community is friendly and helpful. Bicknell is the smallest town in America that has a working movie theater. The are movie festivals, music festivals and The Estrada Institute hosts many festivities.

We had a good stay. We don’t like to eat at restaurants much. The pans in the kitchen were better than I have at home. We had everything we needed to fix simple meals. It was peaceful and quiet. Really enjoyed the cabin.
Capitol Reef Visit
Little House was perfect for our quick sisters getaway. It's in a quiet location, conveniently located near Capitol Reef and Grand Staircase Escalante, with decent food options around. The property itself is a studio set up which was perfect for my sister and I, and her two kids. It was clean and stocked with everything we needed. Laura and Nancy made themselves available though we didn't really need to get in contact with them since they made sure we were taken care of with any lodging needs beforehand. I will definitely look to one of their properties on our next visit to Capitol Reef.
Escalante cottage - great stay for visiting Capitol Reef!
The cottage was very clean & organized. Check in was super easy with Laura. We loved that there was a grill & cook ware to make a few meals during our stay. There was a lot of thought put in to amenities to make your stay feel like a hotel or at home. The cottage was perfect size for two people. My only suggestion would be to add a curtain since the shades don’t really block out the sun which can be really bright in the AM if you’re still trying to sleep. Would stay here again if we ever come back!
Capitol Reef stay
The Little Cottage is a beautiful place. It is small, however, and the bunk bed configuration for our tall son was difficult for him. The bath is nice as is the kitchen, although the 2 burner stove gave out. Thank God for the microwave/convection oven!
The host, Laura, is very nice and very accommodating. She even offered us another kitchen to use in a separate home when the 2 burner stove died, 5 stars for Laura!
This was an outstanding stay! We loved the house in Bicknell.
This was a great place to stay for our time visiting Capitol Reef National Park . It was clean, updated decor, bed was comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. We loved sitting on the deck every morning drinking coffee and every evening after being gone all day having a glass of wine looking at the mountains. The owner was always was helpful and always available if we had a question. This was a great town too, quiet but yet had everything we needed. We never ate out because we wanted to come home and enjoy the night here. There is no TV, but it has good internet connection. If we are back in the area again, we would for sure stay here. They do a great job.
I could live here!
The house was beautiful and cozy. The hosts thought of everything anyone could need. I enjoyed my stay immensely.
There are fun ATV trails along the nearby Great Western Trail.
Plenty of mountain bike and hiking trails just out of town.
