House Highlights:

The parting comments of friends and guests that have stayed here are universally ones of happiness and sadness. Happy in remembering all the wonderful times shared sitting on the deck sharing a refreshment, playing catch on the lawn, long walks on the the empty beaches along the ocean, glorious days on the golf courses, BBQing steaks on the deck while watching the sunset, sharing delicious meals of local seafoods and produce on the breezeway, staring at the untold number of stars on a cloudless night and sleeping on a perfect summer night cooled by the ocean breezes...sad to pack up and leave this magical place behind.

If you are looking for an amazing house, in a perfect PEI bayside setting with ocean views, 5 mins from the beach and excellent restaurants, 15 minutes from the airport and all that Charlottetown has to offer, and 30 minutes to 6 amazing golf gourse, great restaurants, local galleries, tourist destination, etc. then please book now!

Note: This magnificient location is found in an exclusive setting and is governed by a Home Owners Association and a Covenant which perserves this pristine area. Due to the private nature of the neighbourhood and surrounding properties and to respect the peacefulness of 'Macmillan Point' we limit our stays to 6 adults per family group and 8 adults for an adults only vacation (e.g. golf trip or book club getaway).

Main House:

1st Floor: Large open concept main floor kitchen, dining and living areas, 4 1st floor bedrooms (2 bedrooms with 1 double bed, 2 bedrooms with 1 twin bed), plus one 4 piece bathroom.

2nd Floor: Large 2nd floor family room plus a 2 piece washroom, large 2nd floor master bedroom with 2 double beds and large 5 piece ensuite bathroom .

South Wing:

2nd Floor: 1 bedroom with queen bed, 1 bedroom with 2 twin beds plus a 4 piece washroom.

Breezeway: Very Large breezeway (screened on waterside and screened windows and door on the roadside allows for control over the breeze in this area). Has both a large sitting area and eating area…all teak furnishings.

Wraparound 1st and 2nd floor decks: Enjoy the amazing scenenry, wildlife and sunrises/sunsets.

Monitored Home Security System: Yes.

Telephone System: Wired and Wireless.

Internet: Wireless (everywhere) and Ethernet (3 outlets only).

TV and Cable/Satellite: 2 HD TVs, 2 HD Bell ExpressVu PVRs and 1 DVD player.

Stereo: Three iPhone compatible mini systems (1 Bose and 2 portable/rechargeable Logitechs). Stereo headphone (mini-jack) type patch cords are included to drive stereo mini systems with other devices.

Kitchen Facilities: All Appliances (stainless steel) including stove, oven, side by side refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, garberator, dishwasher, electric frying pan, waffle maker. An additional freezer and beer fridge are located in the basement.

Heating / Air Conditioning: Yes.

Washer / Dryer: Two of Both!

Central Vacuum: Yes.

Game Tables: Air Hockey Table, Foosball Table, and Xbox.

Fireplaces: 2, Wood burning, main floor living room and 2nd floor master bedroom. Not available for use.

BBQ: Large propane BBQ on the outside deck

Manual: A house manual is available upon request. Additionally a detailed things to do section is also included that outline points of interest (theaters, galleries, trails, beaches, great local dining as well as places to golf and fish).

Smoking: This is a non-smoking property.

Pets: No pets allowed.

Local Things to do:

Walks

A walk around MacMillan Point…just go down the stairs on the bayside deck and turn left…the hardier souls will go all the way around!! 30 minute walk.

A walk on Brackley Beach. Enter park on the Dunes Gallery side and pass the Brackley Beach Parking lot (for tourists!!!) and go about ½ mile until you see stairs over the sand dunes. Park here. Go over the stairs and turn right. Its 3 miles round trip to walk to the bridge which you see from the deck of the summerhouse. Normally you encounter 3-4 people on the walk. Solitude!!!

The Trail at Greenwich Dunes near St. Peters Bay (about 30 minutes). A great trail that takes about 45 minutes out to a beautiful beach on the ocean. A great place to pack a lunch and spend the afternoon on a warm sunny beach. The trails takes you some very picturesque wetlands. Bring your camera! Combine later with dinner at the Inn at St. Peters.

Deep Sea Fishing

Richards Deep Sea Fishing is a great way to get on the ocean and do a little fishing on a sunny afternoon or evening. They begin at the end of the local lobster season (end of June) and run through the summer and early fall. All fishing tackle is provided and you are encouraged to bring your own food and beverages (alcohol is allowed) as none are provided. It’s one of the best places to enjoy the ocean and the sunsets are amazing. I always go at least once a summer and always in the evening…reservations are required.

General things to do:

If you have the opportunity to see “Anne of Green Gables”, the theatre production, please do. It is a long running professional theatre production. Book tickets well ahead of your arrival on PEI.

Shopping:

Grocery shopping in Charlottetown: I recommend the new Sobeys on Buchanan Drive in North Charlottetown:

Dining:

All restaurants are basically casual dress…shorts can be worn in all if you feel like it.

Nearby (within 10 minutes)

The Lobster Claw: cheap and cheerful…its where the locals eat.

Richards: just across the bay…not fancy…great for lunch or quick supper on a sunny warm day…great seafood…portions are huge (recommend splitting a single order for 2 people). Also sell all types of uncooked seafood for takeaway.

The Dunes: incredible restaurant/gallery/gardens…moderately priced…reservation required…worth seeing even if you don’t eat there.

The Shaw Hotel: great place for dinner…more expensive…Sunday buffet is excellent.

Nearby (within 20 minutes…not in Charlottetown).

The Pearl: excellent food…more expensive…reservation required.

Delvay by the Sea: recently changed hands so quality is unknown…nice dining room…more expensive.

Glasgow Hills Golf Course: inexpensive…great view of the ocean on a sunny warm day.

In Charlottetown (15 minutes):

Lot 30: One of the best restaurants on PEI…more expensive…need reservation.

Simms Corner: Great steakhouse and oysters…try the Lucky Limes oysters (incredible)…reservation required.

Merchant Man Pub: excellent medium priced pub fare food.

Outside of Charlottetown (30 minutes):

Inn at St. Peters: more expensive, lovely dining room, excellent food, beautiful view over the bay…reservation required.

Golfing:

It is a major golf destination in Canada. The golf is truly amazing.

I recommend Glasgow Hills Golf Club (I am a member there, best golf club on PEI in terms of value and friendliness)! I also recommend The Links at Crow Bush, Dundarave and Brundenell River (found at the same site), Anne of Green Gables, and Eagles Glenn.

This rental is on a Friday to Friday basis. Check in time is on Friday after 7 pm. Check out time is the following Friday before 11 am. The check in and check out times are firm as this 8 hour period allows the cleaning staff to prepare the house for the next set of guests.

Note: Deposit of 75% of rental fee must be paid at the time of booking, the balance of the rental fee (25%) must be paid 3 months prior to arrival date plus a $1000 damage deposit cheque (damage deposit cheque will only be cashed if damage occurs, otherwise it will be returned). Refunds (full or partial) will be provided if you cancel AND I succeed in re-renting for the period.

Manager's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 7 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
