Hello! Thanks for your interest in our condo. It is located on the northern end of Seven Mile Beach in the beautiful, and highly-rated Discovery Point Club. The white coral sand is literally about six steps from the screened patio door, and the freshwater pool and hot tub are probably about ten more than that.
Staying in this corner, ground floor unit is highly convenient, both on the beach side and the parking side. No hauling your luggage, groceries, kiddos, and gear up and down the stairs. You can enter the unit from the beach when you forget camera, the kids want a drink, or nature calls. An outdoor shower and foot bath help to keep the sand at bay.
Renovated in 2013, the condo has comfortable rattan furniture, new mattresses, colorful artwork and is guest-friendly. Windows throughout showcase the lush greenery outside, and the blinds and curtains can be adjusted for light and privacy. A wall of mirrors visually expands the gorgeous views.
The kitchen is modern and well-lit. It has stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and is fully-stocked with cooking essentials. A carafe-style coffee pot, a heavy-duty blender and pop-up toaster make breakfasts and treats a breeze!
The bedrooms have lots of space with closets, dressers, and flat-screen TVs. The master bedroom has a new king-size bed (May 2015) a private bath and a personal safe for valuables. The second bedroom has two twin beds (May 2013) that convert seamlessly into a king bed when desired. Both bathrooms have tiled, walk-in showers and granite counters. There is a queen sofa bed in the living room for extra sleeping arrangements.
In the living room, there is another flat screen TV with a DVD player, and a Bose SoundLink Bluetooth stereo to stream your favorite tunes. Free wi-fi in the unit keeps you connected to friends and family back home.
This condo has a new washer and dryer inside the unit for your laundry convenience. There is also daily housekeeping service (except on holidays and Sundays) to help keep things tidy while you enjoy your vacation.
All linens and towels are provided, and fresh beach towels are always available outside of the office. There are gas grills and a scuba-gear rinsing station on site, and even tennis courts if you like to play. Hooks on the screened lanai can be used to hang wet towels or store snorkel/scuba equipment.
If you need anything at all to make your stay more comfortable, the Discovery Point Club staff and managers will go out of their way to try to make it happen. They are friendly and an excellent resource for local attractions and advice.
Discovery Point Club #1 is located at the northern end of Seven Mile Beach. It is nestled in the best of both worlds- close enough to enjoy the tourist action of the big SMB resorts, but removed enough that you can forget about it, too.
Several wonderful restaurants near our condo serve everything from tasty local fare to fine dining, and a grocery store about a half mile away carries the items and brands you're familiar with from home, as well as fresh produce and a hot deli. (Be sure to try the 'coconut drops' made by local church groups as fundraising items. They usually sell them somewhere in the deli section, near the breads. Yum!)
For water lovers, our condo is situated in the middle of some of the best snorkeling on SMB. Directly out front we have seen everything from puffer fish and sea turtles to parrotfish and barracuda- and even an octopus in the evening! A short walk or swim north is Cemetery Beach, another snorkeling hot-spot. The large shade trees there are perfect for relaxing in the ocean breeze.
For scuba divers, some of the best shore-diving spots on the island are just a few minutes drive north. The dive shops and restaurants there rent tanks, equipment, etc., and are a fun place to relax after the dive. For boat dives and other excursions, many of the dive companies on Grand Cayman will pick you up at the condo when you book with them. I can honestly say that we've never had a bad experience with any of the operators we've used!
For non-water activities, one of our very favorite places is the Botanical Gardens. It is just a beautiful, quiet place to go. Lots of birds, shaded trails and benches to rest on. It's not a thrill-ride, but it's great- especially for kids to be outdoors. Our boys loved running along the paths and spotting blue iguanas in bushes.
