2 Bedroom, 1 bath Yacht / Boat with living room / kitchen and flybridge
About Dara Liberatore
I has always had a love of the water and boating. Although I did not grow up on the water, and did not come from a family of boaters, I have been drawn to water sports - swimming, scuba diving, boating - both sailing and motor. Prior to having my own yacht, I did a lot of chartering, and often found the charter experiences to be disappointing - usually because the boat was not in great condition. After spending over a year in Charleston working with a client, the idea of having a yacht and having it in Charleston, as well as filling a need in the market for high end yacht charters all came together. So, I started Atlanta Yacht Charters in December 2012, with my first yacht - La Nina. I recently renamed AYC to Low Country Yacht Charters, to better convey the focus and value proposition that this business offers, especially as I start looking to expand. Outside of boating, my core professional focus is strategy and operations management consulting. After graduating from Georgetown University, I spent several years on Active Duty with the Army, both in the Middle East and Germany. After coming back from Germany, I started my consulting career, taking a two year pause to get my MBA from Duke and then going to work with Accenture. I currently work with Alvarez and Marsal, helping companies improve their performance, across multiple industries and functional areas, with a focus on strategy, supply chain, manufacturing, profitability improvement and M&A.I welcome you aboard my yacht - La Nina - and hope you have a wonderful experience!

My Great Vacation On Board
The boat was everything I expected and more from reading the reviews. It was big enough for me and had everything on board that I needed. The master bedroom and bed were Hugh and the bed was super comfortable, especially when there was a good breeze and it was raining just enough to hear it, the boat swayed just so little as to rock me to sleep. Dara had every convenience I could want. enough towels, blankets, dishes etc..... And the boat had a wonderful upper deck to sit on with a canopy to keep it cool and a great breeze. I loved sitting up there and watching the people. lol The bathroom was small as they said in description, but big enough to wash up and do make up. I choose to use the bathhouse to take my showers. it was clean and they were private.
I know you waited a long time to get to CHS for this trip. I am so glad it all worked out and you truly enjoyed your stay aboard and your time in CHS. Hope to have you back in the near future!
One mans loss, is another's gain...go me!
I was thrilled when Dara called me to let me know that her reservation had checked out a day early. I had requested a Charter earlier that week as I was in town for the boat show. Not only did I get the charter, I also stayed for the night...win-win! This was a fabulous little yacht to stay on - it is cozy, yet big enough to spread out your belongings. The bonus was that it was downtown and convenient to everything, including the show.
I do understand that the guests left as they had an issue with the Yacht; but knowing boats as I do, I had NO issue! In fact, I booked another charter next week too. Loved hanging out with Captain Chad! Can't wait to do it again.
Oh Brigida...I’m thrilled it worked out for you too. We truly look forward to a long relationship with you and your potential clients!
Don't be polite
We have rented boats, homes and apartments before, in fact in other countries. So we are not new to this. And there have been things to complain about, but we have always chosen not to do so. But this time, we made a mistake. When we walked into the boat cabin, while on the phone with Dara, we didn't say what immediately struck us because we were being polite. There was a foul odor, we thought we could air it out on our own, and we tried. We texted Dara about the smell an hour+ after checking in, but my bad, I input one wrong number, so she didn't get it until the next day (she has since seen a screen shot of it and the time it was sent, but has not acknowledged it). So our advice, if you do rent La Nina, don't be polite, mention the odor immediately. We checked out the following morning after an unbearable night of this foul odor. And, no we are not especially sensitive - we've stayed weeks on boats. We were not reimbursed because, according to Dara and her crew, there wasn't an odor the following day. But, as you can see from the review "One mans loss...Go me!" our second night was rented, so actually Dara gains-Double Rent. And according to the review, she knew she had a potential renter in the wings so she modified our reservation dates. The biggest disappointment was that she didn't believe us! We rented a boat because we wanted to stay on a boat, but we couldn't risk another night of this unbearable odor. Obviously, it was an abrupt inconvenience for us to search for other accommodations, at the last minute, at an increased cost.
Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback, Rick. We appreciate every review, good or bad. I think your review will be helpful in advising future guests to read the Agreement carefully, as well as to take what we tell you at check-in very seriously. We always advise each guest to communicate with us at any time, so I am sorry that there was a miscommunication with the text you tried to send out (even though you had my number from earlier texts and calls). We do take our guest accommodations seriously and would have done so in this matter as well – as we did the next morning. Sadly, you did not stay for us to come out and handle things for you, so you could enjoy the rest of your stay...
At this time we do not feel as though we need to address this any longer. You did file a complaint with VRBO in regards to the property and the issues you had, and we responded accordingly. They have closed this complaint as they saw we properly addressed all matters.
Lots of fun to stay somewhere completely different!
La Niña is cozy, comfy, clean and well appointed. Away from the city center but close enough to get there on foot or by Holy Spokes city bikes conveniently located at the marina. The marina restaurant serves great food. Watching sun rise and set from La Niña was a real treat. Thanks Dara and Adrian
Oh Brenda...I am so very happy you got to stop in CHS for a few days and stay with us! You hit the jackpot with the weather too. I hope the rest of you journey is just a fabulous. Safe travels! We will see you in Canada soon enough...
Perfect Charleston weekend
La Niña was awesome and Dara was very helpfull and accommodating. City Marina were the boat is moored is clean, safe and well lit at night. The bathrooms and showers were clean, and it was nice not being right in downtown. We got to know a few neighbors while we were there and everyone was friendly and helpful, you could really tell how much everyone we met took pride in being Charelstinians. We will definitely be staying here for our next trip back.
Hey Jeremiah! I am so happy you enjoyed your stay aboard LaNina...I am so sorry I haven't followed up with you yet, but you know we had a busy weekend;) I hope you truly enjoyed your time in CHS. We look forward to hosting you again.
PS thanks for changing the HVAC from C to F...you're awesome!
Not just another hotel room
Staying on La Nina was a unique way for us to spend the weekend in Charleston. It was very comfortable for our girls get away. We each had our own bedroom and the living room area gave us a place to sit and play cards without one of us having to sit on the bed. It was chilly to take advantage of outdoor seating in the mornings and evenings, but we did have happy hour overlooking the marina one night.
Although we were not right in the historic district, we Ubered everywhere- and even had Uber deliver breakfast one morning and birthday cake one night. Getting to wherever we wanted to go was never a problem.
The kitchen was well equipped- we just didn't want to cook. There were plenty of pillows, blankets, and towels.
Keep in mind you are on a boat- not a cruise ship. The shower is actually the whole bathroom-you just close a curtain to protect the sink. The living/ kitchen area is small but comfortable. Keeping these expectations in mind- you will find that the marina is a nice home base and staying on a boat gives you a totally different sense of the community.
Thank you, Laurie! I am so glad you had a fabulous ladies weekend with your sweet daughter. It really sounds like you took full advantage of the boat and our wonderful city. We sure do hope to see you aboard again soon - now that you're an expert on a boat;)
Conde Nast has voted Charleston the US # 1 City four years in a row and the world's top tourism town in 2012 - incredible architecture and history, outstanding restaurants, and beautiful harbor and ocean.
Accommodations on the water with a view of downtown and the Harbor.
The City Marina is less than a mile from the center of the downtown area. The marina provides an hourly shuttle during business hours that loops around all of downtown's shops and restaurants.
