This house was originally purchased for family to enjoy a cooler winter filled with hot cocoa, grandma's meatball soup and skiing children who come home to sled and make snowmen in the backyard. We would like to share our place with you to allow you and your family to make memories like we have.
Linda Caruso purchased this house in 1999
We love the White Mountains and have taught our kids to ski on these slopes, so we have a lot of memories here in Conway/Jackson, NH. Sled out the back yard, ski close by, enjoy the ledge. If you appreciate the mountains, you will LOVE these views.
The view is spectacular year round.
Just reflecting on my time at the Owls Nest and I could not have been happier. The deck furniture gave us lots of extra area and the breezes were incredible. The home was spotless with lots of room for relaxing, talking, sharing stories and games. Great access to StoryLand without any of the 'town' traffic. We will be back soon!
This was a lovely property and well tended. It was very clean and there was plenty of room for a gathering of friends! It is only minutes away from Storyland and the views from the living room are exceptional.
Our time at the Owls Nest was really beautiful and the house was fantastic. The views and the colors of the trees helped everyone relax and enjoy the many rooms and amenities. Can't wait to make this an annual trip
Great location for Mt Washington bike race and other attractions such as Jackson Falls, shops in N. Conway, not a bad drive to Flume Gorge. Comfortable house for our family. Well equiped kitchen. Comfortable beds. Good showers. Beautiful mountain view from large windows. Cons: several light bulbs burned out, a couple of non-functioning lamps. Found the extra fans (badly needed) as we were packing to leave. Still, those were minor glitches. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Owl's Nest and loved everything about New Hampshire.
Fantastic place! Best rental ever! Willing to rent again if possible. We are traveling with parents and friends. 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms are perfect for us. Rooms are well organized, all bath towels and kitchenware as well as cleanser are provided, also surprisingly toys for little ones and board games are ready for adults. The only two problems are 1) the location is a little bit trick to find, so it will help if an exact GPS location can be given. 2) the sheets are clean but quilts and pillows have "used" smells, which seem fine to others in our group, but only i have a sensible nose though. Overall we all love the place.
Perfect place for skiing, shopping, snowboarding, and just relaxing with a beautiful view of the mountains.
Just finished a four night stay from July 13 until July 17 with six adults and six children. House is perfectly located for Storyland being less than 5 minutes away and convenient for Santa's Village at less than an hour. Enjoyed good take out for dinner from the Red Fox and Red Parka restaurants nearby. House was plenty big and well kept though the onsite sleeping arrangements best serve 11. We brought an air mattress for a child to use in the basement in the room with the bunk beds. Plenty of room to fit it in there or in room with the two twin beds on second floor. House has beautiful screened in porch that was nice during the evenings. Property owner was very responsive to communications.
We experienced two issues that we knew of prior to the stay that certainly affected our enjoyment. House does not have air conditioning and while there are a number of floor and table top fans on site, it was uncomfortably warm in the two second floor bedrooms and bath. Second issue was having to dispose of trash ourselves. Being in the area for the purpose of the parks did not have us near the transfer station when it opened or prior to closing nor was it opened when we left on the last day. Hours are 12-6. This forced use to travel home with 4 days worth of trash and recycling which was not pleasant. Considering that check out time is well before the transfer station opens, I would suggest that guest be allowed to leave the trash and recycling and the homeowner make arrangements to have it delivered to the transfer station. A couple of other minor issues arose during the stay. When we arrived, the dishwasher was full of dirty dishes and two of the beds had not been made. Not a preference to arrive for a vacation and have to make beds and do dishes. Upon return one evening, there was a significant amount of ants on the kitchen counter and inside a Ziploc bag of cookies on the counter which had not been completely sealed. We did not see any more after that one occasion.
Make our home, your vacation home. This three-story house in the White Mountain National Forest is perfect for the family, retreat weekend or even a romantic getaway. Five bedrooms with large area for kids to play and adults to unwind. The first level has the master bedroom and full bath, kitchen, dining area, living room, and sun room. The living room, sun room and master all over look the breath taking White Mountains and North Conway Valley. The top floor has two bedrooms, one overlooking the valley and a full bath with a jacuzzi tub with the same view! Enjoy the fireplace with a hot cup of cocoa or go sledding off the back yard hills. Enough parking for four cars. The ground floor includes with two bedrooms (one large room for play and sleeping), a full bath, laundry room and exit to the back yard.
If the scenic view from the house isn't enough, enjoy the variety of walking to hiking trails just minutes away or drive down to North Conway (5 mi) and enjoy the Conway Scenic train.
Get outside and play golf or tennis at Eagle Mountain Inn. But beware of the Moose and other wild animals as you look for your ball. Or let the kids have a day of adventure and rides at StoryLand just 5 minutes away!
Ski Enthusiasts/Beginners: Head down the street to the ski shop, get fitted for boots, skis and snowboards, then drive 10 minutes in either direction and take the family down the slopes at Mt. Cranmore or Mt. Attitash or Black Mountain. For all you shoppers, drive down to North Conway Village and enjoy the local shops all with tax free shopping and outlet prices.
Take 16A North and take a right at the Covered Bridge on 16B and stop at Yesterday's for a warm hot chocolate and fresh corned beef hash. Pull off the side of the road and take a look at the picturesque Ellis River - even better, take your family photos. Some of our favorite memories are made at Nestlenook Farms with sleigh/carriage rides, ice skating, paddle boats, hiking, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.
Other food favorites include: Wild Cat Inn & Pub, Glen Junction and Scarecrow Pub.
