Split Pine Cabin, a newly remodeled and updated 4 bedroom & 3 bath home, is an amazing retreat situated atop a hill overlooking an expansive valley with a porch for relaxing, dining, and wild-life viewing, and a dark night sky for star gazing. The house is large and roomy and fully stocked with all the necessities of home, including a fully operational kitchen for entertaining large groups.

Enjoy the many opportunities to relax:

• In the warm months:

o Relax on the outdoor porches taking in the sun during the day and viewing the impressive stars at night.

o Take advantage of our fully stocked kitchen (sharp knives and lots of cooking tools) or outdoor gas grill to cook a special meal to enjoy in the covered patio dining area with dimmer lights to set the mood.

o Observe the wild life such as deer around the property and hope for a quick afternoon rain to view the rainbows over the field in front of the house.

• In the cold months:

o Relax by the fireplace and cozy couches downstairs or by enjoying the flat screen television with cable and DVD player upstairs.

o In the evening, take a soak in the large bathtub in the master bathroom. Or let the tension slip away by taking a shower in our master shower with dual shower heads. Don't forget the hot springs - a quick 5 minute drive away.

This 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home is large and roomy and fully stocked with all the necessities of home. Our comfortable beds (sleeps 12) include two king size beds, a queen bed, and a big room with a queen bed, 2 single beds, and a bunk bed. We have a few sleeping mats and couches if there are more people in your group. We provide all linens and towels, with additional soft blankets for cuddling up on the leather couches.

This is the perfect home for a large extended family or several families. Kid and pet friendly. First floor is wheelchair accessible.

• The entire southern Colorado region offers a variety of wilderness areas to explore and have fun in including hiking, fishing, rafting, hunting, golfing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, horseback riding, and other recreational activities.

• We have a House Guide book that we have put together with information regarding all of the places to visit, explore, and enjoy in the area.

About Katrina

We travel back and forth to Pagosa from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Katrina works as a midwife at the University of New Mexico, and Peter is the director of a non-profit. We have one dog child (a lab mix), who loves Pagosa, especially chasing deer around the property.

Katrina purchased this house in 2012

Why Katrina chose Pagosa Springs

We enjoyed our frequent trips to Pagosa to ski, soak in the springs, and listen to music at the festivals that we decided to buy a home here. We fell in love with this house the moment we saw it. During the day, the peaceful views of the meadow can be enjoyed from the expansive porch. At night, we often watch the shooting stars flare across the sky, and enjoy dinners, laughter, and making music with friends we host at the house. We love to cook and grill, so the kitchen reflects our desire to have everything needed for the perfect meal.

What makes this house unique

The location is perfect - it feels remote, yet town is right around the bend, hidden out of site. There are so many fun things to do in Pagosa - skiing, hiking, fishing, hunting, playing in the river, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, golfing, soaking in the hot springs, music festivals, and more!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Absolutely beautiful house in a beautiful area with great views. Very close to downtown as well. Came with large group and had a great time. Lots of space with a good amount of yard between neighbors as well (Never worried about noise levels). Would definitely recommend for families or groups of friends. Thanks!

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 3 families in town for a ski vacation at Wolf Creek. This house was fabulous for all of us! It was clean, spacious, and had all that we could possibly need. First of all, the binder Pete and Katrina have put together is incredibly thorough for Pagosa Springs and the surrounding area. Thanks to them we did some great hiking on our off-ski day...which we probably wouldn't have known about if not for the binder. The kitchen is VERY well stocked for cooking. We also appreciated that there was clothes detergent available (nice touch). Beer mugs in the freezer! Love that. We loved the big dining table so that we could all fit around it to eat together.

The wifi works great.

Directions for how to handle everything in the house are plentiful and thorough as well..from what to do with recycles to instructions for the grill and gas fireplace.

3 full baths!...couldn't be better...and the master is huge!

The location is perfect...close to everything.

There really was nothing we ever questioned or needed. One teenager mentioned that a second TV would be nice...but really no big thing to me!

Our only disappointment was that we were really hoping the rainbow would be there upon arrival. Ha ha.

Thanks so much for a great stay. We will look to rent here again should we need a place this big in the future!

Wonderful Home!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent New Year's weekend in this amazing cabin with another family. At one point, my oldest commented that with 8 kids in one house, it shouldn't be nearly as comfortable and calm! But it truly was. We absolutely loved how roomy and comfy it was. Our families did everything from play board games, to chat in front of the fire, to take in Harry Potter movie marathons and the college football playoffs on the upstairs TV, to cook scrumptious meals in the extremely well-stocked kitchen. We left only to sled and go to Church! Katrina is incredibly easy to work with and this vacation was a snap to plan. Thank you so much!

Beautiful cabin, perfect host

  • 5 of 5

This cabin couldn't be better! The kitchen has everything you need and then some. The beds are amazing, and the view is even better. The house is close enough to walk to the hot springs/downtown, which we did several times over the weekend.

You won't be disappointed with the Split Pine Cabin!

Property was comfortable, remote yet close to everything! The cabin accommodated our family perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Split Pine Cabin met our needs and expectations wonderfully! It was perfect for family members from Colorado Springs and Albuquerque to come together for a few days and reconnect and celebrate family. The kitchen had all we needed and more, the sleeping accommodations were adequate and the location of beautiful Pagosa Springs was perfect. The aspen were changing and that was a bonus to be there at that time. Thanks so much for making your cabin available... it was perfect for making new family memories!

Nice property

  • 5 of 5

We had a nice stay at the property. Dog friendly and a good place to have your pets. Nice accommodations. Bit of a hike to town (bout 1.5 miles), but far enough away to be quiet. Overall we were happy with our stay.

This was an awesome house for a large group - we had 10 total.

  • 5 of 5

Very nice house for our size party which included grown children, several spouses, and 1 - 86 year old grandfather, 10 of us total. We had plenty beds, 3 full bathrooms, and a well-stocked kitchen. We loved the long table downstairs that facilitated 3 nights of game playing! We cooked all of our meals in the house except for lunches, and Katrina was very helpful in letting us know which appliances she had on hand which made it easy to leave our supplies at home. We also appreciated 2 living areas, 1 up and 1 down, that helped us have some space from each other to study and sleep. Thanks for a memorable visit to Pagosa Springs. We'd like to visit again in this beautiful location.
