Located on the secluded West End of Dauphin Island, views of the Gulf of Mexico are beautiful from the living room or the 1200 square foot of upstairs deck. There is a lower deck and Tiki bar, with shade, cool breezes,, a grill and a hammock. A short walk takes you to the beach 300 feet away.
This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home has a living room that overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. The upstairs deck wraps around three sides of the home with fantastic views, plenty of deck chairs and a grill. Inside the master bedroom has a king bed, second bedroom has a queen bed, the third has bunks and there is a foldout queen in the living room. Satellite TV with flat screens in the living room and two bedrooms have HBO and Cinemax, and the WiFi is free.
The home has custom kitchen and bathroom cabinetry that is two years old. The enclosed downstairs outdoor hot and cold shower is new. A new air conditioning unit was installed March 2016.The 18 year old home is routinely maintained and updated.
The home is decorated with art from local artists and a couple from the Florida Keys. Pictures give a local flavor and history.
There are no McDonald's and no traffic lights on Dauphin Island. If high rise condos, long waits at restaurants and lines at the grocery stores is the environment you are looking for, Dauphin Island will disappoint you. Knot Inn is located in a residential/resort community of individual homes on the low density West End of the island. The sugar white beach is in front of the house; restaurants, gift shops, a large marina, fishing, boating, Indian mounds, an historic Civil War fort, a Sea Lab, Estuarium and more are five minutes away.
You can take a 30 minute ferry ride across the mouth of Mobile Bay to the Fort Morgan peninsula, a resort area with high rises condos and exceptional golf at Kiva Dunes resort. From Fort Morgan it is a 25 minute drive to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, a cosmopolitan type resort area with everything from water parks, golf, restaurants, nightclubs, concert venues and much more. Then you can return to the relative serenity of Dauphin Island.
Historic Mobile with fine dining and entertainment is 45 minutes north of the island, and Biloxi, Mississippi casino gambling is 45 minutes to the west.
Dauphin Island is a residential/resort/fishing community of 1600 permanent residents. There are no traffic lights and no McDonalds. There is one large general store with everything one needs, two gas station/convenience stores, a large marina, restaurants and lounges, churches of many denominations, and miles of sugar white beaches.
Dauphin Island Sea Lab, Estruarium, historic civil war Fort Gaines and Indian mounds are some of the attractions on the island. Nearby beautiful Bellingrath Gardens and Home, historic City of Moble, Mississippi Gulf coast gambling casinos and much more are all less than one hour away. A 30 minute ferry ride across the mouth of Mobile Bay takes you to Fort Morgan, another Civil War fort. Admiral Farragut's famous order 'Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead' was given as he ran Union ships between the two forts in the Battle of Mobile Bay.
From Fort Morgan you can visit the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area.
