About this property

Charming Villa, Fab Sea Views, Quiet location, Walk to Beach, Big Tropical pool

Casa La Aldea is a beautifully situated property in the tropical landscaped and exclusive La Aldea development, which is on Punta de la Mona in La Herradura. There are wonderful sea views from its welcoming terrace, living room, and dining room. The terrace has all day sun and a shady Kasbah for lounging. It has plenty of space for dining and relaxing day or night with its atmospheric lighting, outside furniture, and barbecue area. The house is charming and cosy. It is ideal for a family of 4 or two couples, but can accommodate up to 6. Downstairs are 3 bedrooms and there are 2 bathrooms newly refurbished in 2021.
There is high speed internet, a Smart TV with local Spanish TV and a Netflix Guest account for your use or if you have Amazon Prime, just log in! There is a library in the feature tower, and a cupboard with a collection of games.
The house has cool sea breezes and is located beside the quiet communal pool set in a subtropical garden. The pool has been completely renewed and is a natural salt pool not chlorine. There are currently new Covid related cleaning routines and strict rules on usage for all guests safety.
Casa Aldea is a home that is ideal for families and couples as it offers peace and quiet, yet is close to the many beaches, restaurants, and bars. For the active there is golf, diving, snorkeling, tennis, Padel tennis, table-tennis, horse riding, sailing and windsurfing all within a few minutes. Granada’s Alhambra Palace, and the Sierra Nevada Ski resort are only an hour away.

If you are staying over the Christmas period the house will come with a Christmas package, including a large Christmas tree with lights and decorations all included in the rental.

Fantastic terrace but poor quality furnishings
The location of the house in La Herradura was good with the most amazing views across the bay to Almunacar and Sierra Nevada mountains. However, the quality of the furnishings throughout the property was poor - the terrace furniture was probably excellent about 10 years ago but it's been left to gradually deteriorate, mattresses are lumpy and stained, the sofa and chair are worn out. The place also needs a deep clean it was only superficially cleaned. The main bedroom is listed as having a Queen bed but it's actually just a double so that was disappointing as well. Whilst the showers had good powered hot water, one is a squeeze and the other had a tendency to leak if you ran the shower at full power. The general area of La Herradura is good, pebbly long beach with lots of restaurants to visit and it's close enough to visit many other places like Frigiliana, Torrox etc. Overall we were disappointed by the house but the terrace was sunny all day with the most amazing views

i can’t put into words how perfect our family vacation turned out. The home, the location, the view were all above our expectations. This was a successful bucket-list experience.

We were satisfied with the House. Some of the household appliances and one of the showers were a bit worn out. But otherwise no complaints. Good service and contact. Spectacular view

About the host

My wife and I bought the house in 2000 as a family holiday home and we now use it to getaway from the winter in the UK. We love the charm and cosiness of the house and the stunning views from the terrace. Aldea is a perfect community of very architecturally interesting houses that create a wonderful ambience with lush pathways and well manicured trees. Our children loved spending all the school holidays in our Spanish home as they grew up and still come as often as they can now. We love the tranquility and in the winter we always have a fire made of olive wood to warm the evenings.

Why they chose this property

The house has an immediate effect on guests with its charm and tranquility. The terrace is lovely during the day with it's stunning views to the sea, mountains and the snow capped Sierra Nevadas, but also at night with subtle lighting around the terrace and with the plants and trees, it makes it perfect for evenings outside watching the stars and the twinkling lights down the coast as far as the eye can see. We are next to the community pool, which is rarely busy. Close enough that we can call from the window to the pool to tell the children that lunch is ready, but not disturbed by any noise as it is the opposite side to our main terrace and rooms.

What makes this property unique

Our guests return to Aldea again and again for the same reasons as we do. The stunning and exhilarating views from the terrace, the tranquility, great restaurants and Spanish culture. From the terrace you can see for 45 miles down the coast and at night it is lit up like Christmas with twinkling lights as far as you can see. There is a built in BBQ on the terrace for home dining.
We are lucky enough to be able to walk to La Herradura for our morning coffee on the beach or to the Marina Playa. There is a quick root through the trees underneath the light house straight to the Marina beach so no road walking!
There are so many excellent restaurants in the village at very reasonable prices.
We love growing our own fruit and I have planted fruit trees down the side of the house, avocados, grapefruit, oranges peaches and nectarines just help yourself when they are in season! Also on the terrace garden there are lots of herbs freshly planted each year, so please help yourself to the fresh Basil coriander, rosemary and thyme as well as the herbs and spices in the spice cupboard. Just replace whatever you finish so there is plenty for the next guests!
