Our two bedroom Vacation Rental Home in Buckley Bay, has 200 feet of waterfront including a private beach. The home is nestled amongst tall trees with incredible 180 degree views of the Ocean, BC Coastal Mountains and the Northern Gulf Islands.

1200 sq.ft of ocean front living space.

Two Bedrooms (sleeps 6)

Bedroom #1 has a queen bed.

Bedroom #2 has a queen bed and a set of bunk beds.

Two Bathrooms.

The house is set up and is ideal for a single family or 2 couples.

We allow a maximum of 4 adults to stay. If 6 adult family members wish to stay, we are OK with that.

About John and Sue Twose

We live next door to the Beach House (the 2 houses are on the same property, but private to each other) and look after all our bookings and deal with our guests directly. We are originally from the UK and emmigrated to Canada in 1992 where we lived in Alberta for 10 years before moving out to the coast!

Buckley Bay Beach House is a great spot to have a holiday, whether it is just for a quick week end or for a week or more - there is so much to see and do in the area. It is perfectly located to explore central and northern Vancouver Island.

If you like hiking, golfing, skiing, boating, kayaking, biking, swimming, beach combing, caving, mountaineering etc (the list goes on) - this is the place to be!

What makes this house unique

Waterfront, on an acre of land, private location. Courtenay and Comox are just 15 minutes away along the very scenic coastal highway. Mt Washington Alpine Resort and Strathcona Provisional Park are just a 30 minute drive away. Horne Lake Caves are just down the road, Campbell River (great whale watching tours) is just up the road. Cumberland with all its fantastic bike trails is only 10 minutes away and is a funky, vibrant village.

Beautiful Place with some nice views.

We stayed at John and Sue's place for two nights and had wonderful time. We arrived at our place at 3:30 pm and had little early check in. They also let us do late check in which we greatly appreciate. Sue came to make sure that we are comfortable at our new place and if we need anything. Even though they live next door they did not bother us at all and we had complete privacy to our place. We really enjoyed our first evening using their hot tub overlooking amazing view. Unfortunately whether wasn't that great and it was raining the whole time and we were not able to enjoy their backyard at all. They have nice open place in the back for family to enjoy. John and Sue thanks for letting us stay at your place.

Thank you Sue and John for a lovely stay! Your cottage was perfect for our family weekend stay. We loved being right on the water and having a beach bonfire. The cottage was fully equipped with everything we needed. It was close to Mount Washington and Comox. The perfect spot to explore the area. We would highly recommend your property. Thank you!

Location! Clean! Beautiful! Quiet! Perfect!

We had the most amazing experience! Clean and spacious home. Beautiful views, and very quiet relaxing atmosphere! Exactly what we as a family were looking for. Great location for those day trips, and it was perfect for those quiet evenings in the hot tub when our son went to bed. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay on the island. And if you love oysters as I do! Location is second to none. Thank you so much John and Sue!

Unfortunate experience because of the host

Unfortunately, our stay at this property was spoiled by the offensive and ineffective way one of the owners handled an otherwise well-managed situation. The property is lovely, great location on the ocean and accessible to Mount Washington. However, when we arrived our first night after a long afternoon of travel, we found the property had no hot water. We did not realized there was no hot water after dinner, when we pieced together the facts that the showers weren't hot, the dishwasher wasn't cleaning the plates, and the kitchen sink wouldn't run hot. At first we thought it was a case of the pipes warming up. When we realized this, a plumber and engineer in our group went to check out the hot water tank and discovered that it was in terrible condition overall - was rusted all over, the water intake was corroded, and needed to be replaced. This would have been obvious for at least a few weeks. We discussed and debated calling the owners, but did not want to wake them (at this point, it was after midnight). We decided to text them.

The next morning we hadn't received a reply, so I called the owners around 8am and got no answer. One of the owners, John, promptly returned my call, apologized and said he would do his best to get someone in their to fix the water before we returned from a day of skiing. He was very helpful, got someone in who fixed the hot water, and all seemed good.

However, when we contacted Sue, the other owner, that same afternoon to ask about receiving a partial refund because of the lack of a fundamental service the first night, she was evasive, unhelpful, and rather rude. She asked how old we were (all between 28 and 33, not that it should matter), suggested that we got a good price for the people staying there (we paid exactly what it was listed for on VRBO - it was not particularly cheap for the off-season and we had exactly the suggested number of people staying), and implied that she would wait to "see how we left the place" before she considered providing some sort of refund or apologizing, thereby implying that we were untrustworthy and sloppy guests. (For the record, we left the place in great shape and she admitted this on the phone a week later). She did not apologize for the situation and did not handle it well, which marred the way John

had handled it so effectively at the start. Shame. Great place but I would never stay here again.

You notified us of the hot water tank failing at 8:00am and we were very pleased that we managed to get a plumber to replace the tank and have hot water again by 10:30am (2.5 hours later). Buckley Bay Beach House vacation rental is centrally located in Buckley Bay, a small community that is part of the Comox Valley on the east coast of Vancouver Island, BC. Our waterfront location, with private beach, wildlife viewing and large garden, will keep you as busy as you want to be but if your itinerary includes getting out to see more of Vancouver Island (and there’s lots to see and do) we have some suggestions for you.

Whale watching (for killer whales!!), salmon fishing, golfing, hiking in wonderful Strathcona Provincial Park, downhill skiing/snowboarding/nordic skiing at Mount Washington Alpine Resort, great family fun exploring at Horne Lake Caves, visit Hornby Island (the ferry is just down the road) for lovely hiking along the bluffs in Halliwell Park or on the beach at Tribune Bay.
