About Karen and Richard

Hello. My husband and I moved to Northern CA many years ago and Lake Tahoe has always been our special place. We are so proud and excited to finally own a place of our own here.

I grew up outside of Chicago and the mountains and lake simply fascinate me. I love the serenity and beauty that is all around in Lake Tahoe.

My husband grew up in Denver area so loves to ski and also cycle. He rides up and down the Kingsbury Grade 'for fun' when we are there in non winter months. He's just taken up mountain biking because of all the trails and sights available outside our door. If you are here in the warmer time- the Flume Trail and Lake Marlette are absolutely amazing. You can cross country ski to Lake Marlette from Spooner in the winter.

We use our home as often as we can but welcome to opportunity to share it with others with hope that it will be as appreciated and enjoyed by those renting it. We are a bit nervous about this venture but hope that if you choose to stay in our property that you will appreciate the quality and craftmanship and will take care of it as you would want your home taken care of.

Why Karen and Richard chose Tahoe Village

We have a timeshare at 'the Ridge' at the top of Kingsbury Grade so we come to Tahoe many times every year. We love it up here and have been looking for years for the right property to buy.

It was challenging finding all the features we wanted - the cozy Tahoe woodsy look and feel but also a garage and parking and a building that is well maintained. We found this duplex (our neighbor is awesome and has the identical unit as us and lives there year round) that had most of the features we wanted but was in great need up updating.

So we contacted our family in Utah that does custom woodworking and they put in all custom cabinets, wood trim, hand made doors, that put the charm and Tahoe feel that we were looking for into our home. The quality and craftmanship or our home is still can't believe it's ours!

What makes this townhome unique

All the woodwork is custom and unique of the highest quality that you will not find elsewhere. The location to the ski lifts is so convenient. The garage and driveway make parking and storage ideal. It is on a main road so streets are well plowed and access is easy in the winter months.

Great location and space

Having stayed in this area for skiing at Heavenly several times in the past, I knew what questions to ask before booking. How many stairs to the unit? One flight up to the front door of the unit (covered and protected from snow and ice) then one more flight up to the main living area. I have stayed at places near there where there are over 90 stairs just to get to the unit, making it challenging to get luggage from your car.

Is there covered parking? Yes, there are 2 garages with doors. They are on the smaller side but I was able to get my Acura MDX SUV in and close the door. The owner told me in advance that they would not fit oversize vehicles like an Escalade or a long full size pickup. There are however 2 offstreet parking spaces in the driveway, which while it is a bit on the steep side did not bottom out my vehicle coming or going.

Is there fast, reliable wifi? Yes, 2 guest channels (regular and 5G) that easily accommodated multiple devices.

The owner Karen was helpful before and during my stay. Two nice flat screen TVs, one in the master downstairs and the other in the main living area, with good cable channel selections plus some movie channels made for nice entertainment. There were a number of helpful signs posted throughout the unit that more vacation rental owners could use offering tips on climate control, tech instructions and other helpful dos and don'ts to make the stay more pleasant.

This is a 3 bedroom unit, with the master downstairs and 2 other bedrooms upstairs. While I stayed there by myself (it can sleep up to 8 people) and it was quite a bit bigger than I needed, the price was reasonable enough to justify the stay. I will stay there again, possibly in the summer for mountain biking, as the garage space would hold plenty of bikes and gear securely.

homey and comfortable

Clean and user-friendly! The kitchen really is well stocked and the internet was fantastic which was an important consideration for us. Beds were comfortable and towels were super nice. We really appreciated the information about how to be sure we were comfortable with the heating, and use of the condo. The instructions were perfect. The location was ideal for us, up the mountain some but down town still accessible. Highly recommend.

Wonderful house!

Fantastic Stay!

We had an exquisite time staying at this property. The house is gorgeous throughout with EVERYTHING you could need. The only thing you need to walk in the front door with is groceries and the house becomes a home. We were very comfortable here and had a few couples come up and enjoy the home with us for a weekend visit. My husband and I both work from home and were able to work easily during the week. The house is wifi ready for any mobile office. We stayed during the summer but I'm sure the garages would be VERY handy in the winter. There is a restaurant close by that you can walk to and a local bus if you want to go to town. The house is immaculate and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen is gorgeous and remodeled with superior attention to detail. The owners are extremely accessible if you have any questions and there are very friendly neighbors to chat with. We bbq'd quite a few times and enjoyed the deck in the early evening. I will definitely recommend this home to my friends and hope to come back soon!

This home is clean and well maintained and nicely upgraded throughout, from bathroom amenities to custom solid wood cabinetry and doors. The owner thoughtfully provided ample supply of cookware, towels, washer/dryer machines, to games for kids, entertainments for adults including cable TV, Sony PlayStation, DVD player, sound bar.

We feel cozy coming back to this home after hitting the ski slopes. It's minutes from the ski resort, shopping mall and restaurants. We would come back to this home on our next ski trip and would definitely recommend it to our friends and family.

Our home is on top of the mountain with the Boulder Lodge Ski lift at the end of the road less than 1/2 mile away. There is a shuttle that will pick you up and drop you off right by the house or you can drive less than 5 minutes with free parking at either Boulder or Stagecoach lifts. In the winter enjoy a variety of activities from downhill skiing, snowboarding, sledding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and simply playing in the snow building snowmen! There is a shuttle that runs to the ski resort and also down to the lake for fine dining, gambling, shopping.

SUMMER ANd FALL:

Enjoy hiking and cycling (road and mountain) with unmatched views and beauty. Golfing, swimming, sight-seeing, all close by.

FOOD:

The Chart House restaurant is on Kingsbury Grade (about a mile away) for awesome steaks and food and views of lake tahoe and the sunset. The Fox and Hound has great breakfast and sandwiches - located a few blocks away.

HIKING AND BIKING:

There is the Tahoe Rim Trail just down the street for amazing hiking and mountain biking.

There is Brautovich Park, less than a mile down the road for more hiking and mountain biking.. from beginner short paths to advanced/challenging areas.

There are numerous locations withing walking distance from the house to view the lake and sunset from the mountaintop.
