About Nate Bump

I grew up next door to this cabin. It had originally belonged to my grandmother/grandfather and was passed down to me. I played professional baseball for 14 years and was part of the 2003 World Series Champion Florida Marlins.

Why Nate Bump chose Monroe

This property has been in my family since the sixties. The mountains, streams, and trees are all a part of me and my upbringing.

What makes this cabin unique

The stars on a cold crisp nite. The day to day changes on the mountaintops whether it be the color of the leaves or the ice that forms near the very top. The wildlife that always seems to make an appearance and make each day feel unique. The history of the valley...a steam train used to travel back through the value to transport wood and coal.

A real nice place and wont break the bank. Spacious and rustic with plenty of amenities. Stayed with three friends from HS and my two bird dogs. We hunted nearby with success. Will be back next year.

We LOVED this place.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin because we were attending a nearby family wedding. Little did we know that we would fall in love with the place. Comfy beds and couches, places to hide and read, mountain views, deer in the yard and of course the creek across the street. Perfection. We also lucked out and had fabulous weather. Can't say enough good stuff about this place. We will be back. Thanks to the Bump family for sharing this wonderful place.

Great cabin, Great Stay, Many Memories!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our visit to Smoky Pines. The house was plenty large for our family of 7 (plus our golden retriever!) the kitchen was roomy with an amazingly large table that suited us perfectly! All the kids had their own sleeping spaces and the two bathrooms was perfect. The yard, the porch and fire pit is where we spent a lot of time chilling and enjoying the nice weather. The creek was a favorite for most of the family including the swimming hole a short ways away. The views were amazing! The only down side my boys would say is that the dishwasher wasn't working so they had to hand wash. I loved seeing "No Service" on my phone but had awesome wifi access when I needed it. Seeing the deer eating the apples each day was also a pleasing sight. The owners were very courteous and we wanted for nothing in the house. Thank you!

Great place for fun!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I took seven of our grandchildren to Smokey Pines, and a wonderful time was had by all. The kids were especially pleased by the close location of the swimming hole. Lamoka looks just like one of the pictures on the web site, with the rock formations. Take swim shoes, because the rocks are sharp. The water is so refreshing, and we all had fun catching tadpoles and minnows, swimming, and jumping off rocks (no diving). It was a toss-up for second favorite: the fire pit for roasting marshmallows or the sand pile beside the patio and across the road beside the creek. They buried each other up to their waists. Be sure to take some sand toys.

The property is beautiful, with a huge, well-maintained yard. Bradford County is a very scenic and tranquil area. The house is comfortably furnished, and everything is provided -- lots of towels, bedding, hand soap, paper supplies, etc. All the kids wanted to sleep in the bunk beds and on the chaise lounge, so they had to take turns. The house was very clean.

This was the perfect place for kids. By Tuesday, they were saying, "When we come back next year. . . ." It would also be a perfect place for adults to just relax. Marj Savidge

We loved our stay, hopefully everything was fine when we left. We just had one suggestion: the downstairs bedrooms did not have any hooks or anything to hang hanging clothes on. Maybe a board on the back of the door with some hooks would be great. Thank you for all your kindness. When we travel back this way again, we will be sure to look it up again.

Perfect getaway in the middle of nowhere

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a simple, no frills getaway then this is the perfect place! Very relaxing out in the middle of nowhere with a beautiful stream across the road for swimming, fishing or just exploring. Our nights were spent in front of the firepit gazing at the stars and enjoying the sounds of the stream. The Bump family was wonderful! Looking forward to our next vacation here!

Located in a very rural and picturesque area in Southwestern Bradford County, the cabin is just off the road with the Schrader Creek directly in front. The Creek can have a white water rating from 1-4 depending upon the season and rainfall. Many miles of dirt roads and meandering streams that are great for trout fishing, mountain biking, hiking, cross country skiing or rafting/kayaking. Lamoka is a beautiful place to see with large rock formations and great swimming holes. Sunfish Pond County Park can also be found nearby for great fishing and camping. The Finger Lakes and wineries along with the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon all make great day trips. Eagles Mere and Worlds End State Park all also less than an hour away. The cabin sits in a green valley between three mountains that is within 1/2 mile of 35,000 acres of state games lands which offers great hunting and scenery.
