Remember this is not a sparsely decorated rental. Its our family vacation home. The subdivision Portal IV is a noise sensitive neighborhood. Loud music/parties can be heard across the mountains and valleys. This is a great place for a quiet retreat or small get together. But please be very considerate of our neighbors who ask as hosts that we ensure our guests to refrain from loud music/parties that disrupt the community. Also, please note that our streets are ONE-WAY streets. Please observe the ONE-WAY traffic flow signs for your safety and the safety of others. If we as owners receive a complaint, we will unfortunately have to ask you to leave immediately without a refund. Yes, that is how private this community is :-)

Our Cabin in Pine has great views of the Mogollon Rim, we sit at 5,681' above sea level. We'd love to share it with you !

Cozy, comfy and great location

  • 5 of 5

This cozy cabin was perfect for our stay over the Thanksgiving period. It's a beautiful setting with expansive views of forests, mountains and the Mogollon Rim. There's a great wrap around deck which we took full advantage of every morning for coffee and breakfast, and again in the late afternoon with a glass of wine - thanks to unusually warm weather we were able to do this every day for the five days we were there. We also sat out and enjoyed the dazzling night sky! We specifically booked the cabin because it had a fireplace, but because of the warm weather we didn't use it. The cabin is clean, very comfortable, and tastefully decorated. It had everything we needed for meals and is well equipped. The location was a just a couple of minutes drive from the town of Pine - you could even walk if you were feeling energetic enough. Would highly recommend the spectacular Rim Road drive and the Tonto State Park, both close by. We also enjoyed wandering through town, and can recommend the Old County Inn for dinner (but be prepared to wait and to sit outside - it's very popular and the inside is tiny). We thoroughly enjoyed our very relaxing stay and would definitely return.

Great Cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is great. Don't understand non refundable cleaning fee since you are expected to strip the beds when you leave and haul out your trash. Also put all towels on the washer.

Cabin was great and had wonderful view. Julia is a sweet heart.

Quaint retreat from the hustle and bustle of Phoenix

  • 4 of 5

We came to this Cabin to enjoy our honeymoon. We are from the Phoenix area. We LOVED how quiet, and charming this cabin was. There was plenty of space, very clean and the host provided great instructions with everything we needed for our stay. We spent a lot of time in the hot tub. The view from the hot tub is amazing, and there was nothing more peaceful then enjoying the sunset from there. The host provided great directions, and made it simple to find the cabin. It was a pleasure staying there.

The only perhaps negative feedback, is that the king size bed was not the most comfortable bed in the world. We actually found ourselves sleeping in the guest room in the queen a couple nights. And - since there is no trash service for the cabin, we had to take ours to the Texaco station nearby. It does charge $2 a bag - not a big deal, but did surprise us a little bit.

All in all, we are thrilled we stayed there for our honeymoon. Pine has some great restaurants! We loved the Randall House for breakfast! Highly recommended. We also went to opening night at the Pinewood Tavern - very good! We heard a lot of great things about the Old Country Inn, but didnt get a chance to make it there. Many of the restaurants were not open on Monday or Tuesday which is understandable for a small town.

We did some great hiking at the Tonto Natural Bridge, and also the Pine trailhead. We loved the great outdoors, and how easily accessible it was from the Cabin.

I highly recommend this cabin if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing oasis from the daily grind!

Our week long stay in the Pine/Strawberry area

  • 4 of 5

Overall we enjoyed the experience. The property is in a nice, quiet area, (actually a gated community) and the view is nice. We enjoyed the deck with the hot tub and BBQ very much. The rooms are very comfortable and the three bathrooms an asset. Overall the house is nice but its due for some updating. There are deck boards that need to be replaced and the kitchen and pantry are undersized. Space in general is an issue as the owners use a good part of it for their stuff. We were a little disappointed in the cleaning job that had been done particularly the windows. Having to haul out your garbage is an inconvenience but not a show stopper and is perhaps a norm for the area.

The Pine/Strawberry area we liked very much and no doubt will return. There is plenty to do and its not crowded like Sedona has become. There is a small grocery store in Pine and Payson is only about 15 minutes away where you can get anything.

All and all a very nice vacation.
