SUMMER ACTIVITIES AT SNOWSHOE AND SURROUNDING AREAS
Summertime at Snowshoe Mountain is truly a hidden gem. While the rest of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic suffers through oppressive heat and humidity, summer day temperatures at Snowshoe hover between 70 and 80 with subtle breezes and seemingly very little humidity.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Snowshoe Village, including the shops, restaurants and bars, all stay open to offer a fun, yet relaxing getaway. For the adventure seekers, Snowshoe boasts some of the best mountain biking in the entire country, for both beginners and experts alike. Each weekend, ride your bike down the mountain and take the shuttle or a ski lift back up.
You can also take the lift down to Shavers Lake and enjoy the highest “beach” in WV. At the lake, you can rent paddle boats, play horseshoes, kick back in a hammock, have some food and drinks at the Boathouse, or take a hike around the lake. The kids can also enjoy the water at Split Rock Pools, which has a popular “dumping barrel” that the little ones are sure to love.
Other summer activities include golf at the breathtaking Raven Golf Course, located at the bottom of Snowshoe Mountain. Consistently rated as the best public course in WV, the Raven offers a challenging, yet serene, course for very reasonable rates. The resort also offers off-road dune buggy tours, geocache hunts, sporting clays, and, for the kids, eurobungy and a climbing wall.
We hope your stay at our condo is enjoyable, relaxing and memorable!
