The Blue Door Cottage is a two bedroom, 1.5 bathroom cottage found on the Island of Prince Edward County in Ontario Canada.
This clean, sunny cottage has been owned since new.
It is situated in a quaint quiet country garden setting across the road from lakefront (no direct lake access).
The large back deck and stone veranda are great spaces for spending time with family or friends while the front stone veranda, reached via paths through the large stone garden, is ideal for watching the incredible Southbay sunsets over the lake with a glass of local sparkling.
Once the sun sets, guests can light a fire in the outdoor fire pit which is found within a large stone circle built and walled with stone from local farmers' fields.

We have owned this cottage since new and have transformed the property from a blank canvas to it's own little ecosystem in hopes of creating the perfect County retreat.
When we began this project, landscaping was simply a hobby but it has quickly become a passion, one that we are eager to share.
We hope to continue to build on our efforts in order to meet and cater to our guests needs.
This lovely cottage is located in South Marysbourg approx 20 km south of the town of Picton. Marysbourgh is a historic township in southern Ontario, Canada. It is one of the three original townships that formed Prince Edward County. The other two townships were Ameliasburgh and Sophiasburgh. Originally known as Fifth Township, it was renamed in 1786 after Princess Mary, the fourth daughter of George III. In 1871, the township was split into North and South Marysburgh townships. These two townships were amalgamated into the Corporation of the County of Prince Edward, a single tier municipality, on January 1, 1998.
After the American Revolution, a group of Germans who had fought as mercenaries settled in the area, one of the first German-speaking settlements in the province. Around the same time, former English and Irish soldiers also came to this area. One of the prominent regiment of soldiers to settle here was 84th Regiment of Foot (Royal Highland Emigrants). An Ontario Historical Plaque was erected in front of the museum by the province to commemorate the Marysburgh Settlement's role in Ontario's heritage.
Little Bluffs Conservation Area, only minutes from The Blue Door Cottage, is one of the best and most secluded swimming areas in The County. Little Bluffs beach is a perfect location for a family swim followed by a relaxing picnic lunch or dinner.
For dessert, you can drive down the road to Black River Cheese Factory to sample their cheese and indulge in their great selection of ice-cream.
If you're here during the tomato harvesting season, you can take your family and friends to the Tomato tasting event at Vickis Veggies where she offers over 100 different tomato varieties to taste. Vicki is one of The County's superstars who has been running her organic vegetable and fruit farm for several years now with accolades from all over the country.
If wine is your thing, The County is the place to be. With over 30 wineries on this little island, the wine traveler is spoiled for choice.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage with us. We couldn't have found a nicer place to introduce our guest from London to the beauty of the county.
First impressions can deceive, what with the barn which greets you when you first arrive. Once you steel in you realize what a lovely place this is. What will remain with us most is the silence only occasionally interrupted by what little traffic there is and the automated (and very silent) lawnmower. The cottage is a 20 minute drive Picton, 30 minutes from Bloomfield and about 15 minutes from Waupoos, so while it is away from the main towns, it is also close enough to enjoy good meals and experience the county.
The cottage itself is very well equipped and the beds super comfortable. While it does feel a little sterile, it was very comfortable too, what with the fire pit, the muskoka chairs on the front deck (with partial view of the bay and great sunsets), 2 bedrooms, a living room and a massive kitchen with dining table.
I would highly recommend the cottage to those looking for something comfortable (yet not deluxe), quiet and peaceful.
We are a family of four with two 4 year olds. From the minute we pulled into the driveway, we were all blown away. The Blue Door Cottage is so cute and charming. The landscaping is gorgeous and perfectly maintained. The cottage was VERY clean when we arrived. And it was just the right size - - with a family room, kitchen with all the modern amenities you could want. Having two bedrooms gave us room to spread out and relax. And we loved having a full bathroom plus a powder room which is great for emergencies with little ones. The option to eat outside but in a screened porch meant not having to deal with bugs and the fire pit, although we didn't end up using it, is a perfect place for s'mores! On top of that, the location was ideal - secluded but still within reach of everything in Prince Edward County. The drive was never too far to discover our favourite town of Milford, Picton, Waupoos, Lake on the Mountain, Sandbanks, Bloomfield, Wellington and much more! We will definitely stay at The Blue Door Cottage again. In fact our twins are already asking "when". Thanks, Peter, for answering every question promptly and helping to make our stay perfect. We can tell you put so much thought and care into making this vacation home... a home away from home. The LeBlancs
Everything you need is present for a pleasant stay.
Place is very clean and comfortable with gorgeous landscaping (with an automatic lawnmower that provided entertainment trying to figure out how it worked). All amenities were there including a fire pit which we took advantage of. The hosts went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, making a special trip to drop off dish towels. Prince Edward County has lots to see and do and I would highly recommend this cottage as a place to stay.
Just the perfect place for a quiet stay in the country.
My only regret was that we were only able to stay two nights at this wonderful little place, which is just as cozy and cute as the pictures would have you believe. Highly recommend visiting in fall, since the bright colors in all the lovely little towns nearby were spectacular.
Wonderful part of the world, and a wonderful place to experience it.
