Overview

About the property

Large (1100 Sq Ft) Log Cabin Sleeps 1-6 with private driveway and parking.

Welcome to Moose Walk Cabin. Your Alaskan home away from home is a two-story log home nestled on a quiet wooded lot by a large stream. The cabin is in a prime location, close to activities, but still remote enough to get that Alaska wilderness feel.

Perfect for aurora viewing, a romantic get away, family vacation, or extended stay.

LOCATION

Moose Walk Cabin is situated in the heart of all your Interior Alaska destinations: North Pole Alaska. Grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, and the famous Santa Claus house are a short 4 miles from the cabin. Downtown Fairbanks and Fairbanks International Airport are a quick 20 minute drive.

WINTER VISITORS

If comfortably watching natures greatest winter exhibition (the Aurora Borealis) is on your bucket list; then you've found the right place. No one knows what time of night the aurora will appear. Stay nice and cozy snuggled on the couch in the cabin, while you anxiously gaze out the large picture windows for the mystical aurora to begin its dance. While outside capturing those magical moments, don't worry about getting cold and missing a single second of the aurora. Nestle up to a crackling fire in front of the cabin as the skies mesmerize you with magical hues of green, purple, and red. Paths on the frozen ice are kept free of snow for alternate aurora shooting locations.

The below link is your view of the aurora from the cabin living room.

The winter weather turns our fishing kingdom into your very own private ice skating arena and hockey rink. Sticks, pucks, goals and some ice skates are provided. Playing in your winter boots is also a lot of fun--and safer for those that can't skate.

At the front porch, strap on your skis or snowshoes and trek out into the winter wonderland. You will find endless miles of trails waiting for you to discover them.

Are you looking for a snowmobile , ice fishing tour or Aurora viewing ice fishing tour? Your host Rod is a Licensed Guide and personally guides outdoor trips year round. Book your trip today. www.rodsalaskanguideservice.com

After a long day of braving the Alaskan cold, unwind by the wood stove as you listen to the wood crackle and watch the flames dance across the logs. Wood is free and provided on site. We are happy to provide instruction for the wood stove. The wood stove will heat the cabin but not necessary to use. The cabin has a fuel oil heater as the primary heat source.

SUMMER VISITORS

Paddle down the meandering stream in a canoe for a romantic trip or to spend quality time with the kids. Two canoes with multiple sizes of life vests are provided.

Jump in the canoe or amble along the bank to fish for grayling by fly rod or spinning rod. Grayling are easier to catch on a fly rod. Don't worry if you have never fished with a fly rod. It is easy. Every guest who has used a fly rod for the first time at Moose Walk Cabin has caught fish. Please let us know if you need fishing instruction. We are happy to help.

From the front door you can blaze endless miles of hiking, and ATV trails. Bring your ATVs; there is plenty of parking.

GREAT TO KNOW INFO

A rental vehicle is necessary when visiting Alaska. Public transportation is not what you see in other countries and big cities. Taxis are available, but cost is typically more than a rental vehicle. A one-way taxi trip to the airport is around $60.00. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is not necessary, but recommended if you plan to drive to the Arctic Circle.

About Terri Pangborn

We are a retired military family. We were stationed in Fairbanks Alaska from 2005 to 2009. We were relocated by the military, but knew we wanted to return to Alaska for retirement. In 2011 we had the opportunity to return to Alaska. We waited for "just the right place" to become available, for us to start our retirement dream of owning/operating a vacation rental in Alaska. Moose Walk Cabin was exactly what our family was looking for. We absolutely love everything about Alaska. We look forward to making your stay in Alaska, no matter how long, a memorable experience.

Terri Pangborn purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Terri Pangborn chose North Pole

We chose this property because of the location and the cabin. The private aurora views are amazing. We have moose all summer in our back yard and yet we are less than five minutes to town. We love the water access at our back door. We are able to canoe and fish any time during the summer. Mother nature turns our water into a hockey rink for winter fun. The icing on the cake is the amazing aurora viewing.

What makes this cabin unique

This private waterfront property allows travelers to have all the comforts from home while in Alaska. The tranquility, aurora views from the cabin steps, and wildlife are amazing. The cabin's Alaskan theme and charm makes this home away from home a truly unforgettable place.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This cabin really is a gem. Stay here--you won't be disappointed. Our family of 5 stayed for 45 days while we searched for a new home. Moose Walk Cabin had everything our family needed. We really enjoyed watching the wildlife through the large picture windows downstairs. The beds are the most comfortable I have ever slept on. Everything you need to cook (minus food) is in the large kitchen. The wood fired sauna was a great treat to relax in on a cold winter day. A grocery store and the Santa Claus House are only three minutes away in North Pole.

Beautiful lodge

  • 5 of 5

My family and I were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to spend a couple of nights at the Moosewalk Lodge. We wish we could have stayed longer. It was beautifully decorated and well maintained. The bedding was marvelous. The cabin had everything we needed available and even some things we never thought we would. I have very few complaints. They only opportunities for improvement that I see are handling the snow and ice a little better. It was very slippery unloading our belongings and when you headed out back I was really worried about slipping and falling. They also did not have a path leading to the shelter area where we had to go to get the camping chairs. The kids had to wade through very deep snow to get them. We did not use the shower for a day, and when we turned it on to shower our last day, you could really smell the sulfur which must be in the water. They also have a unique water system because it is quite loud any time the toilet is flushed or water is running. I wish the description of the cabin would have been updated as well. We were really looking forward to ice skating on the water. However, it was not plowed off because the ice was not safe. We were also a little shocked to find out that the lodge is kind of in a residential area. This is not what we were expecting from the photos and description. That said, it was very quiet and peaceful. You could not even really tell there were other houses around when you were there. Unfortunately, we did not see any wildlife nor the Aurora. It was too cloudy the nights we were there. Terri was very helpful when we had questions for her. She was very kind and accommodating. She left a super cute Hershey bar on everyone’s pillow. It was so thoughtful. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and we highly recommend it.

Exceptional stay

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is cozy and just right for a week of northern lights viewing. Well stocked, perfectly located, with friendly owners who go out of their way to be helpful. This cabin has everything. Wi-fi was strong. Coffee was plentiful. The moose cookies waiting for us at arrival was a nice, friendly touch. A TV in the bedroom upstairs would have been nice, but there is one downstairs with plenty of channels. All of the little details were considered in preparing this cabin. Note that the bathroom is upstairs. While well stocked with plenty of hot water in a good shower, if you have physical challenges, the stairs could pose a concern. We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone who wants a cabin with all the amenities distant enough from Fairbanks to get dark sky views while being close enough to take advantage of restaurant and shopping. A wonderful place to stay.

Beautiful cabin, wonderful stay.

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here. The cabin was clean, quiet, and comfortable with amazing attention to detail. Terri really thought of everything.

We got lucky enough to see the Aurora without even having to go out into the cold.

We are already planning our next visit.
