This mountain retreat is nestled inside the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area of Vermont's Green Mountain National Forest. It sits down in a hollow on 10 private, densely wooded acres at the end of a narrow, canopied gravel road one mile from the closest public thoroughfare.
When here, you will find yourself in the heart of wilderness surrounded by a forest of ash, cherry, sugar maple, beech, birch, hemlock, hickory, northern red oak, spruce, balsam fir and white pine. You may also be visited by the occasional squatter such as black bear, moose, deer or flock of wild turkeys.
The property is strategically built on granite ledge on land that slopes toward a babbling brook and an old overgrown logging road (great for hiking and spotting wildlife).
It is a crossroads for wildlife and extensive bird activity not only because there are no nearby roads or neighborly activity, but because of its extensive granite ledges all along the brook's ravine walls where animals search for forage and take shelter.
The house will comfortably sleep 6-8 people. It consists of 2 BR each with a queen bed, and an additional spacious sun-filled loft leading out to a cedar deck with breathtaking foliage views. Loft includes a convertible full-size lounger and queen-sized air mattress with additional floor space for sleeping bags. It has 1.5 baths, plus a refreshing outdoor shower.
The entire kitchen was just renovated and includes new stainless steel appliances as well as all kitchen utensils and dishware, such as a cuisinart grind & brew coffeemaker, mini food processor, blender and toaster oven.
Enjoy sitting on the new front and back cedar decks or around the fire pit absorbing the beauty and sounds (many wild birds) of the tree canopy rising from the babbling brook.
Included in the rental are all amenities such as high speed wireless internet, DISH network, local and domestic long distance calling, DVD player, ipod docking stereo, bedding and towels. There are board games and some lawn games available, as well as the use of two adult and one children's bicycle.
Ducks and dogs always stay free. However, please keep them off the furniture.
Free blueberry picking at two blueberry management areas maintained by U.S. Forest Service within walking distance. Raspberry and blackberry picking on property as well.
Blaze your own trail to Silver Lake, Falls of Lana and Lake Dunmore or simply hike around the property and surrounds identifying trees and wildlife tracks.
