About this property

Exquisite Historic Suite Close to Downtown 14-21673

Located within walking distance to downtown Portland and convenient to the Pearl district, this romantic private suite is appointed with all of the luxuries found in a fine hotel. There is also a communal deck with mountain and river views available for your use when the weather permits.
A queen sized bed in the main bedroom sleeps two but there is also another queen sized sofa bed in another room along with all the bedding needed. A small kitchenette and a sitting room with a counter for your electronics serves as a breakfast table. Since it was my art studio there are lots of art and interior design books to peruse along with games to use.
The suite is accessed by an elevator and it is completely private. #14-21673

Unfortunate Vehicle Break in Experience
Overall, this place was enjoyable. It is located in an established neighbourhood. The street and suite itself has character and charm, and the host was very responsive. However, unfortunately, we were the victim of a vehicle break in. Our vehicle window was smashed and several items were stolen. Our vehicle was parked on the street in front of the suite, where we were staying. Unfortuntely, crime is high in Portland, regardless of where you are - just make sure not to leave any valuables in your car.

Recharge layover
Our family wanted to visit Portland on route to San Francisco. This Vrbo was a perfect stop on route. The only unfortunate thing was that it was booked and we were only able to stay here for 1 night. A nice place to relax so the 2 nights, minimum, would have been perfect. Super glad that the owner is able to keep the rental occupied!!

Wonderful place that I unfortunately did not get to stay at
I was so excited to stay at Vicki's place as it looks amazing. But I made a huge mistake when I booked it, as I was going to Portland, Maine and Vicki was in Portland, Oregon. I did not realize my error until I arrived in Portland, Maine. Vicki was so sweet and offered to refund the amount paid minus the fees and taxes that VRBO keeps. I hope to someone get to Portland and stay at her beautiful home.

Our experience...
We have love the location, property interior decoration, room size, and view. On the other hand, the amount of notes around the property were just annoying. There is a note on the restroom kind of threatening the guests with charges, nots hand writing on the elevator with capital letters, and exclamation points; kind of like yelling. As professional adults we understand that we are not in our home, but we are paying to have a relaxing time without instructions every time that you look around.

I am a native Portlander and also a property developer/interior designer. I lived in Hawaii for 29 years but have come back to Portland to spend time with aging parents and grandchildren. I have traveled extensively, spending time in more than 80 countries and know what to expect in a fine hotel.

Why they chose this property

This home has a unique sense of character and the location is wonderful. It is an easy stroll to Downtown,, the Saturday Portland State farmers Market, NW 23rd Street and to the Pearl. A $5 taxi ride back up the hill makes it easy for those who don't want to walk back. There is also a bus stop right across the street.

What makes this property unique

This home was built in 1950 by Eric Ladd who re-used pieces of the historic Portland Hotel which was torn down that year and stood where Pioneer Place is now located. I purchased the White Stag Windows from the Rebuilding Center and added to Mr. Ladd's legacy by using them to define the suite you will be staying in.
