The restaurants, shops, and galleries are suspended over the tidal river on stilts. The winery is 800 yards from the village and is a historic converted 'working horse' barn from the 19th century. Owned in the last century by the Clarke Bros., it was used to pasture and foal their logging teams in the summer months. The hay mow and 4 story interior held 185 tons of hay providing winter feed for the teams that hauled out timber during the winter months from Lake Jolie to supply the huge Clarke Bros clothes-pin factory and sawmill.
